Me and my boyfriend had our third date tonight and we chose El Tapatio in Denison, Tx. This was my first time visiting the restaurant myself. We were greeted and sat immediately. I was surprised though that there was no music of any kind playing in the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us frequently. The chips, salsa, and questions Blanco dip were all superb. I was however highly disappointed in my soft shredded chicken taco. The chicken had not been properly drained and my soft was super soggy and just fell apart on me. The shredded chicken soup with avocado pieces was totally amazing. For dessert my boyfriend and I ordered a piece of regular cheesecake to share. The presentation was breathtaking, although the cheesecake itself was still frozen and incredibly unenjoyable.

The food is very delicious, the atmosphere is very good, the music matches the atmosphere, the service is excellent, the waiter was very attentive and friendly. The margarita I ordered was very well prepared and all the other servers were very friendly. I highly recommend it for a day out as a couple or even with the whole family as the prices are very reasonable and the portions are quite good. The only observation and it makes me proud is that we were the only Hispanics and our Anglo friends were enjoying themselves at the bar and the neighboring tables were full of them enjoying the Hispanic delicacies. Food tasted AMAZING! Service was horrible, not just our waitress but walking in there was a line of people checking out with no one up front. Then finally someone comes and starts checking people out while a bunch of us were trying to get a table. It was chaos. Finally we we are able to speak to the guy at the front who said 10 minute wait. We ended up waiting 20 minutes and 3 parties behind us were seated before us. The waitress was there intermittently. She dropped off our drinks and asked if we were ready to order and we all said yes and right when we were about to order she walked away and to the kitchen. We thought well maybe she left her pad back there but would have been nice for her to say somthing then she comes out and proceeds to serve 2 other tables and clean a third.... Then came and took our order... Our cups went dry and our salsa went dry...

We love this place! We've yet to find something on the menu that we didn't like, and while the service is ALWAYS excellent, Ray is our favorite server; he's always quick and friendly! I recommend the Chicken Tortilla Soup and the Chilquiles!
The Guacamole Mexicana it's fresh. I like how they have the combination plates there is always finding something I like. They have a spicy salsa if you need more
