Well, what's Texas without a little Tex-Mex?! Downtown Dallas is on the come-up, rivaling the San Francisco's and Chicago's of the world with its variety of restaurants and bars. Based on the photos on Yelp, Primo MX Kitchen looked to be a good option for a little dinner with my baby brother and mother on an early Saturday evening. Well, the menu has great potential, featuring brisket tacos, wet burritos, and homemade salsa. However, the food was a bit dry and overcooked. It seemed as though the hot dishes stayed out too long, waiting to be served, thus causing the food to be lukewarm. The fajita meat was a bit too chewy, causing me to wrestle or tear parts of the meat from my mouth with my hands. I know, no manners, but I had to. The tacos in general lacked "soul" if that makes sense. There was no "umph" in them, for they sat on my plate a little uninspired and dry. No soul, no sizzle, not much seasoning. The tortillas were a bit rubbery as well. I have high standards for Tex-Mex because I grew up on it! I refuse to let gentrification lower my standards. We all have "off" days so I hope to come back for redemption. I will say the waiters were awesome, so accommodating and knowledgeable about the entrees, especially for me, the gluten-intolerant, dairy-free, 100,000 "question-asking" foodie. Thank you to your hard-working staff.

#1: they didn't have the ingredients to make a margarita. #2: served only one bowl with salsa, to share... #3: tacos were awful, mushy meat, no flavor. #4: salsa had no flavor very bland I do not recommend.

Upon arrival the host was far from welcoming. After being forced to sit at the bar, it took the bartender 20 minutes to greet us. Appetizer came out cold and without chips because they had "a disagreement in the back of the house". Entree was served without utensils and when asked for silverware, plastic ware was given. After the subpar customer service provided we requested to speak with the manager (Jason), it's no wonder why they have such poor staff! His dismissiveness spoke volumes. Will not be returning to this restaurant or $400 a night motel (The Statler)

1 star!!! Horrible service!!!!!!!!!The bartender gave me a dirty glass of water. The bartender told me not to worry it's just Tijan from a previous customer. Not acceptable!!! Disgusting!!!

Arrived at Primos to meet my son for lunch. I brought my lunch from my job but was ready to order lunch for my son. She came out on the patio yelling you cant eat here if you're not ordering. I turned my head to continue talking and she came back out ready for war! She approached me as I was seated and started talking so disrespectful. The disrespect was so bad I had to stand up because I knew at any moment I was going to have to protect myself. Now we are standing face to face and she repeats I respect my elders, I laughed because I thought she was my elder lol!!We passed words and she said I can go get my manager and I agreed that needed to happen. She leave and return a minute later and approached me and another person and started explaining to the person I was speaking too. I then interjected and asked where is your manager: she continued on and I continued to ask where the manager was. She refused to leave the patio area. Finally Cobin the manager arrived. A week prior to this incident I went in to eat and was waiting at the front and out pops Vanessa and her words to me were oh, im off been off and then she walked off leaving me standing there for about 5 minutes. Help finally arrived. As long as Vanessa the waitress is there my business will go elsewhere. I know Covid has made things difficult for some businesses but Primos has dug to the bottom of the barrel to find Vanessa. If you want to fight, argue and then get accosted Vanessa will be the charming waitress you need to seek. The worst service I have ever had. Shout out to Cobin for deescalating. Message to the GM, you know in your heart of hearts Vanessa should not be on the front line of customer service. Vanessa needs training and I mean immediate training. Security should be onsite at all times when she's working. Vanessa is unpredictable, angry, aggressive and is very threatening in demeanor and her gold teeth and neck tattoo doesn't make it any better in fact she should be in the back washing dishes. She's not ready to serve PRIMOS. Sorry!

Came here for a Friday night for $5 bubbles and got the queso and a large bowl of chicken tortilla soup. The Prosecco was slightly colder than room temp but for $5 i can't complain. The chicken tortilla soup on the other hand was dreadful. Tasted like refried beans not chicken soup?? Super thick overall just the worst chicken tortilla soup I've ever had. I sent it back the waitress was nice about it but she wasn't super attentive, only refilled our water once over almost 2 hours and took 20 min to bring the check after we asked. Overall wasn't the absolute worst experience but there's certainly much better Mexican food in Dallas so i would go elsewhere. Stay away.

Absolutely horrible horrible service! My wife and I thought we were on an episode of "Punked". First time in my life I have never left a tip. Good food, atrocious service.

Good Tex mex restaurant in the Statler hotel. We had reservations on a Friday at 6:30 but there was no need. Everyone sat at the bar or bar tables. We were the only ones in the main dining area but it made it nice that way. Took us awhile to get anyone to wait on us because apparently someone called in or something and it was fully communicated to other staff. But we weren't in a hurry and just used that time to talk and people watch lol. Eventually we did get someone to wait on us and they were very good and attentive. Food was very good as well as the drinks. First time I've been there but the burrito with ground beef was delightful. They use a cheese or something that looks like cheese in it and was quite tasty.

*make sure you pick the right location * We made reservations at the wrong Primos, and even though these guys were slammed with an event and a holiday weekend, they worked hard to get us seated. This location is in the Statler hotel, they have valet and are convenient for walking. They were obviously incredibly understaffed but they had great attitudes and were working to get everyone served. The food was great and so were the drinks. There was a really nice ambiance and several different seating options: high tops with a street view, cozy spots in the back, a large room for private parties. We ate before a show in the ballroom and walked around the lobby while we waited. Overall a great experience.

Trash. Burger only has tomato and cheese. They said jalapeños were green chiles. What!? The smothered burrito, over priced and cold. Music, way to loud. The only thing good was the alcohol and that's only because I was finnin. Again, trash.

Really poor service. Half of our orders were wrong. One never showed up until everyone else was completely done eating. One of us got raw egg in our skillet. Would have to remind our server of drink orders that would never show up. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Love Primos Uptown. Loved it before and love it now. This new location is absolutely horrible. First we had a reservation but they "forgot" us and kept seating other people. When we asked he responded with "I wondered why we had a empty four top." When we finally sat down it got even worse. There is not enough space to write it all but in short: we got no water - I got it for the table myself, we ordered all at once to help but didn't get queso, tea and nothing, and when we asked if we should order our meals because we were trying to get to a concert after not receiving anything he responded with "well you should have ordered everything at once." Incredibly rude on top of being absolutely horrible at his job. Never going back there. I will never recommend this place to my friends and family. This place needs huge help before I'll ever step a toe in there again.

I waited in winter storm conditions for a pick up order from Primos. It was a uber eats order and yes it took quite a while, almost an hour, they were short staffed and it was frozen outside. At first I was upset but once I ate some food I came to and realized the truth about the situation. The weather caused these delays not the restaurant. When I got my food it was prepped very professionally. The only thing I said to myself was this food better be A1 or I'm leaving them an OK review for such a long wait. The food was amazing!!! Some of the best Mexican food in Dallas, not greasy, not too much sauce. Authentic, well cooked Mexican food. I will be back shortly!!! Thanks guys for your commitment to us during the storm! We owe you one!

First of all, the bartender was great. Our waiter was so overwhelmed..bless his heart. It was his third day, and they gave him our party of 18. It wasn't busy, and the other more experienced server should've handled our table. I ordered a steak salad, which came out about ten min after everyone else's. The meat came out grey and cold. I sent it back, and the food runner was very nice about it. The food came back out, but it was barely an improvement. It was hot, and I tried several to eat several pieces of meat but couldn't even chew it. My fiance got shrimp tacos, which they gave to someone else. She picked up the tacos but thankfully didn't bite them. They offered to make him a new plate after he'd already started eating. Definitely not worth the $120 we spent.
