On Saturday, March 8, I ordered some chilaquiles to go and ordered them differently. When I got home I realized that all three of them were unwell and when I spoke to them the person acted a little rude, meaning that I was lying. The only thing they told me was to come back and do something else for me. I think it is not the way to provide good service.

Used to be a great place. Frequented it for breakfast years ago when they first opened. The manager/owner would even bother checking in on the service/food. Now, the service is lousy and terrible. Cashier's in a rush to get our orders in even though there's no line, staff was unhelpful and lacked patience to explain.

Not coming back. Do better.

Tacos Dorados at Puro Maíz.

When it comes to fast food Mexican cuisine, expectations often balance between affordability, flavor, and satisfaction. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the beef tacos dorados at Puro Maiz left much to be desired, despite a few redeeming qualities.

The dish, priced at around $10, was undeniably filling, offering a decent portion size that aligns with the value-for-money. However, the execution fell short in several key areas. The beef, which should have been the star of the dish, was disappointingly bland. It lacked the robust seasoning or depth of flavor that one anticipates in a well-crafted taco. Each bite felt like a missed opportunity to deliver the bold, savory notes that define Mexican cuisine.

The plate’s lack of cohesion was another letdown. While the tacos were served with salsa and sour cream, the pairing felt disjointed. The orange salsa, which I hoped would bring a vibrant kick, clashed awkwardly with the cool, creamy texture of the sour cream. The flavors didn’t harmonize, leaving the dish feeling unbalanced and incomplete. The only element that stood out was the addition of purple onions, which provided a sharp contrast that momentarily elevated the otherwise lackluster experience.

Despite the culinary shortcomings, the saving grace of my visit was the customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant, which added a layer of warmth to an otherwise underwhelming meal.

Note: I also ordered the rice, don’t waste your money there.

In conclusion, while the beef tacos dorados offer a filling and affordable option, they fall short in delivering the flavor and cohesion that could make them memorable. The dish’s bland meat and mismatched components overshadow its value, though the excellent customer service and the bright note of purple onions provide some consolation. For those seeking a quick bite, this might suffice, but for a truly satisfying Mexican food experience, there’s room for improvement.

leaving this review to please ask you guys to update your hours when i look you up on maps/gps it shows a closing time of 11. so we show at 10:50pm and the doors are closed while the sign is up. i called the restaurant to just notify them and the lady proceeded to tell me “you can just leave us a google or yelp review” so confused why me notifying you to update hours needs to lead to a negative review? but here it is.

Felt in the mood for some tortilla soup due to not feeling well. Sent my husband to the only place we could find tortilla soup around 9pm. Poured the 9 dollar small container into a bowl to warm up in microwave and was surprised to see just BROTH. I called to verify it was JUST broth no corn no veggies & the girl who answered said unless we got beef or chicken which we added chicken another 2 dollars added. Explained to the girl there was no chicken with our order and said “well we will need to see the receipt.” My husband did not get one when given the option receipt or no receipt at checkout. Then she explained “your husband did not ask for chicken.” I said he got charged 13 and some change. Started totaling up to her the broth (9 something), the chicken we didn’t get (2 something) & dollar beer that he drank while waiting for the food and it added up to 13 and some change. This girl then switched the story and said “my manager said she did put chicken.” I don’t understand how there was so much run around to make us look like we were lying with our 12 dollar broth. Thank you. First and last time.

Horrible customer service. The young drive thru girl got the order all wrong after repeating it to her several times. She was bothered when we told her she gave us the wrong food. She got the older, fatter, female manager named "Daniela" to assist and banged on our truck when she opened drive thru window. She didn't apologize and gave us a very rude attitude. I asked her to cancel my order and issue full refund instead. She also refused to provide me the young drive thru reps first name on four occassions. Will not be returning or providing business to this lousy establishment. Better training is urgently needed.

Owner of of this place hope you read your reviews. The employees seem not to care about customer service and the wait time at drive thru was way too long.

As someone who LOVES tortilla soup I was so excited to try this one, I got it to go for lunch today and unfortunately did not check the bag, it came with a cup of the soup juice, and a small container of avocado that had chipotle on it and a sour cream. Nothing else. Not even tortilla chips?? I paid almost $9 for this soup. Super disappointed 😫 and it was definitely not busy so I don’t know what happened.

Expensive! I paid almost $7 for two breakfast taquitos. Basically two corn tortillas with barely anything in it! The taste was subpar. Wouldn’t get it again for that price!

It was the worse experience I’ve ever had with a manager, poor customer service. They bagged the food incorrectly and tried to blame DoorDash for their mistake. They told us to either go pick the correct items or get a refund from DoorDash .

We ordered EGGS W/machaca , tacos dorados , and tortilla soup with chicken and instead we received 2 plates of flautas and the receipt was on the bag with what had ordered.
