Great place. You might think not because of the area. For me though. Some of the best sushi ? I have had in the Dallas area. And I’ve eaten a lot of sushi all over the metroplex. Go here. It’s not huge, very intimate, great date place. Even have kids games if they are old enough to chill. Quiet place. It’s a GEM that is are to find and I hope you do.

Discrimination!!!!Okay so I’m finishing up my traveling in Dallas and I came from the nail shop to the nearest sushi place which was this Yama location. When I walked in I automatically noticed it was the same location the customer service was bad at so I came again and I notched the demeanor of the waitress who was rude to me the first time. So this last time I came I was given a different waitress but still RUDE so I’m on FaceTime with a friend and the waiter comes up harassing me about a TIP and saying I didn’t tip her enough mind you I only had one plate and the waiter took forever so I left a small tip. So the waiter is literally yelling at me in the restaurant over a tip….well now the video is on TikTok and this isn’t a race issue although I feel me being the only black played a part, that isn’t my argument it’s the unprofessionalism. I’ll update this review soon, I recorded everything

Just had an amazing dining experience at Yama Sushi! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the elegant yet cozy ambiance of the restaurant. The staff was welcoming and attentive, ensuring a delightful dining experience from start to finish. The menu offered a wide variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese specialties. I opted for the chef's special omakase, and it was a culinary adventure! Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh flavors. From the melt-in-your-mouth sashimi to the perfectly seasoned sushi rolls, every bite was a delight. The quality of the ingredients was exceptional, and the attention to detail in each dish was evident. The service was impeccable, with the chef taking the time to explain each course and make personalized recommendations. Overall, Yama Sushi exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal!

Im a bit biased on this place since I've been going there since 2017. But the food is amaaazing, I've never had a bad experience with a waiter/waitress. They sometimes have pretty long wait times to get a table but it is flipping worth it. Every time we have brought friends/family that's never tried Yama they wished we had brought them sooner. My absolute favorite meal is Buta-Kakuni and it even says in the description on their menu"Mouth-melting Sweetly Cooked Pork Belly"Let me tell you it is TRUE!!! It's a constant reorder every time we go, and we have a tradition for when a new person is with us. We each get a piece and share but the newbie gets the broth. If you haven't gone you're missing out.Parking: So if it's busy, parking is a bit of a challenge and finding a spot is hard. But when its slow, it's super easy.Kid-friendliness: For the most part it is kid friendly but I have seen a kid accidentally make a mess and the parent and the child left briefly to clean up. But the workers cleaned their table and replaced the bowl of im assuming soup. So when they came back the ordeal was like it didn't happen. Soooo nice.Wheelchair accessibility: There are no stairs and it's just hardwood, the tables are at perfect sitting height. Super easy to get in.

I've been coming here for years and it's time this place gets a review! It's always an incredible experience. The atmosphere is quaint and upon walking in you know it will be an intimate experience. Tonight we sat at the sushi bar and asked the chef to make us 2 of his "special" rolls that weren't in the menu. We were not disappointed. Although we didn't get the name of it, I'm sure it couldn't be recreated on the fly like we ordered it. Fresh ingredients, hot sake and close quarter seating makes you feel at comfortable, yet far from home. We will be back!

I’ve been going to this restaurant for years with no complaints, but recently the service here has been horrific. I’ve literally seen servers keep my friend’s change because they thought they weren’t going to be tipped. The food is good for the price, but the waiters make the experience here absolutely awful.

It freaking sucked! I ordered the Spicy Yama Ramen. You’d think it being from a big city it would be good. Save your money. It was terrible in my opinion. Never again. Another issue I had is they couldn’t even put the ramen in a black meal prep bowl instead they literally put it in a plastic to go plate. If you want real ramen go to Mikoto Ramen Bar in Corpus Christi, Texas. You’ll thank my recommendation.

Came from Los Angeles and visited this place. I absolutely hate it, the waiter was horrible. I watched the waiter check on every table but mine. I was seated at the bar while other single parties were seated at a table. I will never come back here and it was so unpleasant to say the least. The entire service of this place was so dissatisfying

Moved away for a bit but I’ve always missed my Yama! Been coming here for years and I still love it, I have had so many great experiences here. And my friends and family love it as well. My favs are the grilled squid, chicken karaage, seafood creamy udon, and tempura udon. Hope you guys enjoy just as much as I do!Parking: There’s a be next-door that seems popular so parking might be an issue at night

I rated this place a 5 star 5 years ago. I was there 2 weeks ago and it was a disappointment. The sushi was so poorly cut, the quality of fish was sub standard. I ordered the red snapper sushi and what I got tasted like tilapia, and it was so chewy. The rice had no taste. If the food quality remains this way, I will not go back. The rest of the review below was from 5 years ago.Wonderful Japanese restaurant. Quaint little place, plain and simple decor with really, I mean, really good food. Choice of fish for sushi are not limited but not as wide as other bigger restaurants but they are fresh and of good quality.Ramen here is delicious, kutsu curry over rice, agedashi tofu, grilled livers and gizzards are my favorites.Sushi chef are awesome. The cut of sushi and sashimi are generous ... I say larger than average. It's very satisfying to sink your teeth into a piece of sushi here. The wait staff are friendly and helpful.Highly recommended.
