"We're proud to be the oldest joint in the state serving consistent food for over 140 years. We've maintained our quality and tradition by sticking to what we know to be true. Our purpose is still to stay true to our roots of over a century - delivering Authentic, Central Texas BBQ, smoked low and slow over post oak fired pits at each location fresh daily, served with Texas friendly hospitality, and supporting the communities that we serve, all while building a team full of servant leaders. We love to know when we hit the mark and we value knowing when we have a misstep so we can make corrections and honor our commitment to serve everyone with excellence and integrity. We look forward to delivering on this promise daily and we look forward to serving you soon, thank you for being our guest.

Our mission is honest: we provide Southside quality food, excellent guest service and Texas hospitality.

Our vision is to enrich lives through the tradition of authentic Central Texas barbeque."

The brisket and sausage were fine. Nothing special. The sides have very little flavor. Need seasoning.

Well, I tried it…. Not impressed one bit!
2 meat plate, brisket and ribs.. they gave me 1 rib! The brisket was super dry and fatty. Mac cheese had no flavor, potato salad was ehh. I travel 290 a lot, and I won’t be back to this spot. Don’t believe me, try it.. you’ll see.

This time the brisket was a bit dry. Possibly cause it was later in the day that I went! As usual, the food was delicious ?

The place itself is rundown, but I would eat this food no matter where they were serving it! This is hands down, the best bbq we have ever had! It's perfectly seasoned and cooked... every single time. The staff is super friendly and engaging. We love Southside Market!! We drive an hour and a half for it!

Parking: I am a little disappointed re: quality of meats. In the early sixties when I was 4 years old my family as a tradition would go out as family and get sausage, brisket, putting, ribs, along with sides and desert. I remember Southside was in the center of town with sawdust on the floor. When I would return to Boston where I live I would always bragg and rave about how amazi.g the meats tasted. Everything sides and desert is still great! The sausage tastes very different than in the 60s. It taste like the regular polish sausage. I was also informed by an employee that the recipe for sausage changed alittle. The brisket was dry and not juicy. A while ago I bought the long links (not the short links) cooked them and when I cut off a piece of cooked sausage mush I stead of meat actually came out of the skin. When I shared this experience tonight with several of the staff one staff member said it must've been a bad batch. As mentioned it was a family tradition and hasn't been for years due to many passing away. I still come back when I come to visit surviving family and am disappointed for the reasons previously stated. I guess it's true nothing good last long. It is rumored the same is said of other customers eventhough some customers like the meat products. All I know is what I know about how the sausage use to taste and it's different nowadays it's definitely not the same. I understand the ownership is different as there is no one from the original family overseeing production. It's not that I won't come back...just disappointed because I feel my childhme.orymory while just be exactly that a memory rather than the real life experience that I would've loved to pass on to not just my children but my three Grandson's. Oh well that's it for all that it's worth.

Kid-friendliness: Still great atmosphere for children!

Wheelchair accessibility: Is wheelchair accessible.

We came in on a Sunday after 6:00. We were told that they didn't have beans, the side that we wanted with our order. We ordered brisket, and was told they only had lean. Fine. A fly landed in my FIL's coleslaw while we were at the register, and the fly would not get out of the coleslaw. The young lady at the register made no attempt to change the coleslaw out for us as she saw me trying to get the fly out of the coleslaw. The food we did get was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. Then, we had to wait 10 minutes at the ice cream counter before someone helped us. I even asked the young lady at the main register for help, and she looked at me like I was asking the unthinkable. The best thing about our visit was the young lady who helped us at the ice cream counter. The portions of ice cream were generous and worth the $3 per scoop. As we were eating our dessert, we noticed that other customers who came in after us had orders of beans on their plates. Why were they able to get beans, but we weren't? The young man who took our order could have told us that it would be a bit of a wait instead of flat out lying to us. It will be a VERY long time before I ever visit this location again. Also, the number of employees just standing around behind the counter was ridiculous. Lastly, many of the tables were dirty. With so many people standing around, someone should have taken it upon themselves to go out and clean the tables. It was gross, honestly. I am so disappointed in today's service.
