The food was fantastic and the restaurant atmosphere was very lively and fun. The service staff was also very polite and friendly. My only problem was that we were being rushed through our meal. We sat at 8pm and it seemed like they were very eager to turn the table again before the end of the night. We felt pretty rushed throughout the meal, but overall had a great time.
This has easily become one of my favorite establishments to patronize. Yes it’s visually nice but I care more about the actual service and food. It’s all consistently to my liking.

I can't express enough how wonderful the experience was! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for a fantastic evening. The decor is beautiful and creates a cozy yet elegant vibe. The service was impeccable; our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu. She helped us navigate the delicious offerings, making excellent recommendations.I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu. High expectations met! I was anticipating a lot visiting Mar y Sol Cocina Latina, first; I’m quite familiar with the Lombardi Family Concepts and their standards; second; I’m someone whose called the Riviera Maya home for several years and I was stimulated to experience their version of a Tulum inspired concept, in a metroplex brimming with Latin influenced restaurants. Although there’re a few design related issues, Mar y Sol is wonderful! The uniformity of the staff and ambiance are refreshing. Table side drink presentations, and fairly priced menu selections, with generous portions we all can get into. The luminous venue is a welcomed diversion from the dark & sultry vibe that’s become the norm in Dallas. (Not My Designs!) The diversity of the audience is a major plus for me, along with multiple seating options from their substantial bar to varied table size’s for families and groups. While weekdays are bit more chill, Thursdays thru Saturday evenings, Mar y Sol comes to life with a DJ to add to your festive experience. Espero verte allí pronto! Xoxo Lorenzo!!

Honestly, the lomo saltado is nothing like it! Horrible and super spicy! Nothing like the Peruvian lomo salteado! They should call it sautéed potatoes! The meat is tough and there are only 3 pieces of meat. It's horrible! Not recommended.

I originally ordered the $33 steak. I don’t remember the name, but it was pretty mid and came out cold. Valerie was quick to offer me a new meal, so I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were wonderful!! 10/10!! We also got the cheese appetizer which was delicious and I highly recommend. My drink was fine, but my cappuccino was even better!

The atmosphere was great, I love the cuban uniforms, everything was decorated very well, our server was very attentive, the manager was very sweet, everyone was great. We had the queso appetizer and although the food presentation was great, it didn’t have much flavor to it oddly. Our Sea Bass and Pollo a la Brasa tasted delicious ?. The desserts were…ok. Not worth getting fat over but still good. The concern with my 3 star review is that one of the garnishing front chefs was garnishing our(and everyone elses food) using his dirty hands. They have an open kitchen so we could see this man scratching his head, then using the same hand to garnish the food. Using his phone(one of the dirtiest things we carry) and garnish. Stick food into his mouth(partial fingers in mouth) and garnish ?. We informed the manager and she was very sweet and addressed it right away. The problem is AFTER she collectively addressed it with the staff, it didnt fix the problem. The man continued to scratch his head, etc with the same garnishing hand. He at least started using a spoon for some of the garnishes ? and eventually they brought out gloves but if you’re still scratching your head with the gloves…it doesn’t change a thing. Anyways, we appreciate the manager comping some of our food but I don’t think we can come back seeing that the staff is so careless with sanitation guidelines. I will add that after a while we noticed the staff delivering the food to the table were also garnishing with uncleaned hands before bringing the food to the table. It’s clearly a big problem that needs to be addressed.

SERVICE WAS AWFUL. The server was nice enough, BUT not experienced enough to NOT write down the order.
- The server NEVER checked in on us for second round of drink or refills.. I had to pour my own water that we paid for.
- Served Soup with NO SPOON.. it took about 10 minutes to get one
- DJ was ????? - Interior ?????
Might give it another shot. Just NOT in that servers section!
The 5 star rating is because the owners should not be penalized for bad staff mistakes. But they should use this type of feedback to make corrections.
