Situated at the tail end of the Devils Backbone sits a mythic dive bar that would make Oldskratch Mępħįşťøpħęłęş Łųçįfęřį smile on the potential debauchery and mayhem that has graced these four walls.

I’m a fan of anything that relates to the adversarial director in chief, and the historic patina & beer that’s colder than the icicles hanging on the heart of the beast! The staff are endearing and unique, and friendly even when at times they are overwhelmed. Expect a full house on full moons and weekends of the biker and honky tonk persuasion, this is a real deal rebel honky tonk dive bar.

The jukebox has flaming hot cuts of beef to loosen up the toughest customers, live music on certain days, and bbq fare eats out in the back.

Lest we forget this could be the oldest continually runnin dive in the hill country, and the surrounding area’s limestone lookout formation is where it earned its namesake. Many stories of murder & betrayal are told about the backbone, as well as quite a few paranormal happenings if the atmosphere is just right. Full moons, limestone heavy locations, and emf disturbances all lend to residual, intelligent, or stone tape theory projections given the right circumstances. Native American occupation and well traveled areas are also known to stir up some phenomenon.

Do you dare to find out? We’ll save a seat at the bar for ya…

REMEMBER: Tip the bartender often and heartily, don’t be a dick, and buy some of the killer merchandise to show you were here!

Great dive bar. Nice space for live music. It's very rustic, and worn. But has a lot of feel to it. Expect to find bikers.

Robyn and John have created a special live music venue. They've managed to improve it substantially yet still retain the original dive bar vibe. As the Backbone's reputation grows, it attracts a higher quality of singers/songwriters and it's not uncommon to have out of state visitors traveling in to see a show (we've met quite a few). The restroom situation is rough, and the bar service can get overwhelmed so have a little patience with the staff and enjoy the atmosphere of this amazing place.

The only thing I ate there was Crown Royal. It was delicious.

Hasn't changed in at least 20 years. Nice to have something around here stay the same.
