Hubs and I heard about this spot and wanted a Lo-key night out. This spot did not disappoint! Great service, food was sublime and the craft drinks were top notch! Happy hour until 6:30 - highly recommend.

This place is great! Saw it on Instagram took my wife on a date and it was awesome. The meat is high quality, really worth the price. We got the JOA option for 2 and it was versatile and fulfilling in the cuts of meat they serve. Definitely could feed a 3rd person. Our waitress was super nice however, our experience was not like other Korean BBQs. Im not sure if its because we ordered the JOA option, but we did not cook our own food our waitress did and she was very attentive especially with 4 other tables she was servicing at the same time. Definitely a nice date place or a group outing!

Great Atmosphere and drinks, however the menu has been revamped and some of the previous items like the marinade short rib are not as great as the past. Also with ala carte only 4 side dishes are provided, the soup and salad can be purchased separately which does not make sense if you are getting 3 ala carte vs the JAO packageThis use to be the spot for Korean bbq not the case for me anymore

Good food and good service, but the value for money isn't there. If you just want to fill up on galbi this isn't the spot.

Absolutely loved this place, the food and service were exactly what I was hoping for, I love that they cook for you and explain everything as they prepare your food. Everything we tried was super tasty and the restaurant had a fun vibe, great for groups or even just a date night, we will definitely be back very soon. We also really enjoyed their specialty craft cocktails prepared by the bartender. A few stand-out dishes: shrimp pancake appetizer, the duroc pork belly and the mountain bulgogi are a must try!

I took my teenage daughters to this restaurant as a fun new place to try. We had seen it on instagram and it looked like a fun experience. Our waiter, Joseph, was outstanding. He came over and actually seasoned and cooked our food for us!! He explained everything on the menu and gave great recommendations. He was busy but never flustered. He really made the experience top notch!! We'll definitely go again!! ❤️

Absolutely worth every penny. I'm used to the thin AYCE kbbq so I wasn't sure about JOA since it cost more but it was 10000% worth it. We did the Texas set (serves 4 ppl) for $199. That's around $50 per person before tip and it's honestly not expensive if you truly think about it. The set came with salad, rice, soup, ice cream and unlimited side dishes. And everything was soo good. I was expecting the salad and soap to be okay but they really put in tons of love and care to every dish. (You have to ask for kimchi on the side/no charge) there was also so much meat and our server was kind enough to do most of the cooking for us. The vibe: date night in NYC, chill, a little bougie but don't feel like you have to dress up.

Had family birthday event here. We tried a lot of the starters and opted for 3 sets of the Taste of Texan, and 3 sets of pork belly for our group of 13. First, the starters, the fried mandu dumplings, it was maybe to bland with chives and pork even with the accompanying sauce, I would not order again. Shrimp pancake was not was I expected for a Korean pancake, it's more shrimp egg omelette than pancake - very tasty would order again. Fried beef ribs is great but the 6 bite size portions were tiny. Must order the beef tukbokki, deep flavorful and though very pricey the oysters (half dozen) were delicious. To accompany our grilled meats, we had the corn cheese, brussel sprouts, and egg fried rice all delicious. Now to the meats, though you have the traditional banchan of 4 sides, it was still lacking as well as the 3 seasoning/sauces with your meats. The meats were definitely steakhouse quality however except for the bulgogi it overall lacked seasoning and that smokey char you find at other traditional Korean bbq places. Everything is grilled over an induction heat grill by your server and they were very attentive. Recommend for their service and food selection.

The food was delicious and service was very good. The only issue was that our server did not speak English well nor understood us. However, she did have another server assist us. The staff overall was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to assist us. Ii would highly recommend this restaurant and I am sure we will return.

Loved dining and JOA Karen’s BBQ! Our waitress Lilly was awesome, explained the menu and was so friendly! She gave us the best recommendations and truly made our experience. Highly recommend the Taste of JOA and the fried dumplings - their cheesecake is also delicious.

Very yummy, very friendly service, she cooked the meat to perfection! Ambiance is very cool and modern. Probably great for a date night or any occasion really. Would come here again. Try the short rib.

I had a very valuable experience today, so I want to write it down and share it in detail.Since this is a k bbq restaurant located in Koreatown, I will write this in Korean because I want Koreans to avoid experiences like this.1. Hygiene: First of all, when you first sit down, is there candle wax or sauce on the chair? I confirmed that the same thing was there. I thought it could be possible and said it to the host, but he handed me a napkin and said, "I think the candle fell over earlier," and just looked at him. Instead of wiping it down with sanitizer or a rag, we directly put a napkin on the place where we would sit. I had a valuable experience wiping it down (something you would usually experience at a food court or McDonald's). Additionally, the table was very sticky, so it made a loud noise as soon as I lifted my arm, and the same thing happened with the chair, so when I got up to go to the bathroom, my pants also made a loud sticker sound. .2. Food: They provide 4 side dishes (cucumber, pickled vegetables, salad, broccoli), but all four taste below average. Even though I have never cooked before, I can easily prepare it at home. And the cucumbers taste a little spoiled, so you feel a little sick before eating the meat. It was a valuable experience. The meat tasted pretty good, but it was cooked at a speed that Koreans would never tolerate. It takes 30 minutes to grill one meat and the next, even though it's an omakase. I arrived at 7:30 and ate one strip, and it was about 8:40 when I tried to eat the second.Anyway, there were a lot of parts I omitted, but it was such a refreshing experience that I'm posting this with caution so that other Korean Americans don't have to go through similar situations. When you're craving meat, unless it's 5 minutes from your house, turn your steering wheel toward Carrollton. This is my personal experience, so please take note.
