I’ve been going to Hillmans since I was a little girl. What I remember most was the fresh whole fish on ice and the candy bars. 😬 In this day and age ease, convenience and simplicity is a must. I had a HEB pickup order where I could have easily added shrimp to the cart and had everything I needed in one stop. I always try to support local if I can, and today’s experience with Hillmans reminds me why I do that. I did not know that I needed to keep shrimp on ice even if it was immediately placed in the fridge. Today when I brought dinner to cook at my dad’s it was said the shrimp had a potent smell. I looked at the clock and it was 5:35 and I knew they had closed at 5:30. I called and thankfully someone answered. I explained the issue and when asked if I had them on ice, I was truthful and said no (because I did not know) but they were always kept in the fridge (it had been about 24 hours). Escalating the story, they allowed me to bring them back for them to check (even when they were closed),and agreed they were bad (because I made the mistake- not them!!!) and they gave me fresh shrimp. I did feel bad about it but I was fortunate they took care of me. I will never not go to Hillmans. They run a hard working family business and I will always purchase my seafood from them. Thank you Hillmans for serving our community for decades and counting.

Went there to get boudain. They had what we needed to make what we wanted for supper, and it was delicious.

Updated review-just as friendly and helpful as you would expect fresh seafood house staff to be. Maybe i was having a bad day my first visit a month ago or maybe they were or maybe we all were but yesterday changed my opinion and i like this place a lot.

Great little fresh seafood stop! We came in for a pound of their fresh gulf shrimp and some of their delicious jalapeño hushpuppies and were not disappointed at all. They’ve also got cold drinks, crab boil and also had fresh blue crabs when we visited. Other stores definitely have a bigger selection but it’s a nice little stop for fresh shrimp or bait in Dickinson.

I sold a house down the street from Hillmans recently, and that is how I discovered this place. What a treasure! We got shrimp, large and such a great price, and they’re jalapeño hush puppies! Amazing, amazing, amazing!
