Hays City Store & Ice House

Hays City Store is our family's favorite place to take friends and family, or to pick up food to eat at home. Friendly staff, great food and drinks. Great local place!

Hosted our Company party at Hays City Store. The staff was beyond amazing! The food was delicious and we all enjoyed our time very much! Thank y’all for being so welcoming and creating a wonderful experience for us! I can’t wait to go back!

Loved this place! They have lots of gluten free options including a gluten free bun for their burgers and sandwiches. I got your bacon jam burger and it was yum!! They had live music when we came for dinner.

Talked to Alex the GM, super cool guy. The waiter, Daniel was awesome! He was very knowledgeable on all the food. We got the pork chops, and I was honestly blown away. We've been to steakhouses and a lot of other places in the area. But these pork chops were so freaking tender and juicy. Genuinely I was not expecting them to be this good. We got the Mac and the jalapeno corn, both were amazing. We will definitely be coming back here!

Came here for lunch. Server was great! We sat inside at a table- may sound silly but chairs were really comfortable. We both had chicken fried steak which wàs very good - he had jalapeno gravy and said it was fantastic. His side dish was charo beans and said they were also really good. I had onion rings that were delicious. Highly recommend this spot.

Had never heard of this place until some friends wanted to meet us out there. I got the chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everything was fantastic. Awesome little hidden gem in the HC that provides for a pretty drive out of the city. Service was great and the price is reasonable. My ONLY complaint is I wish they would have used fresh crispy jalapenos in my gravy but, that's more of personal preference!!

Parking: Plenty of parking. Could use more handicap parking. My chicken fried steak was without eggs. Mash potatoes and green beans were excellent. Even had Heineken zero.
Fried shrimp was delicious. And the outside music was delightful.

Kid-friendliness: Saw many kids and young adults. Very friendly.

Wheelchair accessibility: I saw it was wheelchair ramps and they were used
