Whistle Stop Cafe Reviews
Chicken Fried Steak, as good as it gets.
Went there for the first time because folks raved about it. I can't rave. The vegetables were unseasoned and from a can. The chicken fried steak was tough and overdone. The fried okra was also overdone. The gravy was clotted. If I got the last servings of the old food before more was made, they should not have charged for it. Very disappointing.

The Whistle Stop Cafe is a charming, historic restaurant that offers delightful dining experiences. The building, built in 1929, is quaint and small, giving it a nostalgic feel reminiscent of old-time cafes. The menu features tasty options like the shrimp basket and excellent mushroom burger, along with dishes such as the sausage on the biscuits and gravy and the meat lover breakfast burrito, which is packed with bacon, ham, sausage, cheese, egg, onion, and green peppers. Visitors enjoy prompt, friendly service from a fun wait staff. The cafe's location next to an old motor court where Bonnie and Clyde stayed, as well as a petrified wood-covered gas station, adds to its unique charm. The quaint setting and Texas hospitality create a memorable experience, though the place is small and can get crowded, sometimes leading to sharing tables or waiting in cars for a spot. Wheelchair accessibility is available with a front door ramp. Overall, it’s well worth a visit for a cozy, nostalgic meal.
