the food is good, just the portions are smaller than I expected. The drinks are good. I recommend the Ayahuasca and the Pulque.Parking: It was difficult to find a parking spot close to the restaurant.

We went to the speakeasy style restaurant at the back of this cafe. It aims high with a really unique concept and an ambitious menu. However the execution was uneven. The flautas filled with hibiscus were light and just eh right level of acidity to accompany delicious cocktails. However both the pork lomo and the octopus were chewy and overcooked. They brought out incense halfway through our meal at which point the smell was so overpowering that I couldn’t taste my food anymore. The bar is unbelievably well stocked with unique mezcal, tequila and other spirits from all over Mexico. The staff were all really friendly and attentive.

Popped into the bar/speakeasy in the back for brunch. It was awesome. Can’t wait to come back for dinner.

Different, cool vive. Food is not so great and overpriced. Churros had a nice crisp but not cooked from the middle.

Stopped here for some coffee. Tried a specialty coffee, it was too sweet for me. They offered to get us latte instead and it was perfect. The kitchen was closed but would love to return and try the food. Service ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The creativity with all of the food items and drink are just amazing! Everything taste SOO good. It's hidden behind a coffee shop and vibes are awesome, and it smells so good! They burn palo Santo yum. Great service too!

I didn't try the food as I happened to stumble upon this place on my way to another bar but I'm so glad I decided to stop and check it out! These cocktails are like nothing I've ever had before, unique, mouthwatering, perfectly balanced drinks. The ambiance alone is enough to make me want to come back. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly and super attentive.

Inexperienced and uninformed servers. Server admitted to not knowing anything about Mexican food. Small portions, clear coffee and high prices. I don’t mind small portions if there is high quality, but this was not. People get excited about what they don’t know: there is nothing “authentic” about this Mexican food, the menu is very simple and the options were even more limited because we were informed that they had run out of the pork. We were told we could not change our order(even though it was almost right away). Bill was not itemized. There was no dairy milk for the latte. Head to The Bishops arts District for better choices and quality! We came because of the reviews. I don’t know who is writing these but the Chef needs to train his staff so that they know what they are doing. It was comical.Added to the decor was the pile of dirty tablecloths near the back door! I guess that’s what they call “ambiance”.

Service was great, however, server did not know much about mexican food... he was from Honduras. We changed our mind on the menu item almost immediately and we told the waiter, he said we could not make changes. Everyone was friendly, but no one seemed to be in charge. Ambiance: trendy...we were drawn to the great reviews of Ayahuasca restaurant, xaman only has breakfast/lunch items. We ate in the back where Ayahuasca serves dinner. There was a pile of dirty tablecloths at one corner. The bathroom was not very clean and the wastebasket overflowing with dirty paper towels. Food: the "birria" torta, while good as a French dip sandwich, is not authentic ice cream birria: not traditional goat or lamb but meat was good. Not worth 17$ The chilaquiles were devastatingly disappointing: more like a meager, dry nachos with an overcooked egg. The chef needs to visit other restaurants to see the presentation! The cafe de olla is served in a jicara--gourd. It was not good. I wonder how well a gourd can be washed! My husband ordered a latte: the waiter asked if we could substitute the milk(what is a Latte?)... it supposedly had two shots of espresso. The waiter then said he found the milk. I think he forgot the espresso shots. The churros were doughy inside, served with a cold chocolate atole. We did not complain because it was obvious that no one was supervising this group. The total for a dissatisfying breakfast for two was $67(plus tip).

Delicious chilaquiles verdes, coffee, croissant French toast, hot chocolate (in the cutest cups), and churros!! All while listening to great cumbias. We loved it!

Yesterday I had my birthday dinner at Ayahuasca Cantina, the speakeasy located at the back of the cafe. The food, drinks, and service were amazing! And the vibes were immaculate. Ordered the Nahuatl-rita (a clarified margarita with a sweet foam on top that was super citrusy and refreshing) and Ayahuasca (a mezcal and pineapple cocktail that was also great). For dinner we split the flautas, chicharrones, caldo, mole pork, and cochinita pibil. All were delicious! And the tortillas were some of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures since it was very dark inside the restaurant. But definitely going to come back to try more drinks and bites!
