First of all Benny’s is expensive. Compared to most breakfast places in Del Rio, we’ve spent the most there in one hit. Also, I saw the server grabbing my piece of toast with her hand. That’s after touching menus, handling money and helping other clients. I also noticed the owner using her bare hands to grab raw bacon. I didn’t see them washing their hands. I know that probably happens at other restaurants too, but if you have an open kitchen, you can at least practice proper hygiene. The food is meh and the service could barely speak English. I sensed a lot of tension in the kitchen. I wouldn’t spend another dime at that restaurant.

I found this place on google, my family and I were visiting del Rio and thought we would try something local instead of your regular ihop etc. We walk in and are not greeted by anyone, not a big deal, we proceed to find an empty booth and sit. We wait for about 15 minutes before our server comes and takes our order. We figured it’s a small diner so they take a little longer for the service, again no big deal. We get our food. We notice an older gentleman is walking and checking in on all the tables and asking them how’s everything tasting and if they need anything. He’s approaching our table and just looks at us and proceeds to the next table and ask them how’s everything tasting and if they need anything. My wife and I look at each other and thought that was kinda weird, why did he skip us over. We just laugh about it and continue to eat. We noticed a family walk in and are immediately approached and greeted, then they proceed to walk them over to their seats and take their order right away. Again my wife and I stare at each other and kinda are questioning things at this point. We noticed a lady was sitting at the bar top, we thought she was a customer as she wasn’t wearing any uniform or anything. This same lady saw us walk in and sit down and saw us look around waiting for our server or anyone to come assists us, she never said a word to us the entire time. Turns out she is an employee of the restaurant, she quickly checked up on the family that walked in after us and apologized to them for any delays in service and explained that she will try to get their food as fast as possible. I don’t want to play the race card but the common denominator here was that the other customers were white and my wife, daughter and myself are Mexicans. I find it hard to believe because all of the employees were Mexicans. I have never written a review In my life, I have had bad service at other places and I just brush it off and never return but for them to make not only my self but my family feel discriminated? Yeah I had to write a review. I really do hope this was just a one off incident and they are truly not racist against their own kind. Anyone visiting this place, be warned. If you’re anything but white you’re service might be subpar

The owner is rude , they over charge you , prices are different from the menu when u go pay ! Not that good to come back 🥴 the back it's dirty and the owner was scratching her butt and couldn't even wash her hands . Smh

We just finished eating here on Christmas Eve. The food was good and the waitress was nice. However we found two or three pieces of what appears to be a piece of laminate counter top or ceramic in our beans. We understand that things happen and just wanted to bring it up to the owner. When we brought it up she was just surly and didn’t think it was an issue. She also rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders. If I was an owner of a food establishment I’d try to find the source of contamination to fix for future customers. We also found a cockroach near the children’s toys. Don’t eat here unless you want to eat chips of foreign substances with cockroaches. We won’t be back based on how the situation was handled by the owner. I’m disappointed on behalf of my community that needs solid downtown businesses.

Benny's Cafe- DEL Rio TX is a cozy, old-style restaurant with its large, long bar with its swivel chairs, its kitchen visible to everyone, its breakfast is fresh, made in your face, the attention we received was Enthusiastic and efficient, the Huevos Rancheros with their chicharrones and gisado are very delicious, the atmosphere is familiar, there is a good atmosphere, we will return!

I have no idea what the food or anything is like. I'm an Expedite truck driver and I delivered a load in Del Rio. I was hungry and found this place on Google Maps. I liked the reviews. I drove to the restaurant to find out they only take cash. There's nothing on their Google page saying that. I never would have driven there had I known. I'm a woman alone on the road and don't carry cash on me for safety reasons.
We ate breakfast at this charming little diner. The best part was seeing owners daughter come in, gave her mom a huge hug good morning- went straight to work. I LOVE family owned companies, you can truly see the dedication they put into their place. The food is made in front of you and it is delicious! My husband and I enjoyed Bennys so much!
