The overall experience was awesome, but with one hiccup. It took our drinks almost 30 minutes to get to our table. We were well into finishing our entrees when the drinks arrived. Our waiter was very apologetic and explained that there was some sort of mixup with the computers that caused the delay. The drinks were comped so that made it better. Food was great and the drinks were well worth the wait. My fiancée and I will definitely be back.
Unpleasant customer service ever
Enjoyed La Palma and then stepped into Ghost Donkey, the attached speakeasy, for a drink too.
The food was delicious, the staff was very attentive, the vibe was really cool. I was really impressed with how quickly the food and drinks came out as well. We will definitely be back!
I arrived 25 min late to my reservation but they were still able to accommodate us. The food & drinks were delicious and the service was great.
I don’t see this place lasting long if things don’t improve. It seems like the staff isn’t being properly trained, and the communication is seriously lacking. I came in around 4 PM and let the host know I didn’t have a reservation. Her attitude noticeably changed, and without checking anything, she immediately told me it would be a 2-hour wait—but I could sit in the “speakeasy” instead.
I walked in and sat in what I assumed was the speakeasy area, since it was empty. After about 15 minutes, a waitress finally came over. When I asked if it was happy hour, she said yes and then walked off. She never returned.
Instead, the host came back and told us we couldn’t sit there and needed to move to the *actual* speakeasy. When I asked where that was, she pointed toward the bathrooms. I asked why the waitress hadn’t just told us that, and the host said, “She thought y’all would be trouble if she asked you to move, so she asked me to do it.” That comment felt extremely inappropriate—and frankly, discriminatory. Why would she assume that just because we’re Black?
This place really needs better communication and training. If you're going to direct people to a hidden area like a speakeasy, make sure your instructions are clear. And most importantly, don’t judge your guests based on how they look this is Deep Ellum your guests are very diverse.
Faye at the host stand is such a sweetheart, she made our experience even better. The manager was very attentive and listened to our concerns. Ask for Jeremy as your server he is AMAZING!
I had high hopes for Palma given all the hype, but unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by the ridiculously long wait time. Even with a reservation, we waited over 2.5 hours just to be seated — and no one offered any updates or apologies during that time. It felt extremely disorganized and unprofessional, especially for a place that markets itself as upscale.
The vibe and décor are cute, but it’s hard to enjoy any of that when you’re left standing around with zero communication. It honestly felt like our time wasn’t valued at all. Not sure if I’ll be coming back anytime soon.
First time here …. NOBODY waited on us for 20 minutes. We stopped a lady and asked her for menus and she disappeared , had to ask someone else for the menus. Then she wanna come and act like she wanna take our order. After she said we look like babies😭 like wthellly??? Then when we finally got our table that we was on the waitlist for the lady gonna not even greet us but ask us about a tab at the bar we paid for already…. bananas 2/10
Took my wife on anniversary date here, been planning this day for weeks. I couldn’t wait to show her the place but once we got there we got sit where we couldn’t see anything an also my chicken sandwich that I took a couple bites of was literally a big piece of fat and there nothing I hate more than fat. My wife threw up just by looking at it because I opened it up to show the staff. They handled it very well and professional but like come on yall you feed that to animals not a person. I’m very disappointed & embarrassed for my first time being there. My wife was so upset thanks for ruining our day.
Recently visited here with friend and everything was a 10/10!! Kai was awesome, pleasant and polite. She shared great recommendations and maintained outstanding customer service skills! Will definitely be visiting again!

The food, the service and the atmosphere was all top-tier, we really enjoyed ourselves and The sushi and drinks was definitely my favorite. I can for sure See myself coming by here again. My server kaiya was amazing, from checking in, answering questions and providing great suggestions.
Kaiya is definitely the best server I ever had! Her attentiveness and attention to detail is great! Food was good. I will definitely be back
Walked into Palma with my boyfriend at 6:35pm. Greeted by a half-dozen staff at the host stand no smiles, no urgency. We were told, “Sorry, we’re fully booked reservation only.” Strange, considering the sea of untouched tables behind them.
But maybe I forgot my glasses… because I couldn’t see a single person actually seated in the dining area.
We tried the bar next only to be told that half of it was closed. It wasn’t busy. It wasn’t full. It was just… unbothered.
One of the hosts even told us the bar was open on both sides. But when we sat down, the bartender informed us that section was off-limits. So which was it?
Out of curiosity, we pulled up the reservation system right there on the spot. Slots were wide open every 15 minutes from 6:45 through the evening.
So what were we really being told?
If your team can’t accommodate a walk-in in an empty restaurant with live, open reservations, just be honest. We would’ve understood that it’s too much to handle. Instead, we got conflicting stories and closed-off service in a wide-open space.
But hey…… that’s how these Deep Ellum spots go. Flashy launch, zero follow through, and six months later? A “For Lease” sign where the menu used to be. 😃
P.S. It’s a rainy day in Dallas …. No one is out and about.
Weber to try this new experience at Palma. Staff was rude dirty and was un compliance with seating us for the table told me that it was only reservation only and the area table was reserved yet everywhere I looked tables were. empty staff was walking around doing nothing host did not want to help us. send us to a hostess, who is even more rude in telling us we have to walk away Because it was only reservation only empty. Would love to try this new experience yet staff makes me not wanna even touch the place. Hope the menu was good and you guys survive.
Rian was the reason this was such a great experience. We had the full drink menu and he walked us through the whole menu. I will be coming back because of him.
