I rarely leave negative food reviews, but this one warrants honesty. Very disappointed with this experience, food (3/5) customer service (1/5). The chicken wings, shrimp spring rolls, coffee and thai tea was fine, and the duck curry was genuinely good—the only standout dish of the meal. But for a Michelin-recognized restaurant, “fine” isn’t enough. My husband and I travel extensively with the primary goal of exploring food and culture, and we often use the Michelin Guide to help choose our destinations. That’s how we found ourselves 1,132 miles from home, and 2-hour round trip from our lodging excited to try Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen’s Pho.

Naturally, 24-hour broth sets high expectations - you think rich, aromatic, and deeply flavorful. Unfortunately, what arrived was a large bowl of what tasted like plain non-hot water with noodles, basil, and beef slices. There was no aroma, no depth, and absolutely no spice—literally no flavor at all. We did not eat it.

When the manager checked in, we explained the issue with the Spicy Pho. She explained that the pho is often considered too spicy by guests, so they don’t include the spice—and offered to bring the seasoning so we could add it ourselves. While the intention may have been sincere, this practice is deeply problematic. Ordering Spicy Pho and intentionally being served flavorless broth because the spice was purposefully withheld does not align with what is advertised on the menu.

More concerning, we were told the item could not be removed from the bill despite barely being touched, even after it was acknowledged that the dish was not served as described.

Habits like labeling and serving dishes differently than advertised—even if well-intended—can lead to serious issues for an establishment. I would not be surprised if this approach results in legal trouble down the road:
• intentionally omits the spice and defining ingredients
• Serves a materially different product
• Still labels and charges it as the advertised item
That can qualify as a misrepresentation of good. Clear communication and consistency matter, especially at this level.

We left feeling let down rather than impressed. I hope this was just an off day, but based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. Honesty and transparency go a long way—particularly for a Michelin-recognized establishment.

Service and presentation were good. The food, however, seemed to be made to be more friendly to non-Vietnamese eaters.

The meat and dipping sauce in their version of Bun cha Hanoi were salty compared to what you would have in Hanoi. Vietnamese food, especially in Hanoi, is known for its lightness so that some would find it tasteless without modification.

Their Bun Bo Hue had too much of lemongrass flavor, maybe to mask the shrimp paste that would be repugnant to the uninitiated.

I would recommend this restaurant as an entry to Vietnamese cuisine.

We ordered noodles to-go. The broth was perfectly seasoned and was balanced by the quail eggs, wontons, char su pork slices and shrimp. The service was fast and staff were friendly. The atmosphere was nice with pleasant Vietnamese music playing in the background. Thoroughly enjoyed having authentic Vietnamese food option in Lower Greenville Dallas area.

Great atmosphere, service, and good. This place feels modern, clean, and authentic. What an amazing dining experience. The food was tasty, clean, and left us feeling satisfied not gross walking out of the restaurant. Definitely recommend. Also, female owned, multiple awards, and Michelin stars.

We had the chicken fried rice and beef pho.
New to me the fried rice had crunchy rice bits that were not pleasant, we were informed by our waiter thats just how it is.
It was unpleasant to eat.
Everything else was alright.
Pho was way too salty near the end.

Ordered the pho, which was good - the broth is perfect, but the beef a bit chewy. It might have been left cooking for too long.
By biggest issue is that i felt very thirsty afterward (1 hr later) that usually indicative of high level of MSG being used.
Other that that the vibe and service were top-notch.

Went to eat here with a friend. Fried rice was pretty good. Very artistic. But I fell in love with the egg iced coffee.. coming from Canada. I have not experienced a vietnamese iced Coffee like this... it made me 😢 😭 😿 😢

You rock Carol!

Next time I will try the spicy beef pho...it is too bad they do not have bahn mi here...

Update: I tried their beef pho. I am not vietnamese but this is one of the most high quality phos I have ever eaten... and I have tried like 10+ pho places. Enough to drive all the way from Arlington to get my pho fix.

Absolutely superb food, the glazed chicken special was so tasty, and the chicken broth that accompanied it was one of the best broths I have ever had. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls was incredible too. Great service also.
