My recent trip to The Round Up, a beloved gay country-western bar, left me feeling a mix of nostalgia and disappointment. What was once a vibrant LGBTQ+ hub steeped in country music tradition has undergone a noticeable transformation. The familiar twang of country melodies has been replaced by mainstream hits, and the once predominantly queer crowd now shares space with an influx of straight patrons.During a recent gay event, the bar's shift became even more apparent. Straight women seemed to outnumber LGBTQ+ patrons, and their behavior clashed with the inclusive atmosphere I once cherished. Instead of blending into the scene, they monopolized attention, displaying an attitude that felt out of place in a bar that was once a sanctuary for the LGBTQ+ community. As someone who holds fond memories of The Round Up, this shift in identity is disheartening. It's sad to see a space that held such significance for the LGBTQ+ community lose touch with its roots. For those seeking an authentic LGBTQ+ experience intertwined with country-western culture, the changing landscape of The Round Up may prompt a search for a new gathering place.

Talk about a party. This place is amazing. Drove from San Antonio to check out the sites and stumbled across this place and right when we walked in the VIBE was beyond what I can imagine. No stop dancing and tons of friendly faces. Let me add that there are bars right by next door and a yummy pizza place next door that is such a perk. You walk into this bar you won’t want to go anywhere else.

Bar staff were all fine, quite friendly, and welcoming. One was particularly humorous and handsome. I had a brilliant time and will tell all my friends. Go here if possible!

The most racist bar in the DFW…. They didn’t let me in just because I showed my ID from another country. When I was at the door, I told the host very politely to check my id in the back side as I do everywhere i have to use it due to my birth date isn’t in the front. He responded very rude that he doesn’t come to my job and tell me how to do my job. I explained to him that I always say that they need to check the back of my ID. I wasn’t rude and I wasn’t drunk. He said that he knows me and I always act rude to him. The thing is that it was my 3rd time at the round up saloon. How is that possible ? How he does know me if he sees hundreds of faces every single day. When I tried to talk to him again very politely and asked him to get in. He still saying that I always act rude to him (as I explained before) I don’t know him and he doesn’t know me. He just got frustrated and decided to don’t let me in just because im Mexican? I thought I was in a place where I can’t be judged but I was wrong. This was yesterday Sunday 03/03/2024 around 11pm

No longer a legend. No longer country and western.Took a person from out of state there who’d heard good things in the past.Made a couple of requests (with a $20 bill) of old Round Up standards such as Killin’ Time and Telluride. Was told they were too slow and too old by a condescending and ageist DJ.His choices had few people on the dance floor. Please go back to tradition. I’ve been going to the Round Up for over 40 years.

Had a long day and need some drinks in a great atmosphere? My go to has always been the Round-UP Saloon Dallas. The bar is timeless and echoes a comfortable spot for people of all ages, 21 and over. There are unique nightly events, they have the best drag shows on the Cedar strip and don’t forget about their famous parlor room with great karaoke. One of the reasons I frequent Round-Up are the bartenders, Greg Castillo is a great and excellent bartender! You have to come see him in action and taste his drinks. He always has a smile on his face and makes you feel welcomed. I highly recommend visiting Greg and the Round-Up Saloon Dallas.

DEI, has given this community what it asked for. Country western mockery, by DIVERSE patrons. If a crowd requires armed guards and metal detectors, don’t go in.

First of all, the atmosphere is amazing. The Bar staff is amazing and friendly. The reviews you see on line are because people don’t know about safety and or common sense. It’s THE LAW to have an ID whether or not you look of age. If you complained about not getting in because of your bag, watch and or look into LGBT shootings at Bars, get over yourself and have fun. Marcos(Floor Person) Trevor, and Mayo are AMAZING bartenders. The seasonal atmosphere is always and also welcoming. Anyways, Have fun!Parking: Paid Parking on the weekends after 8-9pm and or special event

I walked out. Sat at a bar with 14 other customers most of who had drinks. The bartender walked by me at least a dozen times. Didn't look at me or acknowledge me. After minutes I left. Apparently, the money is pouring in so much that they don't have to be attentive to their customers. Visiting from out of town. It's a crap representation of the hospitality Texans tout.
