Great pizza... great food... love this place

We visited Ruli's on a Sunday afternoon. Parking wasn't bad and it was very easy to locate. It's the big red building! When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and asked our preference of seating. I loved that there were plants all throughout the restaurant. It's definitely a casual restaurant. I had their mushroom swiss burger. It was a decent burger and a great portion for the price! Their fries were good too, but the garlic cheese curds my friend had were definitely the best choice in sides! So yummy! I think it's worth a visit for a casual lunch, especially since it was on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

While in El Paso, I took a chance at a family meal at Rulis. The menu is not typical of what I usually have, yet it was yummy! The Potato Poblano Soup was super tasty without being too hot or spicy. Also, I loved the bread! My Ox Tail Tostadas were delicious and nothing like I've had before. Make sure to place the pickled cabbage on top. I left the chili sauce off since it was too spicy for me, yet the green sauce was good. I tasted my child's pasta, and it's similar to what I make at home - super buttery and garlicky. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and while we had to wait a bit for the check, the waitstaff was nice and accommodated our requests. The layout of the seating area is a bit odd, yet for our party of 6, we had plenty of room. Can't wait to return!

This restaurant was recommended to us, and I am so glad we followed his rec! I'll start with the non- food observations: the staff was very friendly, happy to offer insights if needed. Attentive, but not overbearing. They seemed to genuinely care if we were satisfied with our drinks and food. The atmosphere is a little drab in comparison to the food- it isn't bad, but just doesn't seem to match the sophistication of flavors. Although they opened the blinds in time for us to enjoy a glorious sunset. I also enjoyed watching the videos of Chef preparing different dishes. Everything we ate was perfection! You can tell that the chef here really cares about what he is creating, and yet it's not pretentious. We started with the 3 Ps Croustini, which had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. I highly recommend these. My husband ordered the Ox tail tostadas, they were fairly spicy and very tasty. Our waitress warned my husband that they were on the lighter side for an entrée, which I thought was polite (she didn't want him to leave hungry lol). I got the Chicken Calabacitas- they were heavenly perfection! I absolutely loved everything about this dish. I tend to prefer lower carb foods, and this really hit the spot!! Every bite was packed full of flavor. We finished off our meal with the decadent chocolate cake: it was a perfect balance of rich, but not too rich, light and satisfying! We are excited to come back again and try other items on the menu!

Arrived at Ruli's to have an anniversary dinner. It had been awhile since we had eaten here, but I could remember the pizza and salad were delicious. Well, they did not disappoint. I was brought to my happy place in every way. The service was prompt and so friendly. Asking for suggestions was received with a smile and a full discussion and description of the plates I ordered the Chicken and Calabacitas. Wow!! The plate of vegetables under the chicken were absolutely delicious. I could've just eaten that, but let's not forget that chicken. Moist, perfectly seasoned and with yummo crispy skin. My hubby ordered the Dino rib. Braised overnight. Tender. Delicious. And the Korean sauce drizzled on top was bright and tangy. To finish we shared the chocolate cake. Oh my! Moist, rich. Topped with pecans and a raspberry coulis. Again, my happy place!! I will be coming back soon, very soon. You should make the effort to go in. Well worth it.

MR. WORLDWIDE MEETS INTERNATIONAL KITCHEN A global minded menu that incorporates elements of different cultures is always worth seeing. We should always take the time to learn about other cultures' food and keep an open mind towards trying new cuisines. Rulis' is a beautiful place that reminds me of a cross between an island cabana and a millennial cafe with a bunch of plants on wheels giving it a lively vibe. Now, lets talk about my indulgences. The FOOD: Both featured by Guy Fieri Oxtail Tostadas: TOSTADA SUPREME Blue corn tostadas with avocado, pico de gallo, oxtail, beans, green chile salsa. Blue colored foods really captivate the eyes of the eater. With fatty, beefy oxtail with a bouncing texture and the crisp corn tostada, you get a perfect duo of textures that keep the mouth guessing. The pico de gallo, salsa, avocado, and pickled cabbage were refreshing palate cleansers that paired well with the richness of the oxtail. Each bite is like a super sized hor d'ourve that packs a punch of the south of the border. Pasta Chihuahua: CHIHUAHUA NEVER ENDS Linguini with chunky tomato sauce, hot dogs, chipotle sausage, chorizo, red pepper, queso fresco, and grilled beef steak. Imagine a meat lover's pasta taken to the next level with aromatic spices. The linguini carries the tomato sauce and meaty flavours across the tongue with a boldness like no other pasta. The chorizo, red pepper, and chipotle sausage leave a strong peppery taste in the mouth, while the queso fresco gives a mild cheesiness that works well together. Hot dogs contributed an unusually artificial meaty flavour that I am not used to, but I noticed they are used in the Juarez/Chihuahua and El Paso areas. A unique signature and everlasting memory of what the citizens are used to, but do not contribute much flavour to this already packed dish (-1 star). Overall, a rich and delicious pasta dish that leaves a stronger impression than your traditional spaghetti and meatballs. The VERDICT: BOLDNESS CROSSING LA FRONTERA TO YOUR TASTE BUDS Ruli's International Kitchen has a menu that gives so much flavour to the average taste buds. When you combine many different cultures and cuisines together, you inspire a buffet of flavours that you do not usually see. Oxtail Tostadas balance hearty beefiness with refreshing flora. Pasta Chihuahua gathers rich meats together in a tomato sauce linguini to enhance your traditional pasta experience. I will definitely be back for their everlasting menu and specials.

Decided to try something new. Came and tried the ox tail tostados which are a must have if you come here. Skip the edamame hummus..I don't think it was very good and no one else at the table liked it. I got the special which was a braised rib and mashed potatoes. I also got the Bailey's Irish cream cake for desert. Absolutely amazing. I'll be back again. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere is pretty laid back.

Dinner date with the wifey. Stumbled across this place while searching for a place for dinner on here. Pleasantly surprised. The place had a nice atmosphere and was not too crowded. The menu pics online were outdated. Some of the items were no longer listed. The food pictures looked amazing but again not all were available. They had some specials on the board, but the wife and I wanted to see what the everyday menu items tasted like first. The restaurant was nicely lit. Not too dark and not too bright. Great for a date night out. The paintings looked like local artists. It made it feel relaxed and welcoming. The TV playing scenes of the chef cooking really caught our attention. Made us want to try everything. They do not have a full bar - beer and wine license only. It would have been nice of they did, but made the best of it. The margaritas with agave wine was very refreshing. Decided to try the shrimp appetizer, a pizza, and a pasta dish. Since it was our first time there, we wanted to sample the menu. The shrimp was AMAZING. It was the perfect blend of spicy and flavor. The Al Pastor pizza was delicious. The wood-fire oven makes a huge difference. The pasta was different. It was very good. Loved the flavor and all meat. Excellent meal all around. Would really like a full bar, but other than that it was a great date night.

Haven't been here is quite awhile. But I've always loved the Mexican sliders. But they don't have them anymore because of 'beef costs'. The waitress suggested a 'special' prime rim sandwich with horseradish sauce. I take the challenge. Ew. Over cooked gristle and a huge blob of fat. I don't know why I didn't send it back. It was pretty inedible. The mayo sauce with chipotle I assume, was room temp so unappealing. The bill came and turns out the special which was I assume beef which was too expensive for the sliders was affordable enough for this horrid excuse for a dish was 24 bucks! I informed the server that it was horrible and laden with fat. I didn't mention the salt which was the over riding factor. She was shocked and gave me her employee discount. Yay. it was a nightmare I wish o could forget.

Pizza review time... Rulis' International Kitchen WOW. JUST WOW! Located at what was my all time favorite El Paso pizza joint, Sunset Pizza is now Rulis'. If you know anything about iconic El Paso chefs, then you know what's about to go down. Using a classic wood pizza oven I knew I was in for a treat. It's possible it's the same oven that Sunset Pizza used back in the day. I was skeptical? If I'm being 100% honest because Rulis is known for his international cuisine. I've always loved his dishes but have never ordered the pie. You eat with your eyes first, and I was already salivating at the bubbles on the crust... if I'm being real, this pie was what I was expecting yesterday with St Augustine. Chef Rulis pizza gave me hope again for El Paso pizzas. Nice f****** undercarriage. Perfect 50/50 mozz provolone cheese mix. The provolone added that perfect nutty flavor that the other pizzas I've been tasting have been missing. No sauce overload and the crust was bubbly and chewy. One bite everyone knows the rules. Ep Pizza Snob Score: 9.4 There I said it...

Rulis' is one of a kind. Especially in our neck of the woods. The food is locally sourced and dishes are unique twists on old favorites. I ordered Chicken calabacitas (squash). Fantastic. If you order pozole be warned: the portion is ginormous. My grandmother barely made a dent. Delicious though. Highly recommend Rulis'.

Unique menu and great food. Loved the specialty pesto fries and ox tail tostadas. Kids even loved it! We will be returning.

Really wanted to love this place! Love the vibe and the plants in there. My pork belly tacos were very skimpy. They had mostly slaw and to top it off the pork belly was slimy and soggy. I feel pork belly needs to get crispy when reheating to serve. My husbands Bolio roll from his EP philly was dry and hard and just crumbled to pieces when he took bites of it. For the price of everything I expected better. First and last time here unfortunately
