I loved this place! We tried the elegante experience which is on their menu for $99 per person. We are very indecisive so them providing us with an option of trying a little bit of everything was perfect for us! We were surprised by how much food was included with the elegante experience. The Machete and the carne asada were to die for! But honestly everything was delicious.

Such a wonderful experience! We have been sorely disappointed in other Dallas restaurants of this price point, but have finally found a place that's worth a splurge. We went last night for my birthday and chose the tasting menu. They had additional special off-menu items for the month of September and everything was delicious. Our server was attentive (I wish I remembered his name- AR we think?) and a manager came over at the beginning to wish me a happy birthday. Drinks were great, food wasn't rushed (we spent a little over 2 hours there) and even though they were booked except for the bar, they were able to get us standard seating. Just wonderful service all around! We will absolutely be back!

Step into what is otherwise an unassuming block on the corner and you'll find yourself in a pretty immersive, Mexico City-inspired experience packed with the city's foodies. The place is buzzing.
We started with a couple of 'one hitters', bitesize appetisers on a bed of shells we're politely told not to eat (apparently people do!). The surf and turf (wagyu beef with a little dollop of caviar, inside a crispy tortilla shell) is the standout.
The broccolini turns out to be exceptional, accompanied by a sauce that apparently the chef won't disclose the secret ingredient of. Their masa menu contains multiple things we were desperate to try, but options for the el machete - a kind of quesadilla packed with flavour.
And finally the el pastor from the grill, accompanied by an addictively moreish adobo sauce.
El Carlos Elegante is a great find - upscale Mexican, but in an environment that feels infectious and energising (and without the pretentions of fine dining).

We had a really great exchange at El Carlos. The server was very nice and knowledgeable she did a great job.l think her name was Nicola. She was great! It was my boyfriend’s birthday and we had a really good time! The manager Michelle stopped by and brought a candle for his birthday, it was so sweet! A great time and amazing unique food! We will be back!

Great atmosphere, tequila
& mescal selections and the FOOD! Had the okra and shishito peppers (pictured) with pistachio salsa matcha and the Tamarind HALIBUT! SO GOOD we forgot to take a pic! Up for dessert? Try the Bunuelo and French press!

Definitely my worst dining experience in Dallas. I have 10 years experience in the restaurant industry and I am an avid Michelin-star restaurant diner. My boyfriend chose this place to celebrate our anniversary as we were told that it is one of the few places in Dallas that could get a Michelin star. This place ruined our special night. Besides the hostess, everybody dismissed our celebration. We had a passive-aggressive waitress who didn't want to give us a wine taste (we wanted to order a bottle of wine), kept removing plates off the table without asking if we were done, had poor wine serving skills, never wiped debris off the table between courses and kept placing silverware on the dirty tabletop. We ordered the chef's experience and there was not a single outstanding course, The food was bland, and we served mostly beans and tortillas throughout the whole experience. Don't get the chef experience!!! not worth it at all. The manager was polite and had polished serving skills, he checked on us a couple of times but we didn't mention how disappointed we were because we just wanted to leave and were afraid of the server's retaliation.

Most things we got were excellent. Spicy cocktails were too spicy and made with habanero?? Rather than jalapeno. A bit rough around the edges, but still an enjoyable experience.
So good. Tapas style authentic Mex food. The corn masa dishes are amazing. Had a good enough veg selection. Wish they had chips and salsa.

Probably my favorite tex-mex place in Dallas! Service is impeccable (they ask for your name and remember it!), the cocktails are fun and possibly a little too easy to down, and their food (particularly the masa based dishes) is creative while retaining a bit of familiarity.

Can't believe I didn't know about this place earlier. Splurged and did the "especial" experience (can't remember what it's called, but it's basically like doing omakase at a sushi place). It was a wonderful experience. Food, drinks, service out of this world! The servers remember you by name and will provide excellent recommendations. Literally the best masa and tortillas I've had. Very creative flavors and presentation. Attention to detail, creativity and deliciousness - will absolutely be going back and have raved about it to friends!
