The Tavern at Lakeside

Visited the Tavern at Lakeside today. Great vibes and cozy atmosphere. The service was great. I ordered the Tuna Tower for appetizer. It was bland. I won’t order that again. For my entree I ordered the Classic Tavern Burger and added an egg on the burger. It came with a side so I ordered the Caesar salad. The burger was delicious and juicy. Glad I stopped the Tavern today.

I became very ill after eating here for lunch on 3/24. I would not recommend this place.

My partner and I chose this place for our date night. We decided to sit outside since the weather was nice. The atmosphere was nice and spacious- feeling considering the overall size of the establishment. Our server was nice and attentive, but I wish she would have recommended a dish or drink as it was our first time there. We ordered some wings and pizza fries along with an old fashioned and whiskey based rosemary flavored cocktail. The wings were crunchy and flavorful, but a little messy as they were heavily sauced. I did not like the pizza fries. The fries were soggy due to the heavy layer of cheese and pepperoni and the honey drizzle made them a bit too sweet. I recommend double frying the fries so they can retain some crunch. The old fashion was well made, but the second cocktail was hard to drink. They added a sprig of rosemary so a lot of rosemary residue fell to the bottom of the glass which made it unpleasant to drink. The restaurant was busy when we left so I'm sure they have better appetizers and entrees, as well as cocktails and beers. We may try it again sometime in the future.

2nd time coming to this established. 1st time, we sat down with a group of people to find out we were at a reserved table and had to move. No signs and staff were extremely rude. We left. 2nd, tonight, sit down around 930. My brothers and I drove here to have a decent meal for Christmas. Ordered drinks until my other brother showed up. After receiving many recommendations from our waiter and having appetizers, our waiter came exactly at 10 on the dot to inform us that he was sorry and that the kitchen closed at 10. I said ok and ordered right then 4 meals. He came back and informed us that the kitchen refused to make it. Will NEVER be back to this establishment.

The wings were the only highlight. The tuna tower was super bland, the buffalo chicken sandwich wasn’t very good either. There were flies and gnats flying all over our indoor table. And it took forever to get our check and we didn’t get any refills.

Food is pretty good, the location is great and the atmosphere is fun with lots of games on and inside or outside seating.

The service is rough. The wait staff primarily high schoolers who don't have enough adults around to ensure they aren't sitting on the food prep tables eating their dinner in the kitchen, using gloves in the food prep area or being attentive to their tables. Also, the waitress we had refused to write our orders down and seemed surprised when we asked for our missing items that she forgot to enter.

I ordered the salmon plate that comes with bussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. The menu does not mention that the dish has bacon bites on the sprouts. I CAN NOT eat bacon due to religious beliefs and after eating a few bites of the meal I noticed the small bacon pieces. I was so upset and called for the manager. I explained to the manager that the menu does not state bacon (which it should) she apologized and asked if I wanted them to make it without bacon and I said fine.

After getting the “fixed” new dish, I ate a few bites and noticed bacon bites again. I was so furious and called the manager again to show her. She apologized again. I had to demand to take it off of my bill. I started questioning if this was done on purpose the second time.

I walked away hungry and so upset that I was forced to eat bacon. I will not return for my weekly meal there.
