Didn't take the tour but stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon. Josh was very friendly and informative. The whiskey tasting was great and I walked out with two bottles and a glencairn.
Incredible tour. Very in depth and informative on every step in the process. Will highly recommend this for any Texas Bourbon Trail or weekend trip in the area.

We went for the tour. What a fun and educational experience! The family of owners are very friendly and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend visiting to anyone who wants to try fine spirits, and learn more about distilling. Lovely time well spent. Will return.
The ironroot Promethean is absolutely wonderful. Blast of Carmel to the nose with a beautiful smokey palate and a smooth finish with very little heat. Highly recommend
Looking for a fun way to spend the afternoon, I set out on a whiskey adventure—and it did not disappoint. They treated me to a personal tasting, each pour paired with a story that made every sip even better. Hands down, the best sampling experience I’ve ever had, with top-tier service to match. Do yourself a favor—support this spot and taste the magic for yourself.
Wow!!! I have been to several distillery tours in Texas but the was the best by far. The presentation was so informative, would be great for someone just starting their journey into whiskey.
The tour was led by the mom and one of founding sons. They are so passionate about whiskey and it really shows in their products. My wife and I sampled seven varieties of their spirits during the tour. To my surprise I like everything that I tried. I was planning on buying two bottles that were my favorite during the tasting but my plan did not go that well. We ended up buying four bottles, I hope we made the right choice. I left without buying many that I really enjoyed. I look forward to coming to Ironroot again!!!
A wonderful and robust distillery located in Denison, TX. This is the first distillery I’ve visited that has the exceptional distinction of scoring a perfect 100% in the realm of enjoying all the various whiskies they produce. It’s clear they take great care and instill great love into the spirits they make. I deeply lament I cannot find this in my home state, but I’ll always stock up when I’m back in TX. If you’re an enthusiast and you’ve not visited, you’re doing yourself a woeful disservice.
I had sampled some of the Ironroot Republic spirits at my local Total Wine store in Plano. The representative there was so informative, and the products so compelling, my wife and I decided to indulge in one of the tours and tastings Ironroot offers on the weekend. That turned out to be a really good decision. The tours are conducted by members of the family that own and operate the distillery; they have a fascinating story to tell, and they are excellent in their presentation. Our 90 minute tour lasted about 2 hours, and the time flew by. Along the way we tasted, perhaps, 10 of their offerings. Most were part of the official tasting, and a couple were sort of the denouement, conducted in the lobby. The family treats you so well, and they also serve as terrific ambassadors for their entire community. We'll probably do it again at some point and take some friends along next time. And, needless to say, some product made it's way back to Plano with my wife and me.
We attended the distillery tour and had a wonderful time. This is a fantastic family-owned business that makes wonderful whiskey, which I have been happily buying for several years. If you are going to be in the area on a Saturday, I highly recommend stopping by for a visit!
If you are anywhere nearby, this is a great way to spend part of your Saturday afternoon. We drove over an hour and it was absolutely worth it. Our server at Rick’s Chophouse in McKinney was raving about Ironroot and recommended the tour. It was very informative. Loved hearing the Texas history and the fun way it was all presented. This small family has passion about what they do. But they don’t keep it all to themselves. They share and educate and give back to the community.

Spent over an hour walking around, tasting delicious whiskey, and having a great conversation with the staff. One of the best distilleries I’ve ever been to. 10/10.
Great Distillery, staff was very friendly and helpful.
We went for a birthday whisky tasting, and the entire team made it very special. Marsha led the tasting class with an abundance of knowledge and passion in the craft, walking us through the entire process from grain to bottle. The tasting session was an absolute surprise in the flavor profiles. I had never broken whisky down into its taste profiles like we do wine, and we really enjoyed it. The promithian was our favorite. Make sure you grab some glasses for momento, too. They also had a gin and vodka in the works, which was an absolute treat for us! The bloddy Mary was the best in town hands down!. We will definitely be heading back soon. Cheers!
I have toured two other whiskey distilleries in Texas this year, and this was by far the best and most informative tour. The owners are so down-to-earth, likable, and knowledgeable. The whiskey is something else - and they've got the awards to show it.
Love the fact was all family running tour together. Great tour and tasting. Great individuals. Can show up bit early for tour to shop and conversation but no food or bar per day. A most try if in the area.
