i have not been here in over 20 years and i was reminded why when i walked in today at around 3pm. The first stench that hit my nose when i walked in the door was the sour smell of sewer coming from the restroom, that should have been my first clue to turn around and leave. I went to the restroom before sitting down and it was worse and literally made me gag from the smell, that should have been my second clue to turn around and leave. Sat as far away from the restroom as possible. Party of 2, ordered a couple of soft drinks, ordered 2 crawfish etouffees with a 2 Caesar salads, romaine was not fresh, over dressed with something hinting of a Caesar salad dressing, covered with powdered parmesan and small stale croutons from a bag or box.
Crawfish etouffee was just okay, skimpy on ingredients. No bread or anything to go with it. I ordered 1 of each to go, (NY style cheesecake and key lime pie), very small slices for $8.00 each. Sad. Times have changed.

When I first moved to Dallas I was turned on to this place by my roommate. I was hooked. Anytime I had friends or family come to visit we came to Dodie’s. The house dressing was a garlic Parmesan that was supposedly made mixing 2 bottled salad dressings together. I thought that was brilliant. Eventually I rented a house a few blocks away. I am certain my subconscious steered me toward Dodie’s. It’s that good. Do yourself a favor. Go eat at Dodie’s. You will not regret it.

Say man. Those nachos were amazing. I’m still sitting in the bar writing this. Idk why they aren’t busy. And they don’t skim on the drinks!!!! 10/10

Great atmosphere, however, we were very disappointed in the food. We didnt detect a hint of cajun seasoning or spices in anything we ordered except 1 of 9 entrees. We started with the alligator, which was all fried flour and barely had any meat and not seasoned. The stuffed jalepenos were great. We also had the boudin balls. Those were good. I had the "bourbon" pork chops, but there was no hint of bourbon..just topped with a beef gravy and mushrooms. My nephew had the chicken sandwich which only had chicken on half the sandwich. The waitress took it back. We also tried the chicken and shrimp pasta, which was good, but there was nothing spectacular or cajun about it. The service was ok. I never got a knife to cut my porkchop, but the atmosphere was nice, tables are crowded near the bar area, but once you get around that, it's comfortable. The boys were able to watch 3 football games all at once. Overall, we were disappointed. We were really wanting cajun food, but this wasn't it. As far as the food, it's a flop. There was an automatic 20% tip and a service fee added, but I think they overpromise on the "cajun experience." That needs to be corrected to be good enough to "demand" a tip and fee.

Had SO much fun watching my Saints here! The service was incredible! Super friendly. Super quick. Super efficient. Good vibes all around! Definitely recommend this place to any Louisiana transplants! So welcoming! Got the chargrilled oysters… amazing! Also got the fried seafood basket with catfish, shrimp and oysters… the shrimp are huge and catfish is delicious! Definitely coming back! WHO DAT!

Automatically add a 20% service charge for opening a beer bottle. Pretty poor service for overpriced beer. Place uses Louisiana to pander to LSU fans and former residents. Food is average.

The service and food were great. I had the Ya Ya Gumbo which was amazing. But when the check came, seeing the 20% gratuity added to the check was the reason I didn't give this place 5 stars.
I would have tipped the waitress 20% without it being added, since she did an astounding job. But when it's automatically added, how could I tip accordingly if the service had not been adequate?
Don't make the customers pay your servers because you don't want too.

Food is incredibly expensive for little portions, and the quality isn't even worth it. The only saving grace is that the servers are nice, but we didn't go here to socialize.
