Picked up some brownies a few weeks ago. They where not impressive for the cost, they tasted like cardboard, we got the ones with m&ms, the lemon cake was okay. The girls working the counter where more interest in making coffee for 2 young men then helping us when we got there. We waited almost 5 minutes before we where even acknowledged, the girl who took our order was pleasant.

I genuinely wanted to support this bakery, especially given its location in a desolate downtown area of a small town where local businesses need community engagement to survive. Unfortunately, my experience made that impossible. When I entered the bakery, there were two gentlemen seated at a small table and a young woman with short hair who appeared to be sweeping or mopping the floor. I approached the display cases, fully expecting at minimum a greeting or an offer of assistance. Instead, the young woman stopped what she was doing, moved to the register area, and proceeded to completely ignore my presence.
No greeting. No acknowledgment. No “Can I help you?” or “Let me know if you have any questions.” I stood there for several minutes, waiting and giving ample opportunity for engagement, but none came. The silence and lack of basic customer service made the environment feel unwelcoming and dismissive.
As a customer ready and willing to make a purchase, this was extremely disappointing. In a small-town setting—especially one struggling with foot traffic—customer service is not optional; it is essential. Feeling invisible as a patron is not an experience I am willing to repeat. I ultimately left without purchasing anything and will not return. While I cannot speak to the quality of the baked goods, I can speak confidently about the lack of hospitality, which alone was enough to lose my business.

I really enjoy coming here on the weekends. I love the atmosphere the people are super friendly and kind and I have to say I have never had a bad meal here. Their quiches are about the best I've ever had. And their caramel macchiatos are really top notch too. I know the owner works super hard and comes in early in the am to make sure everything is up to par. Really an amazing place right near my house

I’ve been ordering cakes here for about 2 years now & for the most part it’s fine. The last two times they have just gotten lazy. I made a cake order in September for a birthday a small 30” cake in person to make sure it was correct and dropped off cake toppers ahead of time. I get the cake there are no toppers on it however it was on the order sheet. All I got was an apology and a ‘too late, nothing we can do attitude’ not a credit for a loyal customer nothing. This time, again a simple 30” cake with 2 colors on it is messed up again. Again I placed the order in person to make sure it was correct and signed thinking we are on the same page. I go to pick it up because I needed it today (Wednesday) and the cake decorator is out for the day and the cake cannot be remade until tomorrow. If you are going to have custom cakes, make sure the order is correct or at the very least call to confirm the details. The staff was friendly and I’m sure it wasn’t their fault as they don’t design the cakes, but two times in a row is simply disheartening and unacceptable. It’s just a disregard for me filling out an order form in the first place.
Update: They gave me *half* credit back after giving me my cake a day late after I needed it for my second bad experience in a row. I even asked if they can throw in a free cupcake they said no. Never again.

Latham Bakery is the best bakery in the Kaufman-County area. There are lots of foods to choose from, including sandwiches, muffins, cakes, and brownies. It is a relatively small-but popular spot, for a great reason. The food is delicious.
Latham Bakery used to be the spot my Fiancée and I would go for sweet treats and some coffee. After today's experience I feel as if it is not worth the price and the trip back. We ordered Blended Scarecrow coffee, Pumpkin Spice Latte, a blueberry muffin and a chocolate muffin. First of all the drinks were completely wrong. My fiancée's drink wasn't even blended, it was iced, their was no salted caramel or white Chocolate in the drink. It was made completely wrong. My drink had no hint of anything pumpkin, or anything sweet. It was just coffee with milk. I could have made better coffee with my eyes closed. Not to mention we were the only people to be in the line at the time. They didn't even charge us at first for our muffins and then when they did the cashier had some how put a chocolate croissant on our order and almost forgot to take it off. The price of everything was definitely not worth it. This place is not as good as it once was.
