My boyfriend Michael Suhar took me here on a tour of all things interesting. Being from Akron Ohio we have Quaker Square. This is along the same lines, although it doesn't seem to compare. It's a cute little shop with lots of interesting things in it, but I was very quickly bored. I was merely a tagalong it seemed on this trip while he shopped. He didn't point anything out, nor did the staff offer up any kind of explanation of their purpose. You'd think a store this old with such rich history the staff would offer up a tour and explain things. I was longing for a seat and almost went back to the car but didn't want to be rude. And very disappointed that all the really cool Texas t-shirts didn't have very many sizes. Mick dropped the ball on this one. I would of gladly skipped it and only recommend it if you need certain fresh spices. It's not tour worthy at all.

Not open to the public, but if your business needs unique spices or custom rubs or sauces, use them!!!

The Dallas location is not a retail location (sad) and is not open to the public. The retail spice shop (which is awesome) is on 8th Avenue in Ft. Worth.

Pendery's customer service is second to none. The spices are always fresh and ordering is easy. I highly recommend them.

This is THE worst website I have ever experienced for trying to buy an item! First, they have a great sale on NON-SPICE items on their website. HOWEVER, when you try and buy an item on the website, it will add to the cart but NOT show the item when you checkout! I phoned the store, which is located in Dallas where I live, and they went through a convoluted process to try and force the website to operate properly but NOT contact their web designer to inform them of the problem. I also wanted to simply pick the item up at their physical location but the guy I spoke to said that was not possible, the sale was ONLY good for the on-line purchase! (I guess they like hammering their customers when possible with needless shipping charges plus, if I went to their store, I WOULD definitely purchase MORE SPICES!) The item I wanted cost $6.25 and the shipping cost only added another $5.99... almost doubling the price! These people have zero knowledge of E-commerce and even less about attracting and keeping a NEW customer! FYI... THE goal is to SELL PRODUCTS and if possible, get customers to come into your store to sell MORE PRODUCTS! Wow, what marketing genius! I hope the owner reads this so he can give this guy a class in Marketing & Sales-101 but you can't fix stupid. You are losing business... WAKE UP!

Ordered a Christmas gift online Dec. 6. Ten days later received email they declined the temporary cc I had used (my usual, primary debit card had been lost and subsequently replaced). Called to give an updated card number, despite being SO surprised it had taken that long to process the order. Was told it would not be in hand by Christmas. Cancelled order.Went to a new local place in KC - found what I ordered here, for less than half the price Pendery's tried to sell it for. #Shoplocal!

Pendery's World of Chiles & Spices does an awesome mail-order business from their warehouse location in Dallas. If the reader can't make it to their Fort Worth retail stores, then definitely go to their website at: and download a PDF version of their catalog. And what a catalog it is. It has something for everyone. They offer an astounding array of cooking and serving utensils. They have 12 pages of spices and herbs excluding chiles, and 6 pages of ground chiles, blends, chili powders & chili mixes, and dried whole pods. Some of my favorites are: Tellicherry black pepper from Sri Lanka- not your ordinary table pepper, it is richer, more floral, and much less bitter than typical black pepper from the grocery store, and they grind it right before they ship it, Chimayo, Guajillo, Pasillo Negro, Cascabel, Chihuacle- all chiles used in making my chili stew, Pico de Pajaro- a sweet hot bird pepper with plum tones and less tannic than Chile de Arbol or Tabasco peppers, Tepin pods- aka Chile Petine, the closest living variety to the original ancestor to all chiles, has a dry bright flavor thats much livelier & hotter than the common cousin, Chile Piquin, Rocotillo- a close cousin to Habanero & Scotch Bonnet with less apricot & more berry tones, but much less piquant. Gift ideas abound, too. Check out the spice jars, pepper grinders, mortar & pestles/molcajetes, tortilla presses, chile-inspired serving plates/bowls, teapots, curious aprons & oven mitts, unique S & P shakers, dozens of cookbooks from cuisines around the world, hot sauces & dipping salsas, and even Christmas lights with strings of themed light covers like peppers, fish, pigs, grills, cacti, Tabasco bottles, and lots of little trinkets for the kitchen or tabletop.
