I heard about this bakery from when I dined in a Lake Highlands Cafe. So we decided to make the trip over to Empire baking Co. It is a nice little place, they offer a variety of items from baked goods (mainly breads and a few cookies and scones/muffins.). They have some items in coolers like sandwiches and drinks. For Rosh Hashana I pre-ordered ruggelech and challah. The ruggelech wasn't traditional at all, but it was tasty. It was on the drier side instead of stick and moist like every other ruggelech I've had. It also contained a lot of nuts, which I wasn't expecting and which wasn't mentioned on the menu. They're also twice the size of most ruggelech I've had, so I cut them in half before serving. Haven't had the challah yet, but it looks delicious....
We love Empire Baking Co! I've been a customer for many years & typically have my favorites. I recently introduced my partner. He loved it & then introduced his out-of-state daughters to it. They're very discerning & raved about everything we bought. In the process of shopping, I had the opportunity to visit with the manager, & her suggestions were marvelous.
