If you're looking for home-y Mexican food, then this is your spot. This is the type of restaurant where you go for the food and not the experience/service. It is a small family owned business with like 5 tables inside. I read the previous reviews and while the lady at the counter is a bit serious, she was respectful and did her job. They have the BEST gorditas I've ever had in El Paso. They aren't too greasy, the "shell" isn't thick, overall just flavorful. Also, the horchata is great! I was in El Paso for a week and a half and I went twice. Cannot wait to go again.

Fast and inexpensive food. Breakfast is highly recommended. The tacos de alambre or carne asada as well as the enchiladas rojas or rancheras are also highly desirable.

Translates to The Chapel, has a Mexican village atmosphere with bright colors and Mexican decor. The food is good, but could use a bit of tweaking. I don't know if their idea was to attract the drunkards from the strip of bars but for normal daytime hours their recipes will need to be a bit less greasy and a tad more flavor. The service needs to improve tremendously. The lady that helped me was very rude and made me feel as though I was a bother with all my requests and questions. They do not reduce price if you omit beans and rice, which is ludicrous to me. It actually bothers them when you make this request. While I was waiting for my order, the same lady had a telephone order with several requests and when she was communicating order to the cook, she was just bad mouthing patron that was about to give them desperately needed foot traffic. Their food is not as Godly as they think it is and their service will probably give them to the end of this year. Approach at your own risk.

First let me start off by saying the restaurant was small and quaint. It used to be a fish restaurant back in 2006. I was pleased with my meal for the most part. I order the chicken enchiladas for $6.75. The only negative thing was the bottom on my enchiladas were burnt/tuff. My mom ordered beef quesadillas and when they brought our food my moms meal only had cheese so they took it back to fix it. The beef had no flavor, and was chewy. They only had 1 free refill on drinks, except lemonade, which had no refills. The chips and salsa were super hot they charged if you wanted more chips.

I have been to this place three times to eat. First let me start by saying that the food is good! However, their business manners need major improvement. It is a Tuesday at 12:30pm and I am the only person in here. The lady movies at a turtles pace and her helper is on her cell phone. Also the place had a funny smell today. Granted, only had to wait 6 minutes for my food today, not a bad wait time. The lady never has a smile and it seems to bother her when customers come in. I do not expect businesses to do back flips just because a customer walks in, but their star rating would greatly improve just by being more friendly to their customers. Again, the food is good and would easily deserve a 4 start rating, but the vibe keeps me from rating that high. Anyway if you are in the mood for good flautas you may want to stop in, if you don't mind the attitude.

This place has amazing food! With that said, their business acumen could use improvement. We have been coming here for years whenever we come visit El Paso. While in town, we went there on Saturday, and although their hours are posted for 11am, we waited and waited, they never opened, so went to eat elsewhere. In the evening, we decided to go have dinner there, and although their sign was on, they were closed due to a catering event. The posted hours for Sunday are 11am, we showed up at noon, and they were not open. We decided to run some errands, and came back an hour later, they were finally open. Once we ordered, they were out of everything. The owner "never stopped at the store to buy fries", so the burgers were served without fries, they had no meat for tacos. What a disappointment. This place is going downhill fast, and it's a shame because the food is amazing.

I started coming here back in 2012 and I've been coming every now and then to eat, but after today I don't think I'll be coming back. Me, my boyfriend and our best friend decided to come eat here today. We get inside and there's only one other family finishing eating their food. Mind you this restaurant is small and there were two ladies working. We stand there for two minutes without being acknowledged and at the same time we are looking at the menu, the only menu that's displayed on the wall when you walk in. One lady comes up to us with this ugly look on her face and asked us in Spanish if we were ready to order and me and my boyfriend have been here before, but this was the first time our friend had been to this restaurant. So she rudely answers his questions and mumbles in Spanish "you guys aren't ready..." and walks away then comes back 1 minute later and takes our order. She charges us and our friend on separate tabs and we go sit down. We didn't get our drinks until 8min later, but during these 8min our friend noticed that our receipts weren't itemized at all and that both of our tabs had been over charged. So we brought it to the the female cook's attention (she was nice by the way) when she brought us our drinks and she kindly in Spanish said she would let the other lady know being that she was the Owner. As soon as she brings it to her attention the Owner made an ugly face and started acting very ugly in the kitchen in which you can see what's going on. The Owner never came nor cared to show concern to our issue. We ate and waited 6min and the Owner still never came out to speak to us so we walked up to the counter and (everything in Spanish) we asked her to please explain how she charged us, being that the receipts are not itemized. All she did was punch in some buttons to equal the same amount she charged us and we asked her to show us on the menu what she's punching in. With attitude and her voice raised she's yelling our orders and the prices. She says the tacos are $11 when the menu clearly says $10 and the large drinks are $3.50 when the menu clearly says $3!? She played the dumb victim on the price of the tacos and said it was priced wrong and that the drinks were still $3.50 and then she rudely points at me and my boyfriend saying that we've been here before that we should know the drink prices already?? Seriously?!? We don't work there?! Me and my boyfriend trusted whatever the menu said and trusted we were getting charged correctly, but apparently you Can't Trust no one!? 6min into this unprofessionalism and the owners still didn't reimburse us. So we were leaving and our friend said being his first time he won't be coming back and the Owner yelled saying she didn't care because apparently she still gets customers... being the owner , I am disgusted in her unprofessional behavior and overall terrible attitude. I wonder how many people she's been "accidentally " overcharging... smh

***ALERT*** Stay away!! This establishment is extremely unprofessional and more importantly not an honest one. They don't itemized for a reason. Make sure you double check what you are charged for. Prices on the menu that is displayed is actually different from what they charge you. Unfortunately, they charge more than what is reflected on the menu. Also, do not try to question what you are charged, it will not be well received. Sadly, I wasn't the only one that was over charged. I asked my friends to double check their total amount and they too were overcharged. This is sad because who knows how long this establishment has been taking advantage of trusting people who freely hand over their debit cards or hard earned cash. Additionally, the owner does not know anything about providing extreme customer service nor tried to remedy the situation. I would definitely not refer anybody to El Taquito!!

Really great bandera flautas... Some of the best in town.... Just be prepared to wait 20-30 min for them.... Otherwise it would be a 5 star...

The only star they get is for the decent food. Horrible costumer service, the ladies working there are rude & they messed up our orders twice even though we were the only ones there. They also charged us for food they didn't even know they had already ran out of. It was overall bad.
