⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Honest, Flavor-Packed Potential with Room to Grow
El Colibrí is a charming, spotless gem tucked into Bruton Road, easily one of the cleanest restaurants I’ve visited, from the dining area to the restrooms. That alone earns high marks in my book. However, as much as this place holds promise, a few missteps kept it from being a perfect experience.
Let’s start with service: the wait time for food was about 20 minutes, which felt a bit long given the pace of the restaurant. Our waitress, while polite, came across as shy and reserved , not quite the confident, engaging presence you hope for in a busy dining setting. A more outgoing and service-driven staff member could really enhance the overall experience.
On to the food - I ordered three gorditas, and I was genuinely thrilled to see the option for deep-fried shells. That nostalgic touch brought me right back to my childhood. Unfortunately, the fillings didn’t quite deliver. The fajita and al pastor were surprisingly bland — the flavors muted to the point they resembled tofu in taste. However, the chicharrón gordita was absolutely delicious, rich, savory, and well-seasoned. It redeemed the entire plate and showed what the kitchen is capable of when the flavors hit right.
A letdown worth noting: the menudo, which I initially came for, was unavailable. It’s listed on the menu as a Saturday and Sunday item, and we arrived well before closing (around 5:40 p.m. on a Sunday), so it was disappointing not to have that option.
On the bright side, pricing is a standout. The portions were generous, and the total cost was lower than expected, great value for the amount of food served.
Final take: If El Colibrí can tighten up on service and bring consistent flavor across the board, it could easily become a go-to neighborhood favorite. For now, it’s a clean, affordable spot with solid potential — and definitely worth a return visit.
There is no flavor only the chips are good and the sauce
This place is so underrated. It's a shame not many people are willing to give it a try. The food and service was amazing, and the owner is such a hardworking and polite man.
I dont know what to say to these nachos. This is disappointing. It's not letting me post a picture but nah this is kind of crazy that the cook that this was okay to give us.
I had 4 tacos one of barbacoa one of fajita one of lengua and one of tripas chips and salsa were served while I waited to look through my menu. The horchata was delicious. They have to go as well. It was empty. So I had plenty of tables to pick from. The waitress was so polite professional and attentive. The food was ok I thought their tortillas needed improvement to dry for me. The meat was ok just needed some salt to add flavor. I taste my meat before I bite into my tacos. Bland flavor but after you add salt and all veggies that came with them they were good. I ordered a torta. But it was for someone else but it came with fries. And they sell some churros vanilla and caramel my favorite were vanilla. I did not like green salsa I had my tacos with he one they gave me with the chips it was warm and flavored. They have plenty of parking space and bathrooms smelled good and clean. The whole restaurant was clean. And the menu has a lot of options.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Definitely worth it and coming back. Highly recommend

Great food and service, we were seated right away and the horchata is really good!
I highly recommend the menudo and the gorditas. I love the atmosphere and the customer service is awesome. I will definitely be back. I also think it really deserves more advertising. Let’s spread the word. It’s delicious. Keep up the good work!
This place is great but my only issue is you have to go on a day the better cook is there only I'm not sure what days that is.. i love there chilaquiles verdes but because of different chefs it isn't consistent in the food.. sometimes it's so good and others not..
Good food, great service and clean restaurant! Would visit again.
