First thing I look for is cleanliness, dust on furniture and objects inside. If I see none I eat more relaxed, if I see excessive dust I walk out. ASAP. Next I look at the silverware, water spots, glasses with stains, Iam out of there. If I stay to eat , Iam looking for taste. If it has that special taste , Iam sold. My own cooking is always over spiced, over salted, to rich etc etc. The only ways you get around this is to cook with love and patience, it’s a passion. When you find this you have hit gold. Good luck, and enjoy. Iam a return customer because of these things I have mentioned.

The best Mexican restaurant in El Paso. The family atmosphere is what keeps us coming back because it is ran by a wonderful family. My favorite is the Gabe's Combo which includes two brisket tacos and an enchilada. Across all of the Mexican restaurants I have been to in New Mexico, Texas, California, Florida - this is the best :)

have never been here. I always pass by as I live in the area. I work in the area. However they close super early (3pm). We'll, I finally made my way down and it was delicious! I ordered the Chipotle Enchiladas and they were sooooo good!!! Will most definitely be back and try their saucy tacos!

I went to try the rolled tacos but had a change of heart and ordered the poblano and entomatadas enchiladas. OMG it was the best enchiladas i ever had! cant wait to go back.

If you are in the mood for abuelas cooking, Mama’s is the place for you. The restaurant is clean, warm and a beautiful place for a Sunday lunch or workday break. The owner and her family greet every customer with respect and warmth. An attitude that is carried over into their serving staff.
I highly recommend their caldo or sopita options, every ounce of broth is a spoonful of love. If you are a fan of rolled tacos, they have some of the most rich and delicious sauces that add another layer of decadence to any plate. Don’t forget the crinkle fries and a half lemonade half ice tea accompaniment.

I just found a great eatery that does an amazing reimagining of what El Pasoans have come to know as “Chicos Tacos”.

At MaMa’s Cocina Mexicana (or MaMa’s Mexican Restaurant as their storefront says) located at 1461 Lee Trevino Drive, 3 generations of women serve up “soupy tacos” with brisket or chicken flautas and your choice of 4 sauces. Original (clear broth with chopped tomatoes, green chiles, and onions), red spicy sauce made with serrano peppers, creamy white sauce, and spicy chipotle cream sauce all topped with a three cheese blend.

I had original and spicy chipotle, and they were super delicious! I cant believe this place has been around for 18 years without me knowing!! They are only open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM, so make sure you catch their window of tasty opportunity. 10/10 💯🔥

Food was good, but apparently the staff like to talk about the customers in the back. We thought we had found a local place to support, but I am not about supporting people who gossip. 2 adults and 3 kids cost 80 dollars with a 20 percent tip, and we all ordered water. A little pricey, but for being local it's an okay price.

Amazing food! Four of us experienced this treasure! We had enchiladas and Soupy tacos. We each tried different sauces and they were all great! The spice level was perfect, a lot of flavor without being overpowering. I would definitely go again!
