Great atmosphere, however, we were very disappointed in the food. We didnt detect a hint of cajun seasoning or spices in anything we ordered except 1 of 9 entrees. We started with the alligator, which was all fried flour and barely had any meat and not seasoned. The stuffed jalepenos were great. We also had the boudin balls. Those were good. I had the "bourbon" pork chops, but there was no hint of bourbon..just topped with a beef gravy and mushrooms. My nephew had the chicken sandwich which only had chicken on half the sandwich. The waitress took it back. We also tried the chicken and shrimp pasta, which was good, but there was nothing spectacular or cajun about it. The service was ok. I never got a knife to cut my porkchop, but the atmosphere was nice, tables are crowded near the bar area, but once you get around that, it's comfortable. The boys were able to watch 3 football games all at once. Overall, we were disappointed. We were really wanting cajun food, but this wasn't it. As far as the food, it's a flop. There was an automatic 20% tip and a service fee added, but I think they overpromise on the "cajun experience." That needs to be corrected to be good enough to "demand" a tip and fee.

Amazing service and great atmosphere. Owner came around to introduce himself and check in to see if everything was ok. Great place for a game, cocktail and good vibes

Had SO much fun watching my Saints here! The service was incredible! Super friendly. Super quick. Super efficient. Good vibes all around! Definitely recommend this place to any Louisiana transplants! So welcoming! Got the chargrilled oysters… amazing! Also got the fried seafood basket with catfish, shrimp and oysters… the shrimp are huge and catfish is delicious! Definitely coming back! WHO DAT!

Automatically add a 20% service charge for opening a beer bottle. Pretty poor service for overpriced beer. Place uses Louisiana to pander to LSU fans and former residents. Food is average.

The service and food were great. I had the Ya Ya Gumbo which was amazing. But when the check came, seeing the 20% gratuity added to the check was the reason I didn't give this place 5 stars.
I would have tipped the waitress 20% without it being added, since she did an astounding job. But when it's automatically added, how could I tip accordingly if the service had not been adequate?
Don't make the customers pay your servers because you don't want too.

Food is incredibly expensive for little portions, and the quality isn't even worth it. The only saving grace is that the servers are nice, but we didn't go here to socialize.

I'm not sure what happened to the food from the old days at the old location down the street. My gumbo looked like cream gravy and tasted bland. I went for my old favorite Jambalaya and it also came out cream colored. Both were bland but the gumbo was at least edible. The jambalaya was disgusting. The waitress was nice enough but never came back to refill our teas in the hour that we were there. Wish I hadn't gone and ruined my memories of the original Dodies.

REPLY TO OWNERS RESPONSE:

If you have cameras you can definitely see that our glasses were empty for at least 30 minutes and our plates were still covered in food when they were picked up. Further, out of the few tables in the restaurant, there were no other patrons within two tables of us except for the guys in the Dodie's shirts two tables away. Stop making up stories about patrons hearing us talk good about your food. I would have given you 5 out of 5 had the food been good.

Based on the reply from Dodies, im adding this part. "20% tip should be a discretion of the client not the service provider, same for the service fee, you just lost my business, (probably you dont need it) but other places around the neighborhood will be more than happy to have our business and dont force us for a 20% tip and service fee"....were here to watch the Mavs game. Service was great, athomosphere was OK. we didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that. But beer selection on tap is limited. And one thing that wasn't disclose was that a 20% tip going to be included and on top of that a service fee was added. Not cool...considering we were only 3, i understand parties of 6+ gratuity is added by default, but not on party of 3.
