it has been a wonderful place to eat, one of my favorite for years. It will be horribly missed.
Great place for meals... Check them out
I love the home cooked meal options. It reminds me of the Sunday meals I used to prepare.
Delicious and best sweet potatoes I've ever had. See my food pics
The food felt like from Grandma's house. Well priced live piano playing and the best server named Sparkle...she fit her name and will be back again. This time with our kids
Fried chicken cutlet with cheese, green onion, bacon and scalloped potatoes and macaroni/cheese and tea. It was great tasting but.......it was $15.74 for 2 sides 1 meat and tea nothing else a bit high but food was good
This restaurant is a throw back to another era. Great home cooking with a Southern flare. There is usually a piano player who plays music and you can request a favorite tune.
Highland Park Cafe is a Dallas institution that serves up very good comfort food. Salads are fresh, entrees are varied, and even the standard sides are tasty.
The food is always fresh. We had not visited this place in ten years and the only thing that changed was the decor. The staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was friendly and as always the food was great. We had friends join us so, we needed to changed tables, the staff moved everything for us.
This time I visited on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered Turkey and dressing and gravy. The dressing was plain cornbread without any veggies or seasoning. The gravy was flour and water stirred together Again it was not good. The Boston Cream pie was stale and dried out. . The waitresses were not interested in providing us with tea refills. They were more interested in serving people of their own color. This was not a pleasant afternoon.

Lots of different make your own meal options. The staff is friendly and it's a very clean establishment! I had the salmon it was great.
Cafeterias used to be all over the city.
Just listened to the great “Mr..B’s” story of his years at Highland Park Cafeteria on Channel 5 News. What a great man! Looking forward to an occasion soon to enjoy this classic restaurant and hopefully meet Mr. B in person!
I had good memories of this place when it was in a different location. Negative was the food was very bland. Yes I know it is cafeteria food but still very bland. One of the line servers gave me a a huge eye roll when I did not answer one of her questions fast enough. I am a little worried about how she treats the people older then me. Now positive was the rest of the workers were nice. They had wonderful entertainment. Man playing the piano was lovely.
I frequent Highland Park cafeteria because of the clean facility, exceptionally pleasant atmosphere, high quality of food and taste, and both the dine in and take out experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
