I wish you would relocate to a nicer location to complement your food. Never had any TexMex better than Kent’s Tex Mex or as I like to call it Garcia’s:)

I am beyond distraught with what just happened to me & my Service Animal, Lola, at Kent’s Tex-Mex in Denison this afternoon. There are federal laws that protect service animals. It’s one thing to not know these laws, it’s another to not care whatsoever to make an attempt to educate oneself on the Rights & Responsibilities involved with Service Animals moving forward. It’s fair to say most people aren’t versed in knowing what the law dictates as allowed and what’s illegal. It’s also likely fair to say a large majority of establishments are not familiar enough with this law to know there are ONLY two very specific questions legally allowed when inquiring about an animal in ANY establishment. The fact that you are a “small & privately owned business with an owner that doesn’t allow dogs in his establishment” and “most people have no problem providing paperwork & documentation, proving the legitimacy of their animal” doesn’t hold water and mean Anything when it comes to the TWO LEGAL QUESTIONS patrons can be asked when handling an animal. Those questions do not involve asking if it’s an emotional support animal (note ESA’s hold different Rights & Responsibilities and aren’t legally protected like service animals), asking for paperwork or documentation, telling patrons dogs are not allowed (with the rare legitimate exception of a high-risk situation in a medical establishment or kitchen with food preparation). It is OK most don’t know this. But when refusing to make any attempt at creating understanding of why it’s illegal and the implications that can and will come from it, creates illegal offenses punishable by fines; settlements, and even criminal charges. I tried explaining this a number of times to Lily & Evelyn. They just repeatedly kept saying, former patrons never had a problem showing identification for their animals. While I had identification on Lola, they’re not allowed to ask for that and I wanted them to understand it.
I encourage them to take one minute on their cell phones and look up the law. You can simply Google: “what questions can you ask patrons with an animal in your establishment?” They could have cared less about learning anything new and certainly didn’t mind violating the law.
Making this unfortunate situation worse, I explained to the manager the group that was congregating in the back room was for my best friend’s mother that passed away the day prior. I drove up to Texoma the day before to help my friend make preparations at the funeral home. The purpose of our meeting was to review the obituary and make final selections for the slideshow pictures. I spent most the night writing the obituary and was incredibly sad I was not able to share it with those there to support my dear friend, Toni.
Our Federal Rights governed by the laws written by the Office of Civil Rights were violated today at Kent’s Tex-Mex. This not OK It’s not acceptable at all. It’s Wrong, it’s Rude and it’s Against the Law. My hope when all this unfolds is the Owner will take the opportunity to educate himself and his staff on this important matter so it doesn’t happen again and hurt someone like this hurt me today.

If you’re ever in Denison, you have to stop by Kent’s Tex-Mex — it’s our absolute favorite local spot! The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is always great, and the food… incredible. 🤤

The Ranchero Steak is hands-down my go-to — perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with flavor. Everything on the menu tastes fresh and made with care.

Whether you’re local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and grab a meal at Kent’s. You won’t regret it! 🌮🥩🌯

Wouldn’t honor my mother’s birthday dinner and give dessert as they give everyone else. We drove in from McKinney and this USED to be my mom’s favorite place. Server could have gotten a fat tip but instead she got $0. Hope that was worth it! 😂Also- your bathrooms are yucky- do better! La Mesa in Sherman has better food, lovely staff and better queso! The staff here was awful. Awful. Awful.
