This was my first visit and I thought the food was delicious. I always appreciate when a place allows you to BYOB as they do.

Beautiful weather for a drive to Cafe 1187. Had a delightful, delicious & fun lunch. First time to have rarebit. It was good! It's fancy toast with melted cheese. Bread pudding with Irish whiskey sauce—YUM!

Seeing as I h'aint never been to France I cannot say what a quaint, countryside cafe there might be like, but I should like to think it might be something like Cafe 1187. Simple, unpretentious, excellent service and food... a countryside house with wood floors, bare wood tables, a simple house printed menu and cloth napkins. As 1187 does not serve alcohol we brought both a white and a red, for though we had a preview of the menu on FB, we had not yet decided on a dish as we were waiting for a fuller description of the several dishes upon arrival. As it turned out we immediately broke out the Chardonnay regardless of what food might follow. This turned out to be a perfect accompaniment to the lovely, velvety tomato-basil soup. A plus on the soup. I selected the Chicken Rarebit on Gratin Cheddar Toasted Soda Bread. The chunks of chicken were tender and juicy and the Rarebit in which the chicken was dressed was very tasty. As have never had a preparation of this dish before, I do not know what the presentation should be like. As I said, it was quite tasty but I would have absolutely loved a half cup or more of the cheese sauce into which to dip the chicken and bread. Anne ordered the Guinness beef and vegetable pie. We anticipated a dish with a pastry pie crust. This came topped with something like a very large, crisp soda cracker. If there were vegetables it appeared to be limited to perhaps some mushrooms. The texture of the beef and the flavor of the sauce were terrific! For dessert we shared the maple, pecan bread pudding with Jamison whiskey sauce. Yowzer! So, so good! We are looking forward to the next dining event here with Chef Michele Tezak. Such a terrifically enjoyable dining experience.

Had our first meal at Cafe 1187 this past Sunday. The food was beyond my expectations and the staff was amazing. Definitely won't be my last meal there.

First, let me state they have closed for regular business. Did manage to eat there on their final Saturday night. Was always great food no matter what was on the menu. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the feeling you had gotten away from the big city. My parents have had Valentines Day dinners there every year for years. They may be opening for special events and hopefully my parents will not have to go somewhere else. If you can catch them for one of their special dinners take a chance and you will find it well worth it.

She an inspiring women. The Girl Scouts had a good time learning her story about a successful business started by a women. The food and menus are all created by her. I would suggest everyone visit but please call for reservations because it is a small business with great food.

The atmosphere was nice the owner lady who was Our waitress was very nice as well. But if you are a picky eater I do not recommend eating here there are not many options. Everyone in our party enjoyed the food and I would have if there would have been more options.

The chef made a wonderful vegetarian dish off the menu for me and the strawberry shortcake with lemon curd was a delightful surprise.

We have only been there once for supper and the filet mignon with jalapeno blue cheese butter was very tasty along with cheesy garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus with creamy vegetable medley on top. It was a bit pricey. We plan on going back to try lunch. The place is open Thursday-Sunday for lunch and Friday and Saturday for supper.

Incredible food. We tried the shrimp stew and king ranch casserole and could not be more impressed. Great spot to stop on the road!

This place is to over rated and way over priced for what the menu offers. I will not return.
