I’m not sure how they have 4.8 stars, the food is not great at all. My rice was burnt. The beans were flavorless. I ordered the fajitas and they put cheese on them. I have never been to a restaurant where I ordered fajitas and they put shredded cheese on top, that just killed the flavor to be honest this place will not be around much longer.

I've never had a bad meal here, they've all been excellent. Had the Terra y Mar (Turf and Surf) dinner last night, it came out piping hot to the point I had to wait a bit for it to cool. The shrimp were perfectly done as was the skirt steak. The veggies balanced out the plate well and the spice wasn't overwhelming, but definitely there and had a nice slow burn that sneaks up on you.The staff was very attentive as always. My glass was never empty. Staff wasn't pushy either and didn't push hard on upsells, which is a big bonus in my book. The strip that Mixtitos is in is still up and coming with Mixtitos being the anchor that hopefully brings in some more great businesses. Hopefully more improvements can be made to make the area more pedestrian friendly.

Had an excellent dinner at Mixtitos Kitchen at Grand & Samuell last night and encourage everyone to support a locally-owned gem of an establishment in our area. There aren't too many places like this, so show it some well-deserved love and add it to your restaurant rotation. The chips were fresh, hot and delicious, the green and red salsas were fantastic, service was fast, friendly and attentive, the chef-owner was gracious, and his talent and dedication deserves some neighborhood support.I had the Japanese shepherd's pie, and I highly recommend this dish. I grew up eating Japanese curry, and this is an excellent rendition with some Mexican elements added--pickled jalapeño and pickled red onions--that add welcome acidity and a touch of heat. One of my dining companions ordered the $7.99 Taco Tuesday special (3 tacos, rice and beans) and enjoyed the tacos so much he ordered two more. The other ordered the cheesy chicken tacos, which came with a tantalizing griddled cheese crisp tucked inside each taco. The drinks were all excellent, and the bartender is more than happy to customize drinks for patrons. I asked for fresh jalapeño to be added to my margarita, and the immediately noticeable peppery flavor and heat showed he took care to muddle and incorporate the ingredient. My dining companions let him prepare a mezcal-based beverage of his choosing, and he delighted them with a dragonfruit sour. The ambience is classic neighborhood cantina, the bar area is cozy and appealing, the menu options are both familiar and unique, and the prices are more than reasonable. Take a break from the chains and big guys and keep this gem in the crown of East Dallas!

Me and my husband came here to eat on a Sunday around 1pm. It was pretty empty. We ordered the Milanese and the cheesy chicken tacos. The rice was hard and old, and the beans were sour like they were used from the previous day. My chicken tacos were just OK. And my husbands Milanese was chewy. Not sure if it was just an off day or not because the chips & salsa were good. But I would just say don’t serve the rice and beans unless they are fresh cause we could tell. Thanks

This place is heaven!! I had an early dinner here with my sisters and it was amazing. The service was above and beyond!! The chef came out and talked to everyone. I ate the Guacamole appetizer and the Chicken Pasta as a main and it was super yummy!! It was a little spicy with a great creamy sauce. To top off the dinner with a dessert of Churros and Ice Cream!! This is the best place to eat at for 10/10 food, service and atmosphere!

They had a lot of good food options. Their shrimp soup was good and light. I enjoyed their veggie tempura dish. Neat concept.

We ate here for lunch after visiting the Arboretum. Really fantastic meal and fun speaking with the chef about all of the food. My dad had the shepherds pie and loved it. I had the croque monsieur and it blew me away! My son had the kids grilled cheese and he loved it and had leftovers for dinner it was so big!I felt like the prices were very appropriate for the portion and the quality of the food was exceptional. The decor was nice, the restaurant was very clean. If I lived in the area I'd eat here all the time. It's the perfect neighborhood restaurant! Really delicious, filling food.

My boyfriend and I decided to give Mixititos a try randomly on a Sunday afternoon, and we are so glad we did. What we originally thought was just a regular Mexican restaurant, turned out to be a Mexican/Japanese/French fusion restaurant…we consider ourselves a little more cultured when it comes to food, so this was actually such a nice surprise! Don’t let the fusion concept deter you, because the food here is fresh, tasty, and perfectly portioned and you’ll be able to find something here for your taste buds. Trust. From the moment we stepped in, the welcoming staff set the stage for a pleasant dining experience. The Chef/Owner Jose Luis came over after being seated and served our drinks. He warmly greeted us, chatted for a bit, and offered some suggestions. As someone who works in customer service and who also has their own business, I was very impressed by this. Any good business owner knows that making a good impression the minute you interact with a new customer, sets the tone….and he definitely did that. The great service didn’t stop there though because our server was also amazing. I only wish I would have gotten his name so I could shout him out in this review. Now for the food….let’s start with the appetizer. We both had our daughter with us and she is a queso lover and will immediately let us know if she approves or not (you know kids can be the most harshest critic haha). She ordered the Chori-Queso Fondue. This isn’t her typical type of queso she has had at other places so I was suprised when she cleared her plate by eating every bit and gave us a nod and thumbs up of approval.Next were the entrees. I took the chefs suggestion of the Schnitzel Sandwich with truffle fries. This thinly sliced and breaded tenderloin sandwich was so tasty and a good sized portion. My boyfriend took the chefs suggestion of the tacos with the servers suggestion of descada meat ( mix of steak, chorizo, sausage, bacon, pork, and onions). The order came with 3 tacos and they were filllllled with descada and the toppings. It also came with a side of rice and beans. These tacos were some of the most flavorful tacos we have had at a sit down restaurant in awhile! My daughter had the Chicken and Fries which basically was 3 breaded chicken strips with a side of truffle fries. The strips were huge and freshly battered and fried. These were definitely not your typical frozen and bagged Tyson dried chicken strip type of tenders that other restaurants will try to use haha. All in all, we had no complaints over the food at all. You can tell everything was made scratch style. The prices are certainly justified by the portion size and the quality of it all. Before leaving, the chef came back to ask us our thoughts on the food. We also chatted a bit with him on the concept of the restaurant and the menu, and how he got started. You can tell he really does take pride in the food and the restaurant. It really shows that he works hard to make each guests experience pleasant. With impeccable service and a flavorful eclectic menu, we would 10/10 recommend Mixtitos, and we definitely will be back!
