There are many reasons to go to Hello Dumpling in East Dallas. The number one reason is because of Chef June Chow's amazing dishes. Which also caught the attention of Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives who announced to the world how amazing her restaurant Hello Dumpling is. See season 51 episode 6 2025.
Many of us have been eating here long before Guy's visit but it just confirms what we all knew June's dishes are uniquely delicious!! Great food for the soul and the pocket book. I have tried practically everything on the menu and it is ALL GOOD! Here is what I highly recommend first time.
Peking Noodle with Pork-Insanely delicious, sweet, savory, spicy!
Shrimp with zucchini dumplings!!
Jasmine raspberry tea with mango pearls. If June is not busy ask to to speak with her. She loves to hear how much you enjoy her food! 10 out of 10 highly recommend 😋

I would never recommend this place for any type of occasion or meal. Firstly, I was treated with mediocre, rude service as soon as I entered. I felt like I wasn’t welcomed in the restaurant due to the way the waiters gave me nasty glances and made me wait 16 minutes for a table, although I saw over 4 empty tables for two. (I was in a group of 2). The food, I found it to be overwhelmingly greasy. I’ve had better dumplings and I was disappointed with the lack of flavor in the food. The waiters then purposely took extra long to serve me my check. I had to ask 3 times before I was finally served my check. The price, however, is average compared to other Asian restaurants. I was very uncomfortable dining here and I was Expecially disappointed by the customer service. Please, if you want a memorable and satisfactory dining experience, do NOT eat here. This is the worst place ever!

my first time going, and I was absolutely blown away. the atmosphere is amazing. I love the art and the plants and the nice small, intimate homey feel that it has, and for me being a vegetarian, I was very impressed with the vegetarian options that they had available without sacrificing on flavor and quality. It was absolutely amazing. Will definitely be going back multiple times.

***DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR THOSE WITH CELIAC***(See second paragraph.) We chose Hello Dumpling, because it was close and had gluten free menu options. (I have a gluten sensitivity.) My son and I ordered the chicken rice dumplings, crispy basil chicken and chicken skewers - all of which were marked as gluten free on their menu. (My boyfriend got the beef noodle soup and the pork pan-fried dumplings and had no complaints.) I was overall disappointed in my son's and my food. The rice dumplings were more like wet sushi balls ("wet" meaning the rice was not very sticky), and the dipping sauce made the overall taste even worse. The crispy basil chicken was okay, but I didn't really taste much basil. It was nice to be able to go out and order something like popcorn chicken, I will admit. But it did not come with any dipping sauce and should have really had some. The skewers were a little dry but were otherwise okay. My son ate all three with no complaints. I also got the Golden Milk Tea with boba made with soy milk (I also have a dairy restriction but it's allowable in small amounts, and I order milk tea from various places all the time with boba or other toppings with no trouble), and it tasted kinda like cereal milk. I couldn't really taste the tea, but the soy milk just might have been too overpowering.

***Later on that afternoon, I got very sick in a way that meant I had eaten gluten at some point, and this was the only place we had eaten out that day. And I did not have any of my boyfriend's food, nor did he eat from mine until I was finished eating. So I unfortunately will not be back. I might have given it a second try and just ordered something different, but having a reaction like that is too much of a risk.

I picked this place based on reviews and was disappointed by the actual experience. Seemed overpriced for dumpling that taste like the kind I buy at the grocery store and make for myself at home. We also had braised beef soup, meet tasted like the steaks you buy in bulk for a deal (bought them once, and never again, but this tasted like those) . I feel like I paid the price for a meal and ate snacks only. Almost didn’t stay because I couldn’t find parking….wish I never found the spot that opened up. People that work there are nice, but unfortunately, the food is not at the same level.

Initially went here because it was recommended for a nice lunch spot before going to the nearby arboretum.

The name "hello dumpling" is very misleading.

First off, The dumplings were very small and overpriced for what they are. I had the boiled fish dumplings and they honestly were great, but it's not worth the 10 dollar price tag for the measly 8 pieces that were smaller than Ikea meatballs. I had thought the rice dumplings used thin sticky rice paper like shumai, but laughably they LITERALLY used sticky rice to cover the filling and steamed it. I'm 100% sure my 4 year old cousin can make this better because this is not worth 10 dollars either. The "handmade" 3 piece bao buns tasted store bought; for 10 dollars? REALLY????

I cannot understand the logistics for pricing these "handmade" dumplings. I had initially thought they were entrees themselves, but they were served in appetizer sizes.

I would recommend you go to the beer garden next door.

The parking is a little hectic but cute little restaurant. I went Saturday and tried dumpling for the first time. It was family friendly even without a kids menu. The service was great. Even though its an order get a number and the items will be brought to your table type of establishment. We sat near the kitchen. The kids enjoyed watching the kitchen staff cook the food. I had the chicken and mushroom dumplings, shrimp pan seared dumplings , the short rib noodles and crispy basil chicken.

I did not like the boiled dumpling. It was a personal performance due to the texture. The panseared were amazing. The noodle soup was bland. It didn’t have much flavor. The short rib in the soup was amazing. I wish I could have just ordered that. The broth and everything was just there. & the star of the show was the basil chicken! It was very good, my children loved it and so did it. I will return and recommend to anyone looking to try out a new place.

Nice looking little restaurant that I visited while my EV was charging across the street. The menu looked very interesting and the server was quite helpful in making my decision. I settled on the Peking Noodle With Veg ($10.50)
Spicy. Tofu, eggplant, mushrooms, and carrots in a sweet and savory.
I asked if Could swap the tofu for chicken, bur that wasn't possible apparently.
The meal presentation was pretty good when it arrived, but when i mixed everything up in the brown broth, all I could taste was salt, presumably from the soy sauce that was added in the kitchen.
I was in a hurry and very hungry having driven all day, so I finished the meal, but I have to say it was one of the worst restaurant meals I can remember eating. I spent the next 2 hours drinking water to compensate for the huge amount of MSG I had consumed.
Sadly, I will not be going back to Hello Dumpling based on my culinary disaster.
Gordon Ramsey would have fired the chef!
