Gem of a place in East Dallas. Small but cozy, good service, great food every time we have been. It's in our regular rotation in this part of town.

Fantastic, funky neighborhood spot with a simple yet delicious menu. We had the focaccia and the deviled eggs to start, then shared the filet au poivre and lemon caper chicken. The chicken was a bit more dredged & fried than I was expecting but delicious nonetheless. We will absolutely be coming back.Parking: There were limited spots out front and was hard to tell what was an actual spot or not, so just head to the back lot and you can enter the restaurant through the back patio.

Dined in on February 3rd.Why open for brunch if you aren’t going to make your own waffles? The chicken and waffles are tiny little pieces of chicken on frozen waffles. Very strange. But the atmosphere was cute, our server was nice, the bloody mary bar was cool, and the deviled eggs were yummy.

Super cute place in an unassuming location. Great service and really good food. I definitely recommend making a reservation as it's a smaller restaurant. We took my parents there, and my mom had the salmon, my dad had pizza, I had the lemon caper chicken, and my partner had the burger and fries. Although there was variety in what we ordered, we all really enjoyed our meals. Highly recommend trying the Gouda grits! Oh, and there's a cute outdoor space that's about the same size as the inside of the restaurant if you want to sit outside. Great spot for a date night. We will be back!

Service was slow. Food orders, for example, with instructions to remove bleu cheese, are not followed when served. I ordered the pork chop, and it was bland. My wife ordered the halibut, which had a pronounced fishy smell. I'm not impressed--there are much better options for the price point and service experience.

From appetizer to entree to dessert, everything was on point. We’ve tried the deviled eggs, the Reuben fries, and the Texas Twinkies, and they’re all savory, rich, and filling. Perfectly made on all our visits. I like a little spice in my drinks, and the spicy margarita hits the spot with its tajin rim. Plus I love the cute little character they put on the rim. My husband is a chocolate fan and loves their flourless chocolate cake. Ideal spot for a date night or a lowkey dinner. Service has been top notch every time we’ve visited. Perfect neighborhood gem!

/////McRae's reached out to address this issue, and we are appreciative./////We have eaten at McRae's before, and reviewed them positively under the spouse's account. But rather than edit that one, we're posting my review as this was a ROUGH experience, and we feel management needs to know. We have a pretty good idea that by the end of Valentine's night they'll know, but this was not a positive experience for us.The Valentine's special was a Prix Fixe meal, but things started poorly when the appetizers arrived. The deviled eggs were only one egg, halved, unlike the three in the normal appetizer portion. The crostini were slightly stale, although the topping was nice. The lobster bisque soup was the first real issue. Between our table and the two flanking us, 5 bisques were ordered. Only two were finished, with the other three sent back for overly salted flavour. And no one was brought a spoon. We all had to ask for spoons. For soup. Then, well, the main course. There were only four options. We ordered the ravioli and the surf and turf. It was almost an hour in our seats when the server brought the ravioli and ... halibut. So, back went the food and we waited another ten minutes for the server to bring back surf and turf and ... halibut. *sigh* When the food was finally correct the surf and turf, having toured the floor and been looked over by managers was room temperature, both the steak and lobster tail were cold. They were taken away and we presume microwaved. The menu mentions Fresno pepper on a few things, but no spices are mentioned with the lobster, yet ours was spicy, enough to burn the wife's lips. Cross contamination? Kitchen implements handling the wrong foods? We know management were aware, we watched the server take the plates to them and look over at us in discussion. No manager ever dropped by. Not even to apologise for the delay. We should mention here we were offered a cocktail as a comp, but we didn't want a drink, we had one each and that was all we wanted. And on that note, the gin and tonic I ordered was apparently Bombay Sapphire, but that was, frankly, the most plain, watery G&T I've had since college. There was no bite to the tonic, no fizz to it, and even after finishing, I never tasted the gin. Bombay Sapphire? Done a disservice. And having offered us a $13 cocktail as compensation, and we declined, neither of the other drinks were comped. So, having booked a 5.15 table, arrived at 5.05 and expected to leave shortly after 6, we had to rush the server to bring our desserts to go and the cheque and scraped out right at 7.We want McRae's to be the place to go for special meals. But we don't expect to ever go back for a New Year, or Thanksgiving or Valentines meal. This was absolutely, positively not worth the time, frustration and effort. Two meals, two mostly dissatisfied customers (all three tables in our cluster were very, very patient and polite) and $240 later. Probably our last visit to McRae's.

We had an ok brunch here recently. We didn't have a reservation but got there right when it opened at 11. We were the first people there, but without a reservation they were hesitant to sit us, which I understand. They were "out of high chairs" but were able to sit us in a booth as long as we were done by 12:30. The food was ok. The deviled eggs were a good appetizer. The Texas Twinkies and chicken and waffles had good flavor. The service was good. There's plenty of seating in the restaurant, patio and bar area. I would suggest a reservation, although in the hour we were there, several people were seated without reservations because of several "no shows." We would be back to try dinner or a cocktail, but not with our daughter. Too

$3.00 up-charge for an Old Fashioned with house whiskey. Bartender says it was for the bitters. An Old Fashioned uses three dashes of bitters at the most. She said every place charges this. A block away Goodfriend charges $9 for an Old Fashioned and no up-charge for bitters. A 4 oz bottle of Bitters cost $13 and there are approximately 150 dashes in a bottle. Each bottle will make approximately 50 cocktails. They are profiting $137 for each bottle. The place has a great atmosphere but it’s not worth the cost. Needless to say. I won’t be back.

Great vibe! Wonderful service and great food. Loved my blue cheese filet. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

Made reservations for dinner and excited to visit a new place that would be a little more upscale in the area. Cocktails were nice- food was a little overdone- had salmon and chicken- both a little tough and chewy to cut through with dinner knife- would have been nice to have better cutlery. Service was not attentive- at all.

Fun atmosphere, great food. When it is busy service can bog down, but staff is great.

Dinner at McRae's for two on Valentine's. Bill was $375. Cocktails and wine were good. Service good considering the Valentine's crush. But the pre-set food was so disappointing. The lobster bisque was too heavily salted. The lobster was good but the steak on the surf and turf was mediocre. The seafood ravioli was way over spiced. For the price and the expectations we had for MCRae's, we were sorely disappointed. I think I'd probably Skip Valentine's Day there next year.

Love this place...the service is great. Amelia is the sweetest bartender. She will greet you with the biggest smile and remembers your name! Food is great too. Love the ambiance
