Service was good and the fish was fresh. I ordered the sushi/sashimi combo. It came with a salad that was really just sliced cucumber with dressing. The spicy tuna roll was 80% cucumber and 20% spicy tuna. One other thing that was disappointing was the chef didn’t cut the bloodline off the ahi sashimi. Prices were reasonable but that’s because cucumbers are cheap.

I think this place is overrated. I heard it was good, so i thought i’d bring my kids for lunch. My youngest love udon and was excited to see it on the menu. I ordered ramen and my eldest ordered beef teriyaki. All the food were bland! I had to put a lot of salt in my ramen to have a bit of taste! My son usually finishes a whole bowl of udon, he barely touched his food!

There are lunch specials but sushi rolls are small and chicken teeryaki was a few pieces of thigh thrown on plate- bad. Otherthings looked good. Went back to try them and asked for saame waiter who I liked (LUke) he wouldnt wait on my table- too busy he said, although no one was in restaurant. Strange.

This is my new favorite place. Have been there twice now and both times the food and service were excellent. It is a small restaurant at the back of a strip mall, across from a motor bank, near the university. But don't be deceived. This is a date place - tastefully decorated and cozy. The menu is wonderful and I would like to try everything eventually. I love the salmon salad. My husband got the specialty beef skillet dish. Sorry cannot remember the name but he said it was the best beef he had ever had. The cucumber salad that comes with entres is so tasty. Sushi places in this border city tend to be either shabby or pricey. This one is just right. Very nice atmosphere and excellent food at a reasonable price. Give it a try. I plan to go back often.

Last night in El Paso and I decided to try some sushi in this border town. The service is very slow; beer first- then waiting for glass and it took 10 minutes. Time to order my food; another 10 minutes and then once it arrives- it's all one roll instead of 2 & 1. Sushi was good, though not great. I probably wouldn't eat here again- I'll try another place next time.

We were visiting in the area and stayed overnight in El Paso. My oldest son had been here before and said that there was a really good sushi restaurant in the area. Sushi in El Paso? Really? Ok...we gave it a try. This is a place worth dining at. It's located in what looks to be a small shopping plaza and was within walking distance from our hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn. The service was fast and friendly. The sushi was very good. The four of us had three of their speciality rolls and also sampled the seaweed salad and squid salad. We washed it all down with a large Sapporo Japanese beer. It hit the spot. My other son also had a salad which was loaded with fresh veggies and especially tasty and crispy fresh cucumbers. I was skeptical because I have eaten a ton of sushi in my life and I am a bit of a sushi snob. I'd go back if I was in the area. The price was also very reasonable.

As a student, I LOVE their lunch special! You get 3 items for only $10.95. I had their crab salad for the first time yesterday and it was delicious. As a sushi lover, they have good sushi that is affordable. The service at this location is also great. Overall, great experience at Sushi Zen. I will definitely go back for lunch.

The sushi is very reasonably priced, fresh and delicious. Take out service on a Saturday during peak times is about 45 minutes but well worth the wait. Tiger, bunny, firecracker and storm are family favorites. They are fresh and spicy.

Vegetarians! Run, don't walk to Sushi Zen for the fried tofu and vegetables. So balanced, and sooo good. The owner is an excellent Japanese chef.

...but what I really didn't like was the flavor of seaweed that is often a main ingredient in Sushi. Sushi Zen features rice paper rather than seaweed on several of their Sushi entrees and what a difference that rice paper makes as opposed to seaweed! Started out the dinner with a nice and salty Miso Soup, then maybe the best Cucumber Salad I've ever had. It was tangy and spicy and the lettuce and cucumbers were fresh and crisp. For an appetizer we had the Shrimp Tempura and the portion is generous enough for 2-4 people. Nice sized shrimp with light crispy batter and plenty of tempura vegetables too! For the entree I chose the "Bunny Roll" which was filled with shrimp, avocado and cream cheese in rice paper and a lovely spicy sauce on top. It was to die for! Our service was excellent. The food arrived in a timely manner and our server made sure to keep our water/iced tea glasses filled. Left our server a 33% tip because quality is appreciated.

We go here as often as we can for their awesome lunch deal where you get not one, not two, but three items for $10! I often have the seaweed salad, mini bunny roll, and another roll. Their shrimp tempura with veggies is excellent as well. (Actually, everything we've had here has been good.) Service is always friendly and wonderful as well. We live in El Paso and this is one of our favorite restaurants here.
