Came here for the Valentine’s 17-course omakase experience and it was exceptional! Great service and fair prices. Each dish was well prepared with high quality ingredients that complemented the natural flavors of each fish. I enjoyed every dish and had many favorites, including the truffle salmon sashimi, hotate, hirame, kinmedai, striped jack (seasonal), and the strawberry matcha panna cotta with house-made chocolate was a great finish.

Loved the Dozo Omakase+ uni nigiri! Ordered the crunch tuna appetizers and the Hokkaido trio scallops! Friend ordered the 6 course mixed nigiri and handroll. We loved our experience and felt that the fish was super fresh! Will definitely be back for the premium 15 course omakase next time!!

Great experience, super fresh tasting omakase at a very reasonable price. 7 course for only $38 and premium 15 courses for for $120. Intimate but relaxed setting. And they also have my fav tako washabi and excellent cold sake. Easy to make reservation as well. Will be our go to spot from now on. Chefs and servers are super tentative and friendly as well. They also let you substitute item if you let them know ahead of time.

I have a feeling I’ll be back here every month if not every week! From the moment you walk in, the service is impeccable, everyone is so friendly. The omakase options all seem like a great value, I tried the nigiri and hand roll mixed set and every bite was delicious. The chefs are super friendly and knowledgeable. Extra points for the house-made shoyu!

The handroll omakase is very affordable and tasty. It’s simply the best in the area in my non-experienced opinion! The fish was extremely fresh, and the rice was very well seasoned. Each bite was so tasty! The server and the chefs were very friendly and instructive! 10/10 recommend!

Nestled within the vibrant mosaic of Trinity Groves, Dozo Omakase & Handroll Bar evokes the grace and sophistication of Japan’s imperial past, seamlessly intertwining it with a contemporary sensibility that delights even the most discerning palate. From the moment you enter, you are transported feeling akin to stepping into a Kyoto ryokan where every detail exudes precision, elegance, and reverence for the craft.

The journey begins at the omakase counter, an intimate stage where the chefs, modern-day artisans, perform their culinary ballet with hushed reverence. Each course is an ode to simplicity and balance, guided by the timeless principles of washoku. The Hokkaido scallop, adorned with a whisper of yuzu zest and a glimmer of shoyu, dissolves on the tongue like a fleeting moment of poetry. The otoro, marbled and opulent, feels like an heirloom treasure from the sea, coaxed to perfection by expert hands.

For those who wander toward the handroll bar, expect a different kind of artistry one where texture and timing are paramount. The uni handroll, a divine marriage of creamy sea urchin and warm, vinegared rice, is presented with a crisp nori embrace that whispers of the ocean. The interplay of flavors is harmonious yet bold, a reflection of Japan’s wabi-sabi philosophy: finding beauty in fleeting moments.

The ambiance, with its subdued lighting and thoughtful design, mirrors the ethos of the menu. Every element, from the lacquered wood counters to the delicate ceramic sake cups, speaks to a devotion to aesthetic refinement.

Dozo’s essence lies not merely in its culinary offerings but in its ability to elevate dining into an experience both meditative and celebratory. It is a place where tradition meets innovation, and where every bite is a gateway to Japan’s aristocratic soul. Dining here is not just a meal, it is an invitation to savor the ephemeral and the eternal.

We tried it out during the soft opening and I think they did great! We did the 15 course omakase and the fish was great quality and the chef was lovely. Look forward to trying nigiri/handroll sets in the future. It would be nice if we were offered ginger/not had to ask for it but that’s what a soft opening is for!

Got the $38 nigiri omakase course and it was so so good! The fish to rice ratio was chefs kiss and the service was amazing! Chef was super attentive and staff was super friendly

They also have a more premium omakase option but love that they have different price points. Highly recommend
