First time here. We came because it has many good reviews. I know any restaurant can have a bad day; however we arrived when it opened, and our food was terrible. Not only were the brisket and fries cold, not room temp but COLD, but also the brisket was dry and inedible. All of our food went in the trash. I feel certain it was not fresh. Like I said, any place can have a bad day, but that was enough for me…. also, they don’t take cash.

Finally made it here on a busy Saturday in Deep Ellum. Was left very underwhelmed from start to finish, restaurant wasn’t welcoming/inviting at all, that these types of places are but I didn’t like the vibes when we walked in. Appeared not very clean. We came to place an order to go. A small sign pointed to the bar for “To Go” orders. The one guy at the bar was swamped, while sitting at one end of the bar we asked for a menu and he waved them to us but sat the menus down at the opposite end of the bar, this forced us to get up to sit where he placed the menu. Seems petty? This is how our first experience was. We were ready to place an order but the bartender again was swamped, so I decided to ask the lady at the regular counter if we could order there, she said yes here or at the bar. I got the impression she rathered us do it at the bar, so we did. Not sure why you have to order with a bartender when there’s ZERO people in the “Dine-in” line. Food came out fairly quick. Sliced brisket was dry, not juicy but more on the dry side. Burnt end were a huge disappointment for the cost as they were dry af too. Greens were delicious and the Mac and cheese was good too. We got there at 530 on 5/31. I prefer to try these sorts of places early to get the freshest meats, I suspect I should’ve done the same here. I probably wouldn’t try them again based on experience and food quality, instead I’ll go to Hutchins BBQ in Frisco. Places like Terry Blacks and HUTCHINS BBQ DO NOT MISS! Considering how busy it was min Deep Ellum on Saturday and not many ppl at PL should have been a red flag, I just didn’t want to take the 50 minute drive to Hutchins BBQ

Amazing barbecue! We got The Trough, which would be perfect for 4-6 people along with some sides. Try the locally made unique sodas!

As a KC native, I had to stop by this DDD stop to experience some real TX BBQ. We ordered the Hot Mess and 3 meat combo with collard greens and beans. The hot mess was delicious and so were the greens. As for the actual meat, not so much. Now I'm not sure if this is TX thing, but in KC we serve hot meat. The 3 meats we ordered in the como were all cold. The burnt ends were pretty tough and dry, the pork rib flavor and tenderness was ok(even cold), and the brisket was 90% fat and cold. The atmosphere was decent, minus the flies. Live music outdoors was a nice touch.

All in all, I'm not sure if this was the TX BBQ experience I was looking for. I think I have some words for Guy....

First time in Dallas Pecan Lounge was recommended for the best bbq wow what a let down. The ribs were burnt and chewy the brisket was cut too thick and was hard to chew. I regret going there not a good experience for bbq 😕

Let me preface my review by saying we enjoy trying new places and giving positive reviews when warranted. We have been to numerous BBQ places in the DFW area that are said to be some of the best. This place, however, did not live up to the hype. Food was just OK. Brisket was dry and the sides (which should have been hot) were cold. Waffle fries in particular seemed like they had been sitting out for a bit and not fresh. On top of the food issues, whoever was working the counter taking the orders was not pleasant at all. Not sure is she was having a bad day or if it’s the usual but it was so bad that even if the food was excellent, the service would deter me from returning. A positive-the staff at the food pick up window was pleasant, even though things were missing from our order initially.

If you want to have brisket in downtown Dallas, there is literally only one place to go to.

Visited this restaurant during our 1 day trip in Dallas for a concert. It was one of the best experiences we ever had.
My wife didn't use to eat beef but that all changed once we stepped inside. You'll be greeted by a cooked red meat smell you can't forget.
Now we are trying different brisket recipes at home.

The giant beef rib is a must try. It literally melts of the bone. The brisket is also one of the best we ever had.

First and last experience. Food was obviously old and cold. What a waste of $80!

This is where I take my out-of-town family for the best BBQ in town! And I’m vegan! I used to eat here pre-veganism. But there is a vegan restaurant right across the street that I go to when my guests are eating at this spot. It’s truly delicious and has a great atmosphere.
