Walter's Kitchen Restaurant & Bar

On a Saturday run to Dallas we stopped in at Walter’s Kitchen. Granted we walked in a few minutes after opening, mopping was happening, server had called off, but we thought why not. We should have walked back out and tried another day. The order brought was not even the same food we had ordered, and honestly what we had ordered and brought correctly was just not good. I always try to find a positive, and not a complete nag on a new place that just did not go well…I just cannot give anything positive. So with zero checking in, wrong food, the cherry on top was the nice upcharge put on each menu item for using credit card instead of cash. When I mentioned this difference, I was told they need to put it on the menu. So crappy service, crappier food and we were charged extra to not enjoy it. I in no way want to hurt anyone’s business. If you enjoy this place, good for you. We are still eating antacids and we did not eat much.

The food here is amazing with a wide selection of options. The menu has savory, Mexican and Asian food offered. It all was really good! The service and atmosphere is laid back and a little outdated. Unless you are looking for a fancy place, give it a try.

My mom bought our food and got to meet Walter. She ate in-restaurant and brought me food to-go. We love his story, and we love his food!! I got the Salisbury steak with green beans, mac&cheese, and fried pickles. Every bit of it was so delicious!

Did not like the fact that if you change gratuity you should have it on your menu so a person can decide if they want to pay it not force a 20 percent charge at checkout

Pretty good place for a hotel scene. Not the quieter place. Sat next to that guy who doesn't know headphones exist and playing his jiu-jitsu YouTube channel at max volume. Had to deal with Fox News propaganda on two big screens. The drinks are poured pretty light and a double comes in a singles glass. Had the pot roast and it was really good.

How you gonna upcharge a gratuity fee on my receipt for a damn to go order. Then they charge an additional $3 if you want fried rice instead of steamed and don’t even let you know. No soy sauce in the bag either. Food is good but stuff like that leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Last time getting this place.

Came across Walter’s after landing in Dallas from Chicago. The breakfast and coffee here are amazing! Met Walter himself and he is the nicest man who is super passionate about his restaurant and the customers.

I am not coming back after the treatment I got today which is sad because their food are good. The waitress and the waiter are nice. The manager however need improvement on customer service!
I always order their chicken fried steak with corn and carrots. Today the chicken fried steak was awful!!! I had maybe five bites but no more than that, it was not half the steak! The manager never came to talk to me but sent the waitress instead. Pretty cowardly of the manager! What really upset me the most was they did not bother to give me discount. The manager consider more than 2 or 3 bites is half the steak so I do not get discount.
I am so sorry that the waitress had to put up with me and saw how upset I got but the manager should do his job to deal with me not hide and uses his employees to do his job.
