Terrible experience. We dined in on a Saturday, and the restaurant was relatively empty (should've been a red flag to dine elsewhere). Despite this, it took approx 30-45 mins for our appetizers and drinks to come out. The waitress never came back to check on us until we finished our meals. We never even received any silverware or napkins, I had to flag another waitress down to request them and she seemed annoyed by that. Made a slick comment under her breath where I couldn't hear her and another waitress laughed. My bill was $150 excluding a very undeserving tip, I've had better service and food elsewhere. It's no wonder this company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and closed all of its Houston locations. I will NOT be returning.

I'm a fan of Kona Grill for its sizable menu and convenience within the mall. Food /drinks tend to be consistent. When unsatisfied, I've communicated such with the server and it has been made right. Please bare in mind, they could be training new hires, be slammed, and out of stock of items all of which affect overall service. Cool aesthetic. Reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory. Outdoor seating had ample umbrellas. The happy hour rocks! Sometimes things change. Be sure and call ahead to ensure of operating hours for the day.

HORRIBLE! The service was awful, the waitress was inattentive and no-where to be found. After 30 mins of waiting for appetizers (which were specifically asked for to come out first) I had to get up and go find the waitress to ask where everything was, I told her to cancel the apps as we had waited too long in an almost completely empty restaurant. Magically, the apps show with the meal 3 minutes later. The manager was very apologetic when I spoke with him, but the food was average to below average, the prices are premium, and the service is the worst. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened at this location. The good news is we won't be going back, and I would advise others to steer clear.

Kona Grill does not live up to their advertised Labor Day special. They clearly state that first responders, military and teachers can dine for 50% of the menu price. Then they tell us, all military or teachers with full credentials, that only one of us will get the 50% advertised special. The rest of us don't count! Just add a little more salt to the wound!

Overall very good! We went for restaurant week, and the deal was pretty nice. I wish a drink had been included, though—a glass of house wine or beer. One negative was the menu saying the meatball app came with four meatballs when it was only two. A big plus was our server James. He was awesome, very kind and attentive. He also seemed super enthusiastic about the place.

Decided to enjoy Restaurant Week, but we were EXTREMELY disappointed. Prime Rib ordered medium rare was served medium well and very dry. There was no au jus. Mashed potatoes were bland and also somewhat dry. Ordered an orange cream soda that arrived in a bottle with no glass offered. I thought it would be homemade cream soda! Shrimp skewer on top was overdone, so cocktail sauce was needed and not offered either. This was the biggest waste of $150 we may have ever spent. We will not be returning under any circumstances. Save your money.

This was our first experience at Kona Grill. There were four of us and after our server took our drink orders, it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. That's ok, things happen but when we received our food, all but one of us were given the wrong meal and the server that was delivering it got an attitude with us and just started setting the plates down for us to figure it out! It was disappointing and we probably won't be back.

Went for Resturant week. The drinks were good but a little slow on coming. The food was good, but portions were very large. Desert was outstanding, wish I had room to finish. Would recommend you give it a try. Relaxed fun place.

Our service was very slow. We waited ten minutes for the waitress to initially greet us. Our appetizers came out without plates to eat them on. We waited another 10 minutes for plates while the food got cold. The main course took 50 minutes to come out, and the place was not busy, short staffed maybe, but not busy. One the dishes that came out, a soup, was inedible. It was a very disappointing experience. We will not be returning here.

Reservation and Seating: The experience started off on the wrong foot. Our reservation was specifically for the dining room, which was far from full. However, we were initially escorted to the cocktail area and ultimately ended up on the patio. Service: Service was slow and somewhat awkward, even though the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. The hostess didn't even bring a drink menu to the table, which seemed odd. Drinks: Our initial drinks, an Old Fashioned and a margarita, took easily 15 minutes, if not longer, to arrive. Food: The appetizer, meatballs, tasted the best out of everything we ordered, though they were a bit dry. The sushi roll was just fine. The entrees were disappointing. The chicken was dry, as was the accompanying rice. However, the worst part was the prime rib. My date ordered it medium rare, but it came out medium well. When we asked about getting another one cooked correctly, the server came back with the answer: "The starting point of the prime rib was medium and could only go up from there." This seemed like an answer from a manager who didn't want to correct the issue. The prime rib was the dish we especially came in for, and it was horrible. Prime rib is a premium cut of beef, and getting the temperature right is crucial. It should have been a simple request to accommodate, especially for a restaurant week special. The desserts were fine, but nothing spectacular. After finishing our desserts, we were still waiting on a second margarita we had ordered 20 minutes prior. It never arrived. Overall: Kona Grill's Restaurant Week offering was a major letdown. The service was slow and inattentive, the food was underwhelming, and the prime rib fiasco was the final straw. We won't be returning.

It has been a few years since we had eaten at Kona grill. We really always loved the food. They had a special which I ordered, was later informed that they were out. I was surprised since our reservation was at 6:30 PM. I chose the salmon which I found overcooked. Another person in our party chose fish and chips. It didn't look too appetizing to me so I asked about it when we're finished. He said it was OK, but not what he had expected.

Had to ask for a waiter/waitress after being sat and waiting 10 mins. Finally we were told Sally would be our waitress who was GREAT! To be honest she would be the only reason I would even think about going back. Food was overpriced and after Sally left not 1 person asked if we were okay or if we needed anything as we decided to stay a little after paying our check and was told the server on duty now would be coming over which never happened. A couple of us wanted another drink so I ordered from Nathan the bartender who started the convo off with "you know your homegirl only tipped $1" this is while she was waiting for the rest of us and after sitting at the bar for several minutes without even being acknowledged. I work in customer service and you do not demand tips when you aren't giving the service. That was in really poor taste and extremely unprofessional. Acknowledgment or even a simple "hi I'll be right with you" goes a long way. I will not be back nor will the others I was with. It's fortunate but I can get better service other places that aren't overpriced.

We sat outside during a happy hour and enjoyed the music and AC coming out from the inside. Usually I freeze my butt off, so this was a treat for me to be comfortable. The food choices were good for a happy hour menu. Service was good, not super duper attentive or perfect 5 star but overall the servers worked well together and helped out whenever asked. Fun Friday afternoon place!

Went for happy hour, and good food choices at a great price! Service was friendly. Seats were ripped, indicating that this establishment needs renovation. Food tasted good, would definitely be back again.
