Love the vibe of this place! Service was friendly, attentive, and super focused on detail which we all appreciated as a big group. We had a huge assortment of food from their menu but the stand outs were the Fried Chicken (share with the folks at your table), Fried Squash Blossoms ( SO FREAKING GOOD), Southern Sweet Tea! They do rotate out some of their items so know when you are looking at welp what you see may no longer be available. Also make sure to make a reservation! This place on the weekend gets packed and full of reservations and can't take walk ins.

My husband & I decided to celebrate our first year anniversary dinner here. (Even if we weren't celebrating a special occasion, reservations are recommended!) The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, however it felt more crowded than cozy inside. Nonetheless, staff were attentive & friendly. The food was slightly spicy and full of flavor. We had mama's gumbo & deviled eggs as appetizers. (Although what's kinda odd is that the upcharge $2 if you would like to split the gumbo.) Then, we had duck fat fried chicken as our main dish. It comes with biscuits with pepper jelly. I was pleasantly surprised with the pepper jelly. Would definitely come by again!

The absolute best restaurant in Dallas. Food is amazing, the first time I went I had the fried striper with grits, greens, cornbread and it was delicious. Plate appeal and flavor were top tier. Went back for a second time and had the gumbo, the flavor was amazing. A little spicy but not to much. The subtle flavor profiles are impressive. Chef Tiffany absolutely is second to none. Can't wait to try the new Italian restaurant she is opening and coming back for the duck fat fried chicken!

I'm visiting Dallas for the day and wanted to find some local eats and found this gem. I was excited because I recognized the owner from many shows I watch on the Food Network and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing!! I had the Wagyu NY strip that was seasoned to perfection. At my table we also got the jerk lamb chops, king crab pasta, and the Texas Red fish. Everything was AMAZING! To top off the experience we had the best waiter, Kenan, taking care of us. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be coming back.

Came here for the first time yesterday for my birthday. First time dining alone and literally everyone made it the most amazing experience. I had these delicious jerk lamb chops and I got house champagne to celebrate my big day. Everyone was super attentive and social. I can't wait to come back here again.

Foodie Alert! If you're craving Creole and Cajun cuisine with a modern twist, look no further than Roots Southern Table. Every dish is a work of art! I loved the mouthwatering cast iron cornbread, served with smoked butter and strawberry jam, or the savory deviled eggs with chili oil in every bite. One of my favorite entrées are the Texas Red Fish, bursting with flavor and served with crawfish fried rice. And to top it off we had excellent service! Just note they have a time limit on how long you can sit there which means it can feel a bit rushed when eating. But overall definitely recommend dining here! #MsHopeEats Kool Aid Cast-iron cornbread Deviled eggs Texas Redfish Ora King Salmon croquettes Orange Cake

The food is delicious but the service and communication is deplorable! I attempt to call to place a to-go and was instructed by the automated message that all to go orders must be placed in person. I hear this and say that's an odd way to do business but whatever let me hop in the car and ride out. After hitting the road for 25 mins, I finally arrive with the pains of my stomach raging taste of chicken in my mouth just knowing the wait won't be much longer. To my surprise, I was met by the host or manger stating they were having an event and that I couldn't place an order, despite it only being 6 ppl in the restaurant (the lady and I made up two of them). I then asked if something can be done in the future to make up for this inconvenience, giving her the chance to save a loyal customer, and she failed miserably in the moment. She just offered her apologies over a serving of more than warm breath. I'm truly disappointed in so many points of the service delivery and won't be returning. The food good but not that good to pay $60 for chicken and deal with less than A1 customer service.

Came here in a Saturday right at the opening time. Was grateful that I was able to be seated without reservations, so I sat at the bar. Greeter was friendly and nice. Bartender was ok, but not as attentive. He kept talking to co workers, and barely checked on me to see if I needed anything. The food was just ok, I got the fried Brussel sprouts as appetizer which were good, but nothing to brag about. I got the fish for dinner, but again nothing to rave about. The inside of the facility is small and loud, the bar stools at the bar are horrible. I probably wouldn't come here again. Nothing memorable that would make me want more.

We tried this place on a whim. I saw an open reservation a couple weeks prior and booked it. The food and service was impeccable. We went for a casual anniversary dinner and ordered greens, shrimp and grits, cornbread, king crab pasta, and chicken. Initially, we ordered everything we wanted to try because we didn't see ourselves traveling so far to go again. But every single thing was delicious and we immediately started naming everyone we wanted to tell about Roots or bring with us next time. The greens and cornbread were definitely my favorite. I always shy away from greens at restaurants because they're usually mushy and full of chopped onions and tastes nothing like I'm used to. But the collard greens here?! I'd definitely spend the money for a bowl instead of having to pick, clean, and cook a pot myself. And the best part about the cornbread for me? The smoked butter and the strawberry-cranberry jelly. Oh my goodness! I wanted to bring some home so badly! It goes great with the biscuits that come with the chicken as well. My husband talked about the chicken for 2 days afterward because we had leftovers. He loved how marinated it was. Our server was excellent. I wish I remembered her name. She had bluish hair. Super nice. We will definitely be back and bring loads of friends.

Overall, pretty good restaurant. I thought the gumbo was decent, though I've had better elsewhere. The cornbread was spectacular and one of my favorites. The duck-fat fried chicken was pretty crispy and decent. Not my favorite, but certainly good fried chicken. The service was good. They were playing live music when I went, so it was a bit loud, but overall a nice place.

Food is excellent! This place is really a cool place. We tried chicken fried in duck grease for the first time and I will say it was delicious!

Food was amazing. The fried chicken was perfect, cornbread in cast iron skillet also fantastic. Must get the deviled eggs. It's a small restaurant so it gets a bit loud. Our server was incredible. Tiffany has nailed it here. Can't wait for the opening of her Italian restaurant. If you want to go on Friday or Saturday night you'll need to make a reservation two weeks before to get the time you want.

Stellar service and great food. Dassi was our server and she was so knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. I can't wait to go back

My girlfriend and I were thrilled to celebrate our anniversary here, especially after hearing all the rave reviews. We ordered the duck fat fried chicken, king crab pasta, and cornbread. The king crab pasta exceeded expectations and was a definite hit. The cornbread, paired with smoked butter and spicy jelly, was also enjoyable. However, the duck fat fried chicken didn't quite live up to its hype; I even felt a bit queasy afterward. Despite the generous portion sizes - we each had leftovers - the service was lackluster. While other tables were engaged in lively conversations with their servers, ours merely went through the motions of taking our order. The ambiance, particularly in the sunroom where we were seated, was marred by the noise from a large party behind us. They did give us complimentary non alcoholic champagne for our anniversary which was nice. Overall, it was an okay dining experience, but nothing extraordinary to warrant a return visit.
