Marais was wonderful! My CuzzoBestieSisteriend was in town from California. I wanted to try a new spot and have some bestie time! I selected the perfect spot!! MARAIS!!! Walking up to the venue, jazz music was playing. This put me in my happy zone immediately!! It set the mood right out the gate. We were seated with no wait. We made a reservation. Nick was our server. He was very personable. Top notch table maintenance and follow-up! Now, let's talk about the delicious food! We had the $40 brunch buffet. We felt it was as worth it! I tried the following: gumbo, bacon, sausage, hash potatoes, chicken & waffles, fried fish, greens, smoked salmon, boiled shrimp, grits..,,whewwww! I didn't get to enjoy the omelet station or the carving station. More reason to return...AND WE WILL! We washed it down with mimosas with OJ and PJ! Tasty tasty. We couldn't believe a full bottle of was only $10. I was expecting a champagne split not bottle! There is a bar area right off of the buffet lines. The bar has swings!! Like “when you were a kid” swings!! Also, there is patio seating too! Live jazz music was playing the entire time we were there! Again, another reason to return!! Great experience all the way around! I can't wait to return!! Thank you Maya for recommending trying Marais!! Great choice!!
This place has a surprisingly charming and quirky bar area and a French Quarter Elegant interior vibe. The back porch is also pleasant. The interior dining area would be great for a romantic date night. When the sun goes down the romantic restaurant lighting kicks in. It sits on a little section of bayou for a touch of water out back. You would never expect to find a place of this caliber in Dickinson. Well done Marais!
Doug (the GM) did a fantastic job for a gentleman who was turning 81! Because of the kind gesture, I am certain Marais has a new customer, for life!
The food was fabulous, service was great and the price is not too outrageous. We will go again.
This is the absolute best restaurant in Galveston County. Service is great, food is outstanding and it is owned by locals. We save it for special occasions. Raymond & Gladys Haak
There was a 40 th high school reunion going on and it had to be brought inside the main restaurant due to impending bad weather, which made it a bit chaotic, but they did their best to give us a peaceful place away from all that chaos!
I have been taking my sister to Marais for several years now to celebrate her birthday. We have also been to several Sunday Brunches at Marais. Overall, it has always been a pleasurable experience, however our last visit was a little lack luster in terms of service and pricing. I do realize however that they were extremely busy due to a large party going on, and students celebrating Homecoming which could account for the lack luster service. I have always ordered the shrimp and grits (yummy) and added scallops. Now according to the menu, you can add scallops to your meal for an additional $12.00. I have done this several times in the past, and I have always been happy to pay the additional upcharge because the dish was so good. Yet when the waiter brought us the bill I noticed had been charged $24.00 dollars for adding two scallops. I questioned the waiter because this had never happened before. I had always been charged the $24.00 for the meal, and then an upcharge of $12.00 for adding the scallops. The server then told me that each scallop cost $12.00 which is why there was an additional $24.00 charge. Needless to say, I was quite surprised. I explained that had I known that adding scallops would incur a $12.00 charge per scallop I would never have added them to my order. The server told me the menu could be difficult to understand??? Needless to say, I will probably never return to Marais to dine due to this issue. There is no way that I would ever again want to pay $48.00 for a plate of shrimp and grits (with added scallops) when the dish I received had 5 shrimp and two scallops. I am not sure if the server was new and didn't understand the policy for adding additional items, or if the wording on the menu has been changed.
The food was amazing! We got the Bacon Candy to start, then the Bourbon Street Redfish and Alfredeaux the Dark. Top 2 meal of the year for us! Fantastic service and stellar food! Plus, the venue is terrific. Will definitely return soon!
Excellent meal and service overall. Food was delicious. Atmosphere is a bit loud, probably not the place for an intimate dinner but a great experience.
We were celebrating a birthday and Marais never fails to make the celebration a successful one. The food was great, Elk chops were outstanding, service was wonderful and drinks were so good. I would recommend this place for any celebration or just if you want a great meal.

Great restaurant and great server Savanna. Only issue I had was not splitting our meal when we told them we were going to share. I really appreciate when restaurants do this. Had to ask for extra plate for both salad and main course. Also, our appetizer, the fish dip, was wonderful but we had crumbs for crackers, only 3 whole ones.
Came for the Sunday brunch. Ordered off the menu instead of the buffet. Great service and great food!
Its expensive but its really really good. Oh and dress nice, I was in a collard shirt and pants and was underdressed bad.
