Someone referred me to this restaurant, I eat BBQ all the time and I know what to look for and the taste. I was unfortunately disappointed in the food, I spent 53.00, brisket is what I love and what I got, it had allot of fat but was very tender. I wanted a brisket sandwich, but I thought it would have been on a bun, but I recieved sliced bread. I got ribs but I didn't see any bark on the top, it looked as put in the oven and baked, I got some BBQ chicken, but when I looked on the website, the bbq was smoked and dark is what I liked, but this chicken was looked at it was baked in the oven. Where is the hickory smoke taste? Won't return.

Our 1st night in Bishop's Art District of Dallas we found this BBQ gem! Highly recommend the Brisket or Turkey and sides of Coleslaw and Mac & Cheese. Delish!

This is consistently one of my Top 3 BBQ joints in the DFW area along with Terry Blacks and Hutchins BBQ.

I got some sliced brisket for lunch the day before Thanksgiving. This was the first time I'd been here in quite a few years. The brisket had little flavor. There was not much taste to it other than the sauce that I put on it.

Disappointing.

Second time I have tried Lockhart in ten years and there is a reason I will not try it for another ten years. Texas Twinkies were undercooked, jalapeno was still overly crunchy and the bacon was extremely rubbery to the point you could not chew through a lot of it. The Mac and cheese had a very strange after taste and the sausage was clearly old, center was brown which is what sausage does when it gets old. The inside was basically mush. The deviled egg was not bad but if I am going to get barbecue, I am not going there for eggs.

There are better barbecue places in DFW that do not disappoint. Check these out:

1. Hutchins - Frisco or McKinney not Southlake (EVERYTHING)
2. Cattleack (Little bit of everything)
3. Hurtado (Little bit of everything)
4. Zavala's (Pork Spare Ribs)
5. Heim (Pork Belly Burnt ends and Beef Rib)

Food, atmosphere and service was great!! Brisket was tender and well seasoned, very flavorful. Spicy mac n cheese had a nice kick and was served fresh.

Brisket was some of the best tasted. So good I forgot to take pics lol. Very flavorful and melted in your mouth. Not a big place but had enough tables and chairs. Went during lunch so not as busy as you would expect. We waited about 10 mins. The Mac and cheese was also the sweet tea. Definitely will go back again!

Parking: There is a larger parking lot 5 min walk South East of the restaurant.

Food was alright. Wish they had more options. Basic smoke house. Everything is separate. Have to buy evrthing by the pound. Small menu to choose from. I would of though for the location it would be great but it's alright. Brisket was a bit dry. Sausage was alright. Ribs were alright not as tender as i would like.. Mac and cheese was good. No chop beef sandwiches, no loaded potatoes.

We got a smoked turkey for Thanksgiving since we were coming in from out of town and didn't have time to mess with the main dish. It was one of the tastiest birds I've ever had. One small issue: We were not warned that the turkey was frozen, so we had some timing issues with our meal. It all worked out in the end, though, and I would go back to Lockhart's anytime.

This place is absolutely eclectic. So glad I stopped in at Lockhart smokehouse. I was never gonna leave Dallas without at least trying some Texas BBQ. I tried some beef brisket, a jalapeño cheese sausage coil, One rib, Some brisket, baked beans, and blue cheese coleslaw. It was around $50 US which converted to $80 Canadian. I know barbeque is never cheap. It was a little while so thank God the food was delicious. I got to go over and grab all sorts of Pickled Pickles and onions. The guy gave me some bread to make a sandwich if I chose. The food itself is great. The service was not bad. It was 3 PM on a Tuesday so it was dead inside, but I would definitely go back. I’d recommend the beef brisket and the blue cheese coleslaw for sure.
