Overpriced, overhyped, food is just OK. Having lived in Japan for 10 years, I love Japanese food, so I've given this place a try four times so far. The place has a good vibe, similar to authentic Japanese izakaya. However, overall it's disappointing.First of all, the food is way overpriced especially given the many choices available in Dallas for similar restaurants. Second this place is overhyped, hard to get table, crowded. Finally, for the price you pay, the food quality is inconsistent. Last night for example the miso cod was delicious, but the sushi rice was undercooked. Menu changes often and menu selection was very sparse this night with many items not available. There are better options available in Dallas area.

The most fake Japanese place I've ever been. I have visited Tei Tei, Tai-Ann, Uchi, Sushi Sake, Nobu.... whole place is fraud. It is a rip-off place, it is totally not in Japanese culture, I am not sure why they still in business? First of all, the menu is only one page and they claim is Yakitori restaurant but their menu only a few simple yakitori dishes and price is outrages compares to Nobu and other well known Japanese restaurant. Only one chef and one waitress serves the entire restaurant, we came in at 8 pm till 9 pm there was not a single dish being served. It is horrible ! we could not wait any more just left. I ordered a bottle sake recommended by waitress with no price tag being told in advance, when we left the bill is $200 for the sake.I feel an obligation to report this to all foodies, this is the restaurant you all should avoid.

Out of business. Don't go here okay I wish yelp had a way to annotate this, so you don't waste your time.

Sadly they have great food but are living in fear of covid and it's not at all enjoyable anymore. Charging for a mask to wear 10 feet to a table. 25% capacity, I don't see them staying open much longer

We recently did an omakase here, $250 per person, add-on sake, and its an expensive night, but definitely an experience. With it being a restricted with covid, most of the evening it was just us with 2 waitresses and the chef. We basically had a private dinner and great service across the board. It takes 2-3 hours. The night covered soup, egg yolk/bread/caviar bite, foie gras, uni, sashimi, yakitori, wagyu beef, sushi and dessert. The sushi, sashimi and wagyu beef were very good as expected, with great quality and presentation across the board. But my favorite dishes were the eggplant soup & yakitori, especially the chicken hearts (best I have had outside of Japan). The meatball was probably the most non-exciting to me. Would definitely come here again, make sure to get some cooked and some raw items.

Not sure what's with all the recent reviews, but I went on a Saturday at 8 PM had no issues whatsoever. Food was absolutely delicious, although a bit disappointed yakitori is a $30 set rather than whatever skewer you want. Service time wasn't bad at all, received everything in reasonable time. Did not feel like it was exceptionally slow, and was out of there within an hour and a half or so, which felt reasonable with what we ordered.Taste was amazing, although prices are high for the quantity you get. Yakitori alone will not fill you up, but I got a Yakitori set ($30) + Wagyu Fried Rice ($40) and was full afterwards. The fried rice is easily one of the best I've ever had.I plan on returning next time I get the chance.

The most fake Japanese place I've ever been. The whole place is fraud. None of nigiri and sashimi is within Japanese standard, and yakitori they serve is not remotely resembles what people eat in Japan. I almost throw up ingesting the chicken heart yakitori. This place is not only disgusting but also in violation of many county food regulations. We should all report this place.

Went downhill. Terrible management. Non Japanese service. If you want to order yakitori, it's a set ($30) for each person at table even if the others don't want to eat yakitori. I think the owner/chef just wants to call it quits.

The atmosphere was great. The sushi was very good. The servers were good. It took so long to get food. There was only one chef, and while seating was limited, he could not handle all the tables by himself. For the prices we paid, the restaurant needs to staff up accordingly. We will not be repeat customers, which is a bummer, but I will not risk having to pay this amount of money and be disappointed again.

Good food but very pricy, sushi prices are per piece (my fault to assume 2 pieces per order as in most sushi restaurants), for example scallop sashimi in the photo costs $48, thin slices. Scallop sushi is $12 per. Great but nothing special. Yakitori set is $30 which gives you 6 skewers, chef’s choice, but everyone at the table has to order a set. Chicken thigh Yakitori (Momo) is under cooked in the middle, when I asked we were told it’s usually served medium, I mean it’s probably just a lack of knowledge on my part but I’ve never had chicken yakitori served less than fully cooked even in Japan, unless it specifically says Chicken Sashimi. The other skewers are fine.Spent $330 for 2. didn’t have time to order dessert. We were not full at all and went across the street for more food. The service and atmosphere were excellent. We won’t be going back.

Disappointed. Went for a celebration but this was not a good dining experience. Overpriced and dinner took 2 hours to complete since there is only one chef. Restaurant was practically empty on a Friday night but it still took that long. Food was okay (reason for 2 stars or else I’d leave 1) but not worth the bill we paid. We will not be going back. So many other great dining experiences available in DFW area now that offer great food and better service.

Food is good but absolutely not worth the experience we had. So overpriced! As mentioned in previous reviews, dinner will take over 2 hours and restaurant is not even at full capacity due to COVID restrictions which I can appreciate. Other great dining options in DFW. Will not be back.

Bad enough that we had to stand outside in the cold for ten minutes because we arrived at 6:50 for a 7 o'clock reservation. They had the doors locked!! After dropping almost 500.00 for what amounted to less than appetizers for a party of 5. They only had a limited number of soups and desserts. After tasting the soup we wanted another bowl and the answer is we already sold out. There were only 15 people in the place. My suggestion go somewhere else it isn't worth it. Not even close went home and grilled some steaks.

By far the best yakitori I have ever had. This beat the yakitori that I ate in Tokyo! Teppo is currently operating at 25% capacity & reservations must be made online in advance! We ordered some nigiri, Chef's Yakitori selection + another round of more skewers because everything was just THAT good. Sushi was fresh and great quality but I recommend sticking to the yakitori, the true highlight of the meal. There was only one chef but he truly took his time to cook and perfect every dish that came out. Each skewer came one at a time so every bite was hot and fresh. However, since there is only one chef, waiting time was super long. Our dinner ended up being 2 1/2 hours long - the longest dinner we've ever had. But the food was 10/10 so should I even be complaining? Overall, get ready to talk all night with whoever you choose to come with while you wait for food & just enjoy the ride!

A fantastic Japanese experience with a twist. Expect a 2 hours culinary affair. Very good service. The Yakitori is unparalleled this side of Japan.
