Bara — A Newari Gem That’s Absolutely Worth the Drive
It takes us about 45 minutes to get to most places for Nepali food, and honestly, it’s been a while since anything felt worth the effort. It’s also been a long time since I felt moved to leave a review.
Bara changed that.
This place delivers some of the best Nepali food I’ve had in a long time — hands down the closest to authentic. The name Bara itself, rooted in Newari tradition, sets the tone — and the food follows through. Rich, bold flavors, perfectly balanced spices, and a menu that feels like home.
The vibe is warm and relaxed, and the service is spot-on — friendly, professional, and clearly proud of what they’re serving.
No food pics, of course — there was no holding back once the plates hit the table.
If you're looking for real Nepali food, especially with Newari soul, Bara is more than worth the trip

Damn Good Flavors from the North East
Tucked away like a hidden gem in the urban jungle, this North East Indian restaurant isn’t just serving food — it’s serving a whole cultural experience on a plate.
From the moment you walk in, the warm, bamboo-accented decor and soft folk music transport you straight to the lush hills of Nagaland, the misty valleys of Meghalaya, or the serene trails of Sikkim. And the food? Absolutely damn good.
Start with the smoked pork — tender, rich, with that deep, earthy flavor only slow firewood-smoking can achieve. Pair it with a side of fermented bamboo shoot chutney, and you’ll wonder why this isn’t in every foodie’s regular rotation.
The thali is a must-try: perfectly balanced, showcasing regional stars like axone, lai saag, roselle, and black rice pudding that finishes with a slightly nutty, soulful aftertaste. You can tell the kitchen doesn’t just cook — they respect the ingredients.
It’s not just a meal, it’s a story told in spices, smoke, and soul. If you haven’t tasted the North East Indian food yet, this spot will blow your mind and expand your palate. It’s authentic, bold, and unapologetically rootedDamn good food. Damn good people. Damn right I’m going back.
The only thing is lacking is …..here is service
They should be little attentive towards customers & bit be little faster service….! Rest all on point.
Very good food and awesome service by bar tender Ashmita. Will visit everytime when I come to Dallas.

I recommend this restaurant to people that want to try something new. All the meats are quality. The flavor is something that everyone needs to experience at least once in their life.
If you don’t know what to get, the staff is very helpful. I recommend you ask them for suggestions.
