Had high hopes for this place. TotalFail!! Food was terrible. Drinks mediocre. Limited menu. Potentially great for venue and concept but 100% missed the mark. Service was top notch.

Stellar experience - top notch cocktails, warm and skilled service, pleasant modern ambiance, and most importantly great food. I'll write a longer review when we return, which we surely will, as this is one of the few high-end places in Dallas that's definitely worth the money.

I had gotten into fermenting lately and googled what was going on in Dallas. Lo & behold P&tB takes fermented foods seriously so we had to go try it. Bonus is they’re in our backyard (east Dallas). Food was phenomenal, including presentation. Service staff were exceptionally professional & caring. I was very impressed by the experience and will most definitely be back.

Absolutely delicious food, some of the best I've ever had. Very flavorful with a good balance of acidity to match the other flavors which I always appreciate. Very creative dishes and compositions on the plate. Service was incredibly thoughtful and hospitable from the server and chefs.Vegetarian options: Waiter asked about my dietary restrictions early on and let me know what food would accommodate. Those vegetarian options were delicious. They let me know that 2 of the 3 desserts had gelatin but did not realize the third did as well until I asked about it and the chef let us know. However, accommodation was made for a vegetarian dessert which was very sweet and appreciated, going above and beyond in service.

We visited for the a la carte experience and we're not disappointed. The interior is warm and welcoming with spacious and comfortable seating. Our server started us off with some cocktails and a detailed explanation of each dish and flavor profile. We started off with the Focaccia and Koji butter as well as the chefs charcuterie board. The Focaccia cam out warm and delicious it also paired well with some of the offerings.on the charcuterie board. The charcuterie was definitely the winner though. The selection was well varied including duck mousse (our favorite), some lovely spicy mustard and varied meats. We then opted for the whole tx lamb lasagnete and the smoked sweetbread and chèvre cappelleti. Both came out delicious and with flavors that were out of this world. If you've never tried sweetbread I would highly recommend it. The only warning to give would be on portion sizes. When detailing the menu our server made.it seem portions were on the smaller size. They are definitely not. We concluded we could have gotten away with just an appetizer and maybe one or two mains, that is how healthy the portion size are so come hungry!

Loved the imaginative cocktails! We so enjoyed that we could sit at the bar, hear one another clearly, and we had excellent service. We ate off the snacks menu and enjoyed the hiramasa - amazing textures. The rest of the food wasn’t my favorite taste-wise. There was a sauce of burned beet skins that was inedible - cool ideas I just didn’t want to eat it.

This is the best food in Dallas. Run, don't walk here for dinner. You won't regret it.

Fantastic place! Cool ambience and the food was absolutely delicious! Great service as well. Be sure to order the pigtail appetizer. I know the name is a bit jarring, but it's absolutely fantastic! Order it!!!!

I'll have to give our trip to Petra and the Beast in Dallas 4.5 stars rounded down to 4. Mainly because I typically take my dining partner, better half, wife's opinions into account along with mine when reviewing restaurants. She didn't care for a couple of the dishes, and the menu seemed a little limiting as far as finding things that she would really like. I am an adventurous eater and I felt that there were a couple of misses, but overall I loved the experience. We sat at the chef's counter. We enjoyed the action in the kitchen and prep stations. Charcuterie is a specialty of Petra and the Beast, but unfortunately, we don't really want to fill up on it when there are other options, so I can't comment on that part of the menu. We did get a huge hunk of Focaccia and koji butter for $15. It was great, but it would have been greater if we could have ordered a half order. The full block of bread would certainly feed a party of 4. For small plates we ordered the Pig Tails and the Golden Beets. The pig tails was one of the dishes that my wife didn't care for. Much fattier than either of us expected. I ordered it because of positive yelp reviews, but probably should have chosen something more palatable to my wife's tastes. The beets were right up her alley though. An excellent and unique version. We almost always like golden beet preparations and these were really good. On to the pastas - We got the Funghetti which was I thought was good, but again the wife didn't like the texture of some of the various mushrooms. Although I liked it, we saw some other pasta dishes come out of the kitchen that we might have liked better. We also had the shrimp and herb dumpling. Quite spicy, but possibly the overall best bite of the night. Service was efficient, maybe a little too quick. Normally we will order a cocktail, and share a bottle of wine. Service was so fast, we stuck to wines by the glass. Very interesting and enjoyable experience. I can see why they get the critical acclaim they do. If we go back again, we probably would want to go with a larger party so perhaps we could experience one of their large format dishes.

We did the chef's table, which was admittedly a bit of a risk. The courses that included meat were AMAZING! But 4 of the 6 courses were vegetarian, and very experimental, focusing on layers of smoked root vegetables and spices. Interesting flavors, but nowhere near worth the price point. I would definitely recommend sitting in the regular dining room and ordering off the regular menu.

Went to dinner on a Thursday night and everything was incredible. The pig tails were a must have and the funghetti was one of the best dishes I've ever had. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but our server Brittany was awesome and really elevated the experience. Highly recommend!
