Really cool experience. Nice to dine here if you're looking for pretty views, more upscale dining. But not outrageously upscale. We did brunch and loved the shared plates. The entrees themselves are rather small and pricey. But the view/ambiance and taste of the food made it worth it. Nice to go every once in a while. Service was great
Wonderful food and ambience. Service was excellent. Very nice place for a date night plus the museum is always fantastic.
Highly recommend 5 stars everytime!!!! Love the hostess Nadia and our server Angelina. Food and service consistently excellent, delightful to the eye and mouth!!! Grateful for our window table far from checkin.
I recently had lunch at Cafe Modern for the first time in over three years and was reminded of what a great place it is to meet and enjoy the company of friends. The serenity of the reflecting pool and huge windows that bring the Modern's garden into the room create an oasis of peace and beauty in sharp contrast to the bustling activity of the nearby Will Rogers Colliseum and 7th street historical district. Add to the architectural ambiance, quiet attentive service, and the sophisticated menu (I had the grilled shrimp salad and my friends split a grilled cheese sandwich and chicken salad, all of which which was not what we expected and delicious) and I will be back again soon and often.
Brunch was absolutely amazing!

This was a surprisingly great restaurant. The menu was very small but everything we had was amazing. The potpie was incredible and hard to describe. The salads were fresh and unique. It is a little loud around the water and windows, but it’s a really classy place. They just need more food selections.

What a terrific evening at The Modern restaurant! Outdoor table seating was perfect. Our wait staff was outstanding. Our meal was excellent! Try the truffle dusted fries.
We had very good food with only a couple of minor glitches. One of our main dishes was slow coming out of the kitchen, the manager came by and offered us a free dessert to make up for it. Then when the check finally came, it was a check for some other table -- had dishes we hadn't ordered and our dishes were not on it. But I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to others.
My wife and I had different entrees but thoroughly enjoyed both. The mushroom soup was outstanding as was the schnitzel and Omelette. We live in Dallas and plan more trips to Cafe Modern

Great food; amazing setting especially sitting outside. My only complaint is the service was slow.
It doesn't get any better than this in a nice day. The patio was amazing, great food and beverages! Also, there is an incredible museum!
The noise level is very high during brunch on Sunday even at 2:30 pm. Food Fabulous/ Service Fabulous THANK YOU.
We went for Sunday Brunch and it was a disaster. We had to wait more then ONE HOUR for our food which was scrambled eggs, bacon and toast and their version of Eggs Benedict which was TERRIBLE. It was listed as Short Ribs but was more like shoe leather with non-descript Hollandaise Sauce over a three-inch chunk of hard bread with limp arugula on top. It was horrible. Of course, by the time my meal arrived the eggs were cold as was the non-descript toast which was not what I had ordered. The potatoes, which in previous years had been very crispy and tasty, now tasted like they had been boiled in Bleach water! Not edible at all! The only redeeming item in these two meals, after waiting for an HOUR, was that the bacon was crispy, cold, but crispy. It will be a long time before we go there again, if ever!!!!!
Everything about Cafe Modern is outstanding; the ambiance, food and service. The views on the reflecting pool are relaxing and looking out on the green with metal tree tells you it's a special place. Our server, Karisa, was top notch; knowledgeable and unobtrusive. Offering inside on the menu and wine list. Even offered a starter not on the menu, which was perfect.
