I have been going to Goff’s hamburgers for over 50 years! Harvey Goff used to serve all of us kids and be very grumpy while doing it when it was first on Lovers Lane!
The hamburgers are great, especially the hickory burger, the fries are great, and the shakes tie them all together!
The restaurant is lined with old pictures of Dallas, Highland Park, SMU, State Fair, athletes like Doak Walker and Highland Park high school athletics.
Tuesday night is half price burgers also!

I had remembered eating at Goffs back in the 60's and 70's . Back then it was always a pleasant experience. I was originally happy to find Goffs at their new location. Yesterday my wife and I were in Dallas and decided to go to Goffs. I was hoping for the quality I remembered from my youth. I WAS WRONG! The quality of the food has gone way down. I had a #4 and the chili tasted burnt. My wife had a hot dog that she could not finish. On the plus side the restaurant was clean and the French fries were good. But overall I am sorry to say I will not be back.

When I went to Goffs one Tuesday evening around 8:30 pm, I got my burger, fries and a drink like normal. What made me upset was the fact that I was told to leave at 9:02 pm, when I was STILL EATING. Now, I was not going to be there much longer, but I still had food that I PAID FOR, and I was told to “leave and grab a to go box”. This was all said VERY RUDELY by the cashier that evening. Look, I understand that you have been there all day working, but it’s your job to serve the patrons. I don’t want to hear AT ALL that you want to go home early, when you have a paying customer in your restaurant. I’ll say it again, it’s your job to serve the people, NOT be rude and tell someone to get out and take a to go box. Let me finish my food AT MY OWN PACE, and then I’ll be done. I’m not going to rush through eating my food just so you can go home when you want to and watch what have you on the tube. Allow me to finish eating, and then politely check on me and say “have a good night”. That’s not hard to do! I know you close at 9:00, but I was peacefully eating food that I PAID FOR a few minutes after 9:00. Let me finish eating! It’s called being a decent human being. I even went and spoke to the manager on duty in person not long after this happened, and I was basically brushed off. I don’t want to hear an apology, I want more done than that. The fact that all this happened to me at a local university park staple, and it’s my favorite burger, makes me very sad and upset ☹️
I wish they would use slice cheese instead of shredded cheese. And the shredded cheese is not melted on the burger. I came a couple thinking it would change but not yet. And I think a bit over price. $5 for fries

Ordered a burger thinking with lettuce, tomatoes or pickles but no just a patty with too muck BBQ sauce. My first & last visit.

Well, I’m sure the SMU kids have kept this place in business. The service was friendly, burger was decent, the chili cheese fries were, ehh..and for the love of good the apple pie was the worst Ive ever had (that was a nail in the coffin). The apple filling was tasteless and not fresh. The amount of powdered sugar on the pie could keep a whole nursing home from getting diaper rash for weeks..

I absolutely love Goffs. I'm from San Diego so going to Goffs is a real treat. You must get something with their famous hickory sauce. I highly recommend it 😋

The food is on the level of McDonald’s and much more expensive. It’s overpriced and overrated. For the price, it’s not worth it.

$8 for a burger that was kind of like a room temperature plain simple no flavor. First time here. Onion rings overcook, not worth it. One beer one burger onion rings $20 not worth it.

I stopped by as I saw the 50% off burgers sign on a Tuesday. Since I’ve never been, I got the basic burger(w lettuce tomato, mustard etc) and added cheese. It was a decent burger. I don’t know if I would been happy to pay full price for it but maybe they do thicker burgers @full price. They add shredded cheese after the grilling process so it’s not melted…just falling all over the place like the shredded lettuce. There are a lot of other options so may opt for something else like chili cheese or something next time. Also I didn’t get any fries or sides just wanted to try the staple. I’d give it another try.
Vegetarian options: Veggie burger fries etc
Kid-friendliness: Lots of tables to sit and eat.
Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level so can fit a wheel chair

Cool place. Definitely gives you the local flavor. Unfortunately thats the best flavor you are going to get. The burger SUCKS. Its obviously low quality and just really falls short. I had some terrific cheese fries with it. But that burger was a real loser.

The cheese on my burger was not melted, it was shredded cheese so it was noticeable, it was more lettuce than anything. The onion rings were good. The service was great but I would not come back for the food.

This restaurant used to be great but has drastically gone downhill. Bad food, bad service, bad attitude, management does not care if there is a problem. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. The burger and fries are nothing special…..just overpriced and sub-par quality. Bugs running across the floor, very disturbing. THIS PLACE IS AT THE BOTTOM OF MY LIST !!!!!!!!
