Uncovering a Downtown Forney Treasure: Sunshine's Delivers a 10/10 Experience! Tucked away in downtown Forney, a true culinary gem has been hiding in plain sight – Sunshine's! Despite numerous drives through the area, I only recently discovered this incredible establishment, and I'm already declaring it a perfect 10 out of 10. My order, the "1 Cluck and Pur" (featuring 10 wings and a generous catfish fillet), arrived at our table perfectly cooked to order and still piping hot. The catfish, truly authentic, boasted a seasoning that was both flavorful and perfectly balanced, never overpowering. And let me tell you, that fillet was no joke in terms of size! For my wings, the "Crack Sauce" lived up to its "sweet heat" promise, delivering just the right kick. I particularly appreciated the simplicity and excellent seasoning (just salt and pepper) on the fries – sometimes, less truly is more. Next visit, those parmesan fries are definitely on my list! Beyond the exceptional food, the entire atmosphere, ambiance, and vibe at Sunshine's were truly on point. Sunshine, the heart of the establishment, is a force of nature – radiating energy, spirit, and genuine authenticity that elevated our entire experience. From the carefully chosen music to a charming outside tour and engaging conversations with both Sunshine and the very kind young cook, every moment was a pleasure. Adding to the specialness, our visit happened to be on Juneteenth, making the experience even more meaningful. As someone who genuinely loves chicken wings and has explored every wing spot across Forney, Terrell, Seagoville, Kaufman, Mesquite, and even established chains like Wingstop, I can unequivocally state that Sunshine's has become my new default. While other places have their merits, Sunshine's stands alone for its incredible total value, unwavering quality, and an infectious positive vibe that makes every visit worthwhile. The atmosphere was laid-back and welcoming, with a touch of Southern charm that made the whole experience feel like home. Let’s talk food—absolutely top-tier! The catfish was golden and crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick. You can tell it was fried fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp. And the wings? WOW. Juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I tried a lemon pepper know as crack flavor) and it was a hit. Order my husband buffalo and it was hit as well! The sides deserve their own shoutout—seasoned fries, okra and of course onion rings was so fresh and crispy!😃 Service was fast and friendly, and the Sunshine made sure everything was just right. Portions were generous, prices were fair, and the quality was unbeatable. This spot is a true hidden gem. Whether you’re a catfish connoisseur or a wing lover, you won’t be disappointed. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’m bringing definitely bringing friends!

Food was mid at best. I was in the area to find dinner and came across this place online. Decided to try since catfish is one of my favorite foods. I got the 3 piece catfish and fries meal. The food smelled heavenly and was cooked beautifully. You definitely get your money's worth with the portions. Didn't realize that tartar sauce didn't come with the meal which was a bit of a turn off. Once I started eating, I immediately could taste the lack of salt, especially on the fish, which was also disappointing as I was hoping that there was enough flavor to not even need the tartar sauce. I went to the store and bought my own, that brought things to life a bit. Fries were hot and crispy, but still missing enough salt to bring out the flavors of the seasoning. I would Iike to try this place again in the future as the food wasn't horrible, but not what I was expecting either. The customer service was excellent and mostly the reason I want to come back and try again.

EDITED AS A REPLY TO THE OWNER: Hello. Thanks for your reply. Interesting or not, that's the rating I decided to give it as the lack of enough salt caused the food to be bland for me. I didn't realize it until I got home to actually eat the food. I appreciate you clarifying that you carefully season your food due to dietary restrictions and that is understandable, but still, my taste buds were not impressed. I take accountability to the fact that I overlooked the parts of the menu where tartar sauce and other condiments have to be requested as I am accustomed to receiving condiments with my meal. You say that you're taking my review with a grain of salt but it sounds a lot deeper than that, and it's not really not. I said other positive things about your restaurant but it's very odd you chose to focus only on the negative. All in all, I wish you continued success with your business.

Sunshine is one of the nicest people you can meet. The food is great, seasoned and fresh! You won't be disappointed at all!

Great service, very home like vibe , nicely decorated, listen amazing amazing fish !! Superb quality hands down . The lemon pepper crack sauce in the wings was pretty tasty as well . Food is cooked to order so you will wait about 10 mins or so . Hey the food is really good . I felt welcomed, safe , respected, & like a valued customer.

Crack sauce wings (Grade A) with the seasoned fries and a pork chop sandwich. All around good.

The fried catfish and chicken is amazing she knows what she doing… It’s Very addictive!!!

I had a wonderful time today at sunshine. The food was absolutely delicious. I will be going there often It was very family oriented and very nice people that was around. Please go check it out. also, they have the real deal catfish!

The best wings and catfish we have eaten! Flavor on point, seasoned well, cooked to perfection and nice sized portions. Oh… and them Parmesan fries!!!! Yum! We will definitely be back

This food is SO good. I ordered the wings and catfish with some hush puppies. I already knew the food was going to be good because I could smell the seasoning from outside(IYKYK) Listen, I didn’t even bother to check if the food was correct because the food was made to order and owner was so welcoming, kind, attentive when I walked in and confirmed that she was received my online order and was working on it . I wasn’t even there for five minutes and this delicious, flavorful to go box was brought to me. I would’ve taken a picture but it was too good. You get a very nice portion, some of the best catfish I’ve ever had and the wings were good too…..🤤needless to say that I will be back!

We have been looking for a good catfish place, and we finally found it! The fish was seasoned to perfection! No sauces needed! We will definitely be back!

My wife and I went last night (3-28) for the first time, and it was amazing. It's hard finding really good catfish, and they weren't nuggets. They are full size! My wife couldn't even finish the kids' meal portion. We have found our spot for catfish. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
