I knew this would be a great place to take some friends who had never been to Texas before and wanted to experience non-chain Tex-Mex. The neighborhood, building, decor, staff and quality of food was perfect. However, the mirachi band is too much. Way too loud. It doesn't need to be so loud. It was if the horns had to prove they could play loudly. I get it, when a mirachi band is playing you don't have conversation, but wow, it doesn't have to be so overwhelming....

El Ranchito is one of the old line of restaurants in Dallas, where multiple generations of families have made this Jefferson Blvd. spot for years and can argue over their favorite dishes. El Ranchito specializes in Northern Mexico food, where goat has a place of honor on the menu, beyond the typical Tex Mex combo platters. We had birria tacos and caldo de Pollo. The caldo was packed with chicken and lots of carrots and Calabasas, but frankly the broth could have been better. The...
