We had the oxtail and the ribs. Both were excellent. We had the mac & cheese, okra, candied yams and black eyed peas, all delicious. Highly recommend.

2 lemonades, 2 corn bread muffins, a side of Mac and cheese, and a banana bread pudding $23.. the price is no problem it’s the food. The Mac was so mushy and watery with clumps of cheese curds. Needs salt and pepper. The corn bread was so hard, dry and burnt. I couldn’t eat it. The lemonade didn’t drink them, it was so bitter like when the lemons are old. & the banana bread pudding flavor was good but I was so disappointed there was no bread cake it was all whip cream and pudding.. honestly please don’t waste your money and time.

The grilled porkchops(2) were pretty good..the yams great, the blackeyed peas were home-cooked but had pepper sauce in them and I don't care for pepper sauce ..that's a matter of preference tho. The peach cobbler...well...definitely needs improvement. I love cobbler but could only eat 2 bites of that..so that was disappointing. Should have gotten my receipt because I'm pretty sure I was overcharged by about $4. With the $16 meal, dessert($4.50) and a bottle of tea($2.50), it was $28 (doesn't add up, even with tax)... that's too pricey for me for what it was so I won't be going back.

Mr. Wade the the other young man provided excellent costumer service. They where clean, respectful, prompt and friendly. The food was top notch and definitely appreciate having the choice in southern cuisine a culture rich city such as El Paso Texas. We look forward to many more visits and joyful experiences rather we take out or dine in. Keep up the awesome job and service. Peace and blessings

The food was good old fashioned southern home cooking. We had the pork chop with gravy (nice and tender) and fried catfish (crispy) with cornbread dressing (tasted like Thanksgiving), cole slaw and cornbread. The service was good and the owner is a nice friendly gentle man. We can't wait to go back for fried chicken and oxtail and rice. It is a cozy quiet place with soft modern jazz in the background.

I did a google review honestly stating my experience. Realizing I hadn't offered the owner an opportunity to correct my potential misconception, I called. In speaking to her, I understood why the quality of her restaurant was so poor. She was belligerent, and Condescending. I offered an unbiased critique of the food and prices, she said "maybe you should find a restaurant in your price range". I was insulted because I already spent money with her so affordability wasn't the issue. I can afford something that is priced too high. Two things can be true. This business owner doesn't understand their income depends on customer opinion. We can agree to disagree, but if you are dismissive of correction, you aren't worthy of ANY customer's money. We need better customer service with the increase of prices.

Smothered porkchop was a mushy mess. Gravy was broken and my chop was cold. Everything needed seasoning. Okra was not fried all the way through. We won't return. This was our Valentine's lunch. Disappointed?

This is already one of my favorite restaurants, but to make it even better they just started serving brunch. The food was delicious and hot. The service is awesome and the atmosphere is cozy. A must stop for brunch or some good soul food.

For those that are not use to eating soul fool all the time, the fool is very good. But otherwise, it was ok. When they handed me the banana pudding I had to ask if it was ice cream. It was just pudding with a couple nilla waffers.

if i could give this place a 0 i would. it’s disappointing to have to pay 35 dollars on food i didn’t eat ! mac and cheese was rancid and had cheese curds and watery. ox tail was okay the restaurant doesn’t smell like food. fried cabbage is watery and brown. the food came out steaming but was still cold. ITS REHEATED FOOD NOTHING IS FRESH. corn bread as hard as a brick. peach cobbler had dough dumplings in it. basically looked like a thick soup. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE! THIS IS NOT REAL COMFORT FOOD!

Food quality and quantity could match the high prices. Don't plan on returning. Seen only one person during our whole visit and he wasn't very personable. Plasticware does not reflect very well for an eat in experience. Everything seems to be more convenience based rather than a good comfortable restaurant experience. Smelled more of cleaning agents than food.

First time going there last weekend (Oct 30th) start reading the reviews. While there seems to be mostly a lack of positive reviews, I decided to try it out.The restaurant was clean. The service was great. The Kool-aid flavor of the day was cherry and my wife and son loved it. My son had the catfish nuggets with yams and Mac n cheese. My wife had the ox tails with pineapple slaw and Mac n cheese. I had the brisket with fried okra and Mac n cheese. The findings were as follows:Mac n cheese: While presentation was nice, they probably should've let it sit a little more to let it solidify. It was a bit runny. The taste could've been better. It was tolerable, but I had to add salt and pepper to bring it from tolerable to passable. Their Mac n cheese game was not on point. If you're reading this, please don't be afraid to add salt and/or more cheddar.Yams: Wouldn't change a thing. They were perfectly balanced in presentation and taste.Fried Okra: Could've used more breading and salt...maybe a better seasoned breading, but otherwise tolerable. After adding salt, it was passable.Pineapple Slaw: Not good. Tasted like no effort was put it. Tasted like it was just coleslaw with a can of pineapples added to it.Catfish Nuggets: Same as the yams. No bones. They were good.Ox tails: They were good, but the pieces were just too fatty.Corn Muffins: Hard, cold and dry. Not good.Brisket: It was good. Would've been better if it weren't drowning in BBQ sauce as the sauce was over powering the taste of the meat, but it still good. ...I found out after the fact that I could've got it without the sauce....overall, please try to balance your sauce to meat ratio. Your sauce should complement the meat, not overpower it.Overall Rating: I would come back here again. Maybe it was the cook that day. If the food is made that way all the time, please work on seasoning and balance. Son's meal was the best out of the three of us.

Food is not consistent, my family has been eating here for over a year now and every time we get it the food taste different, they regularly run out of collard greens so if that’s what you want better order early , the candied yams taste like they got bathed in vinegar before the drowned in butter the catfish nuggets are riddled with bones I would not recommend eating at this place more than once.

This place has the audacity to say they serve soul food. And the audacity to charge $15 a plate. I should have listened to the overwhelming majority of reviews but I figured this place has been here for over a year it can't be all that bad. Boy was I wrong. I should've turned tail the second I ordered a sweet tea and they brought me a bottled beverage. That was my first mistake. I opted for the grilled pork chop plate with macaroni and fried cabbage. I gave my order to the waiter and then since I was the only one in the restaurant it got very quiet as I waited for my food. The waiter went into the kitchen and all I heard were beeps. No talking to a chef, no sizzle of a grill or skillet (This was red flag #2). Then in less than 5 minutes a styrofoam container holding my meal was brought to my table. Surely the thoughts going through my head couldn't be true. I opened the tray, and took the first bite of my pork chop. Not all terrible. Not great, but not the worst thing I've ever tasted. I started to think maybe it was all in my head. I took a cut out of the center of the chop, and as I suspected, stone cold. I couldn't believe I had just been served a microwaved meal of microwaved pork chop, watery Mac and cheese, and flavorless cabbage. Please run, don't walk, away from this establishment if you were ever thinking of trying it. I've never been so disappointed in a meal. To the ownership of this establishment, please do better. I don't believe you could be proud of this product.
