Small portions but full of wonderful flavor. We loved every bite.

Did not know it was a hipster place. Boat noodles soup was thick, but was not as flavorful as I'm use to. For six dollar a bowl, and a tapas portion size.... It was about four bites. Both worth the price. Ordered the sausage. Came with two. But no accoutrements... ginger, peanuts , cabbage .... You know.. the stuff that usually comes with Laos or Thai sausage... price was 11 which is quite steep. Lemongrass flavor was good but very salty.

There aren't many restaurants in Dallas that I can say I love.. but y'all.. I LOVE KHAO. I'm a complete s***** for anything that comes out of their kitchen and find myself craving a bowl multiple times a week. Incredible food made with so much love and quality ingredients and great service; what more could you ask for? Thank you, Chef Donny and team. Y'all are real life angels

1. Tapa style southeast Asian inspired dishes. You’ll have to order 3+ dishes per person to have a feel of a full meal size. (I’m a woman and had 3 dishes easily); the idea itself isn’t bad. I oftentimes find myself wanting to order everything. But…2. Price was little bit too high for the portion. Especially the skewers. That’s $9. (On the picture) 3 piece meat per skewer. I wish there was an option to size up rather. Those 3 small dishes came out as about $27-30 including a tip. ??‍? All together in the first picture, probably $65. ?3. Customer service was on point including the chef. I didn’t like one dish and sent back. They didn’t have any issue to replace it with something else instead.4. You can order and pay via website. But didn’t like the fact that we can’t keep the tap open and have to tip in advance. It was meant to be an adventure so I’ll leave it at that. The way I enjoy my dining out considering factors, I will have to think hard to come back. Thanks for the great boat noodle though and experience! It was pretty close to what I had in Thailand.

I really like the tapas/small plate concept. You are able to try a little bit of everything, especially if you can't decide what to get. We ordered one of each noodles, the gizzards, beef and pork skewers, and the dessert, which were all delicious and packed with flavors. Almost all of the flavors are an acquired taste, so come with with an open-mindedness.Also, each noodle plates are about 2-3 bites, so if you plan to be cheap with your meal, don't come here and complain about the portion size. Each noodles are complex in flavor and most likely require some overnight cooking, which completely justifies the price point for each plate. But if you are planning to have a night out of adventurous eating without a budget, then definitely worth checking the place out.

So many delicious flavors and textures. The wait staff is friendly and helps with suggestions. The portions are small so you can experience a variety of dishes. We ordered two noodle dishes and two small bites to share. That was perfect for lunch. For dinner would probably add another of each. Everything here is delicious. The dipping sauce that came the Spring rolls was surprisingly amazing and one of my favorite parts of the meal. Garlic, shallot, fish sauce, and other great flavors.

The flavors here are varied and incredible. Fantastic 'small plates' (or rather bowls) concept that will have you ordering everything on the menu!

Wow! I've eaten a lifetime of asian food have never tasted the flavors that I had here. Familiar to thai and vietnamese food but with an extra burst of flavors. Loved the curry, boat noodles, meatballs and sausage, really everything we had was delicious!!

Friendly. Fast. Mouthwateringly delicious. This amazing noodle shop and patio is perfect for a night spent sharing their diverse and complex small plates. Trust me, get the gizzard.

I came here for a weekend lunch. Seating was outdoors in a shaded area and ordering was through an app with an option to pay with Apple Pay. Service was fast and the food was outstanding. I started with the Gang Thom Khem with fish. The fish tasted like dry-smoked salmon and was fantastic. The eggs are like a milder century egg to my American palette. It is a small serving so there will be room for more. Next I had the dry Khao soi. Again, it is a small serving, but served about as elegantly as a $6 dish can be. The fermented pork is savory and not a challenging flavor at all. I'll definitely come back here.

I can't believe I didn't leave a review sooner! Khao is an ultimate favorite, and something I crave and eat on a regular basis. It also helps that Khao is half a mile away, tucked into a comfy neighborhood that historically has a strong presence of Asian descendants in Dallas. I love the intimate space and authentic nod to Laos / Southeast Asia. Chef Donny and the staff at Khao are always awesome and provide excellent service. And yet, the real stars are the DISHES. Textures, flavors and depth galore. Sure, the plates are small and tapas-style which can add up, but it's worth it and fills you up more than you realize. Highly recommend ANY of the noodles (seriously), and also really nice if you're a vegetarian/vegan with the multiple options to vegan-ize select menu items, which can be hard to find in Dallas! As a pescatarian, my top favorites are the yao seen kao poon (Lao spring rolls), mushroom jerky, sakoo, mee katee and boat noodles. Always get picked greens on the side, because it's just a must and that's how you eat SEA-style (Southeast Asian). My partner and friends who eat meat always really enjoy the meat-dishes, too! It's a small place, so be ready to wait, eat outside, or just order takeout. Major upside, if you get to-go, you get to put all the leftover Thai fried garlic and Thai dried chili on all your food you eat at home for an extra *Chef's Kiss* flavor. (I do this with my avocado toast, pasta, and rice I make at home.)

Khao was nothing but amazing. I ordered a few things for pick up during covid and everything was delicious. I made a whole picnic out on their shared patio and was thoroughly impressed. If you're looking for a great noodle shop that's in Dallas this is it.

I love the concept, like that the portion is small so you can try many items. I ordered two different noodles, fried gizzards (highly recommend), the tarp balls dessert with coconut milk. Everything was good! You have to order multiple items to get full.

First time trying this place and really loved the flavors of the food. A bit pricey for such a small portion though.
